How do they assess credit exposure by only seeing the customer's face? biggrin.gif

At first the staff persuaded me to take CIMB WMC without asking for my IC, existing cc and income document. But I said I only wanted DA VI. Then she asked me to take CIMB VI instead. I insisted taking DA VI. She then said I should take both DA WMC and VI as they are free for life. I reiterated I only needed DA VI. She then requested my degree certificate and income statement. That was done on Sunday.
*
Looking at the face im not sure. But I know they do their processing at the back room in the Card Centre in pavilion. DA requires at least professional qualification or degree right? Anyway, three more of my friends I brought to the Pavilion card centre today. One went for DA two went for Cimb WMC and VI. All of them used their HSBC Platinum card for application as their limit is 30k, 30k and 35k each. All got their cards within an hour! They require only IC and HSBC Card. Two got 100k CL for their new card and the third got 200k CL as he has existing housing loan with CIMB above RM 1m. That's all smile.gif

What the hell ? They told me it was their credit card centre at the HQ that requested for my income document  shakehead.gif
Man ... i really think i screwed up badly last week when i went to their credit card centre. Shouldn't have told them i do not currently work and just give them my dad's company name when they asked where do i work at the moment. The outcome might be different then  doh.gif   Haih ... going to deposit some FD into CIMB Bank and then withdraw all once the card is approved when i try my luck next time.
*
How much FD required normally to add weight to the application?

Added on September 27, 2010, 11:00 pmI know Maybank can give you pre approved credit card if your monthly salary is credited to Maybank account for at least 3 months. The branch manager can give pre approval and most of the time you have 90% success rate using this route. they just require IC and payslip to support.

Do you know any other banks who work similarly for pre approval status aside from making yourself their Priority Banking customer?

Rockefeller,

Where else has this promotion at the moment besides their credit card centre at Pavillion ? For the World MasterCard.
*
The WMC VI Pavilion Big Spender Promotion. You get free Chloe bags, Longines Watches etc depending on which month. Try googling it smile.gif

Everyone has different lifestyle. Therefore there is no real best credit card in the market with the exception of OCBC Bank MasterCard Titanium of course. It just so happens that this particular card fits my needs perfectly which is why i am so keen on it. It is also the reason why question such as "what is the best credit card" is usually ignored on this board.
*
I can't agree better. This is highly subjective.

Spoke to a customer service officer. They do have my record and my application apparently is marked "canceled" and not "application rejected". I was also informed that the 1-hour instant card issuance for the World and Infinite card series at Pavillion, Plaza Damansara and Menara Bumiputra Commerce is not a limited time offer but a permanent special service at those mentioned places.

Good for you, in this case you can reapply sooner than 6 months biggrin.gif

I get what you mean, if you don't really need the service, maybe it's wise to hold on for a year or so, i'm sure by then they will come up with annual fee waiver plan sort of 'ala CIMB Enrich Platinum and World that is with minimum annual spending etc.

On another note, did you get the acceptance letter as well or do you actually plan to apply with income docs?

yupe, I got both CIMB WMC and VI which are free for life. I did not get the acceptance letter but I did call CS and they say I can upgrade to WMC. I have been using Maybank since 1995 and now with Petronas Platinum (also no annual fees)  nod.gif hopefully they can come out with the annual fee plan as I see no differnce of Maybank WMC and CIMB WMC..
*
You're right, the only difference for me is the Treats Airmiles and in this sense Maybank WMC for Enrich miles accumulation makes much more sense than CIMB WMC / VI.

Can someone please tell me the MAIN DIFFERENCE between CIMB VI / WMC as compared to DA VI / WMC aside from the fact that DA requires one to be a graduate at least?

Do you pay consultation fee ?

No la, don't say that. It's just another segmentation. You know how these days they like to make more segmentations. It started off as PB customer but soon they realized the different needs so I was referred to the PMW.. No consultation fees just like their Private Banking service.

I'll wait patiently if one day MBB decide to ease a little on the annual fee.

i'm sure they will, just matter of time. sooner or later they will waive the AF and perhaps even be less stringent in granting the WMC.

May I ask for CC recommendation here?
Previously only using Debit Card, cause lazy to handle all the bills.
Friend keep urging me use CC because of those promo dining, shopping, rebate etc.
Any recommendation? No necessary high credit limit.
And prefer easy online banking/transfer.

hmm where do you have your bank accounts? what bank?

MBF have one of the highest admin fees imposed (credit card) for overseas transactions.
My last experience with them is not exactly worth mentioning ... so I will give this cc provider a skip if I have options.

please elaborate smile.gif

Mainly related to customer service, I'd rate this to be among the bottom tier among all the banks.
The fact that the card offerings is the least competitive to be used overseas and the lack of promos already turn me off.
If I have a choice between CIMB or MBF (Worldcard) ... CIMB wins hands down.

Plus ... I think once you own a card at that tier, wouldn't you want to be more selective and to always note your overall exposure ? (In other words don't own too many cards)
Exactly, that's the point which is why I asked if anyone has prior experience to share with MBF. Not many people have kind words for them. What about CL wise? Very stingy or generous?

Let's put it this way ... as Worldcard holder, you'll probably have a different expectation on how a service should be and I doubt so MBF can execute this well. I used to own their Platinum card and there's nothing worth mentioning about this. Even the most requested service - AF waiver is not so straight forward ... your call get forwarded to so many department and they will beat about the bush about giving it to you whereas you'll get the answer from a competitive bank in 1/10 of the time taken on a single phone call with MBF.

So .... not for me.
CL ? Back then MBF was one of the lowest in term of CL offering to me. The lowest was PBB for me and my other cards were like 3x-5x more.

Ok noted. Thanks for sharing smile.gif

MBF is really lousy from my point of view. I just terminate my card 3 days ago since it's going to renew any moment. Last year when due for the annual fees, i call them up and the customer service say they will waive it for me. Then i continue use my card for petrol, the following month my statement arrive and stated charging me annual fee. So i call up again the customer service and they say they don't have my record of appeal for waiving annual fees. But then, they say what they can do for me now is ONLY charge me 1/2 annual fees. I feel being cheated.

As a member for MBF since 97, and the credit limit started from 5k till now 9k ONLY. FYI, currently i'm holding a UOB Platinum Card (3x more credit than mbf) that offer from UOB without submitting any document except IC ONLY as i've a current account with them. And NO ANNUAL FEES for first 5 years PLUS cash rebate RM88 upon received the card.
Looks like it's a big No No for MBF Cards then!
