Regarding the cheque deposit machine, Public Bank and HSBC are the only two banks in Malaysia using strictly only the one with image scanning capability. If i'm not mistaken, EON Bank is also using only this kind of machine too but i am not very sure. Banks such as Maybank and CIMB Bank are using both the ancient one and the advanced one with image scanning capability.

u know wat, the HLB here in my hometown has its cheque deposit machine inside the premise. Can't deposit cheque outside working hours. The absurd thing is it has no cash deposit machine yet.

As a result of such poor service, its customers are declining by days. Most of them turned to PBB and CIMB.

HLB used to be the preferred banking partner of most Chinese merchants due to their ability to communicate in Chinese dialects. It seems PBB is getting further n further ahead of HLB in terms of banking convenience n effiency especially.

The current model of HL Bank is targeting those old uncle and aunties that do not know how to use self service machine. That is why until today, the bank is the last one who is upgrading slowly.

As I can see, their customers are chinese businessman that have "relationship" with bank manager.  When the customers reached the bank, ahead to counter and the staff or manager will greet them and the chinese customers asked them to help them fill out the slip for cash deposit, cash withdrawal or cheque deposit.

Takkan the businessman don't know how to fill meh?

And the branch that I dealt with previously, their CDM and cheque deposit machines were located inside the bank. Thus, you can use only at banking hour.

I closed off my cc with them since they had long queue every day. People worked slow and everything slow motion.
*
Isn't self service CDM more easier than filling up the form?
Frankly say, having hard earned cash in the pocket and waiting for using the CDM is a scary experience. Everyone knows the ppl in the queue sure got money in their hand.

The reasons I choose Maybank Petronas is below  biggrin.gif :

Actually what I'm looking for is a free for life credit card. Must be Visa, since I'll be using PayPal. And I plan to use it to book airline tickets online and auto debit my insurance bills.

My monthly expenditure is quite low. The items can can be paid using credit cards are grocery and petrol (total RM300-400),  so I don't think I'll benefit much from rebate or cash back plans.

Maybank has branches and ATMs all over the place, so it's really convenient.

I'm not comfortable with high credit limit and prefer to keep low profile ...... which is why I choose the Petronas card over HSBC Advance Platinum.
But you are most welcome to propose better alternatives to the Maybank Petronas card  nod.gif

Choices are very limited since you want only Visa.

Well, i always use shell or esso petrol.
Normally i will use my maybank debit card to purchase grocery at those hypermarket.
I prefer more discount and cashback. Importantly, it must be free for life.

Citi and HSBC are the most popular, but hongleong, eon, cimb, uob also not bad.
*
OCBC Titanium, definitely.
5% cashback for petrol, hypermarket, utility bills and dining.
Twelve (12) swipes in a year will waive annual fee.

OCBC Titanium looks good but OCBC branches are far away from my home and workplace. Further, more OCBC titanium is Mastercard.

chemistry is right that choices are limited if I want only Visa.
*
In my observation, most "kangtao" usually goes to Mastercard nowadays.
Maybe you'll need to have both Visa & Mastercard.

i've seen many merchants got either citibank or hsbc discount.correct me if i'm wrong. I always like to buy cloth and shoes.  I hardly see ocbc. Got 2nd choice?  brows.gif
i just started to swipe the debit card 2 months ago. Thanks for realizing me
*
For discount purpose, you can get another card. For me, i seldom visit those merchants on purpose. Most of the time, the card discount applies only to non-promo items which are usually damn expensive.

AMEX and HSBC too. As far as i know, only CIMB Bank requires us to pay for each principal and supplementary card separately.
*
Not really.
I can use one single cheque to settle my principal card and two supp cards at its Cheque Deposit Terminal.

Immediately after the call, I logged into Eon Bank internet banking and sent a message to them for cancellation.

They replied me this morning 9.04am that they had forwarded the request to the respective department.

So efficient!
*
Bro...they just forwarded ur request lar~~ you deem this to be efficient too?

Oh ... i did not know that. Back in 2008 up till August 2009 when i was still using their MasterCard, i always had to pay the principal and supplementary cards separately through the cash deposit machine. I once tried to deposit all the money into the principal card but much to my horror, they did not deduct any of the supplementary card outstanding balance. Luckily i noticed something amiss early and made yet another payment directly to the supplementary card.
*
Oh? You made a cash payment. But I was talking abt cheque payment. I am not sure of any difference in payment method.

QUOTE(ronnie @ Sep 6 2010, 09:38 AM)
One single cheque but multiple card account must be specified (behind the cheque) and during entering into Cheque Deposit machine (with scanning)
Cash payment also need to specify individual card account.
*
Yes, the cheque issuer must write the card number & amount to be paid at the back. I realize that.
Cheque payment is the most economical payment channel for one who has multiple supp cards under his/her name. thumbup.gif

Hey bro I just went to Paypal website and right in the home page I saw that Paypal accepts Visa/Master/Amex for payment.
So, why must Visa? hmm.gif

If I'm not mistaken, Paypal allows only Visa cards for fund withdrawal. And I'm only interested in receiving and withdrawing funds, not buying things online  brows.gif

Yes. That is true. Only VISA is supported for fund withdrawal. However, you may also withdraw the money directly to your Malaysian bank account and the charge is free (after a certain amount). All this information is available in your Paypal page.

Thank you for your information rclxms.gif
I have not used Paypal before, but it's good to know how it works.

sorry... just 1 more quick question.... do every successful approve supplementaly card need to pay RM50 gst?

thanks in advance

GST for supp card is RM25. smile.gif
You may discuss with ur siblings, get someone to be the principal, and the rest be supplementary. In this way you & ur siblings can save some GST.

me got pissed off waiting for OCBC Titatium to arrive by normal post as today still no sight of it. Called CS, asked them issue new card and I will collect at branch.

For info, the CS told me usually it takes 2 working days to get the card if collect at HQ, I my case, the card is to be sent to branch so CS said he will try to expedite and get it to the branch by Thursday. See how it goes.
*
I also submitted application via email.
The card agent seems disappeared as I couldn't reach her for a week already.
Hopefully she's not a con lady sweat.gif
