QUOTE(Veda @ Sep 13 2010, 08:01 AM)
Morning guys,

I'll be faxing in my application for the OCBC Titanium Card this evening. As I currently don't own a credit card, I'll need to fax the bank statements as well.

If the bank statement shows my savings account is nearly empty of cash, will it kill my application? Should I fax over my FD certs as supporting document?

Another question from a credit card newbie. Other than by going to an OCBC branch or sending a cheque, what other ways are there to pay the credit card bills. Can I pay my OCBC credit card bills via Maybank2u? Or use a Maybank/any non-OCBC ATM to pay the cc bills?
*
you can use maybank2u interbank giro transfer to pay

FYI, the OCBC Titanium rebate is credited on the same date as posting date of the transaction... nice ;-)

Do you think we can get the RM50 GST waive if we spend RM10,000 before 31 Dec 2010 ? or Does the spending of RM10k is only valide for next year's GST ?
*
Hi ronnie

I don't see it in my unbilled transactions.. can you share some more info or screen shots?

Sorry bro... my friend's OCBC online trasaction shows the rebate. I'm waiting for my PIN to access it also.

thanks for your reply. CS says no such thing (rebate only at statement) so some screenshots will help once you can get them.

Amex will suffer greatly tho. Right now the lack of acceptance would likely make it a tertiary card.

wanna ask u guys opinion.
my keliq wants to use my name to apply for CC bcoz his name got blacklisted by BNM for being a guarantor for his fren. then his friend ffk n affects his name also.
shud i help him or not? any risk? i dont hv CC yet
*
Don't do it. It is risky, and also illegal. Anything he do with the card is your responsibility and your record including when he does not pay, pay late etc.

bank finds out, you are blacklisted too. He doesn't pay, you are blacklistec etc. you get the idea

Just realise that OCBC Titanium Cash back is based on round up/down to the nereast 5sen.

My grocery transaction was RM109.35...
Actual 5% rebate = RM5.47 (RM5.4675)
Given 5% rebate = RM5.45

Direct Access's rebate doesn't take into account of rounding up/down....
*
Your rebate is visible online? Can you give me a screenshot?

OCBC Titanium Total cash rebate is credited on statement date. That means it's the last transaction line in your monthly statement.
Agreed that the FAQ is slightly wrong... rebate is credited in the same spending month (if before the statement date)
*
hmm that's new. When I called OCBC CS, their answer was the rebate was based on statement month and not calendar month.

So if the statement date is 11th, then rebate from 12th this month to 11th next month = RM120

Just called OCBC to clarify why my rebate is different.
Case in point RM109.35 was the amount spent.
According to the CS, the reabte is based on 5% of RM109 (nearest RM)....not RM109.35
The remaining RM0.35 will be carried forward into the next cycle.

If you not happy with the Statement Date of your OCBC , you may call them to change it after you you cleared all Billed amount.

In the t&c

5.  The OCBC Titanium Cash Rebate Programme is calculated based on the Total Retail Spend for the month and is non-cumulative from previous month.
Doubt they will carry forward.

Alliance Bank Platinum cc. Other banks' Platinum CCs would normally allow the cardholders to either KLIA or LCCT.
*
No longer accurate This is what the CS told me. Alliance Bank Platinum cc will allow entry to KLIA lounge only (no quota). Alliance Bank Personal Platinum will allow entry to LCCT only.

going thru ocbc websitebut only can see 0% balance transfer but no form or no way to apply

meaning how to apply the balance transfer after car approved?

other cars like PB got a form that can print out and fax for balance transfer

Why don't you call them to clarify?

The point is that the bank can make more money by charging you a higher annual fee for the platinum card. hahaha

oic, and I was beginning to wonder why anyone would want to apply for 5, 6 or more credit cards! Say someones salary is 12k/mth and he is already getting 30k CL on his cc whats the point of getting another 5 cc's with about the same CL? No way in hell he is going to spend 6cc's X 30k = 180k in a month when his salary is just 12k/mth! I really don't see the rationale behind having 6-7 cc's! Anyone care to explain the benefits of owning a ton of plastic?
*
Depends. Before the GST, some consider credits cards like collection...

Every card has different set of strengths and weaknesses and sometimes having multiple cards allows one to leverage on those strengths while minimizing impact of the weaknesses.

The credit card can be a very powerful tool, as long as it is not abused.
