Need to have HSBC Advance account to apply for this card. You'll also need to provide a proof of income to get it. The minimum salary required is RM60,000, if my memory serves me correctly.
*
Just a side note, not sure if it is high-lighted here before. HSBC Advance a/c will charge RM10 per month from Jan 2011 onwards. Existing HSBC Power Vantage users (RM5/mth) will all auto convert to Advance a/c.

That will be RM120 per year shocking.gif not counting the RM50 govt tax and also the waivable? annual fees, if any.

This card is bundled with the just launched Standard Chartered Preferred Banking package. Just go to SCB website to find out more. All the informations are there.
*
To me, this SCB World MC's benifits are not very attractive. The only good thing is the 2x points for monthly spending of more than RM1,500. I wanted to apply for it as I am going to perform an extremely huge swipe end of this month.

I went to a Standard Chartered branch this morning, intending to apply for their World MC. It was rather irritating that the branch couldn't take my application as they have yet to receive the official forms from their HQ. Also, they didn't know much about this new product. What a shame!

Alliance Bank just won some brownie points with me. Their access to the KLIA plaza premium lounge is now without quota smile.gif
*
Yes, all Alliance Platinum credit and debit cardholders can now enter KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge with no entry limits per month. The quota had been removed about 2 months ago.

But this account management fee will be waived provided you have RM20,000 of deposit with them. The RM20,000 could be in time deposit, your Advance Checking Account or any other investments under HSBC Malaysia. Good thing about their Advance Checking Account is that there is no minimum balance to be maintained inside the checking account to avoid the account management fee unlike Maybank's, CIMB Bank's and Public Bank's etc.

There were two types of PowerVantage Account previously. One is the E-Chequeing (RM5/mth) and the other is Full Checking Facility (RM15/mth). The E-Chequeing is very much like the newly introduced Advance account and you need to maintain only RM20,000 of deposit at HSBC to get the RM5 account management fee waived whereas you need to maintain RM60,000 of deposit for the Full Checking Facility to get the fee waived. However, since all existing PowerVantage accounts have all been converted into this Advance Account. The minimum balance to avoid fee is now the same for all account holders which is RM20,000.

They made it very clear to me that they are not going to give us any free reward points to help to redeem for the credit card tax sad.gif

If i'm not mistaken, there is a cap for how many 2x Points you can get. Do check it out.

LOL ! You should have borrowed their internet and do them a favor by printing out the application form from their own website. Anyway, this isn't too good for the bank's image at all.

They do not ship outside of Singapore whilst the one in USA is contracted with AT&T.

Not too sure but shouldn't be a problem if the shipping address entered is a Singapore one. There are many known online stores in the States however, will automatically decline any non-US credit cards even if you can provide a US shipping address.

@siutimtim ... here's an explanation for you.

(VISA) Classic/Standard -> Gold -> Platinum -> Signature -> Infinite
(Mastercard) Classic/Standard -> Gold -> Platinum -> Titanium -> World

Side note again, I'm not sure what is the Time Deposit interest rate gained, but 20k @2.5% for FD at most banks, returns RM500 p.a.

Don't forget for SCB World Mastercard, you need to place a deposit of RM72K. Meeting the income requirement is not enough.

i think the rate is around 19%, and 55 days interest free? what does it mean? how do i go about? like when will i need to pay the "hutang"?

and if in the stores, usually they say 24 months interest free, what does it mean?

For those who applied OCBC Titanium online, may I know which number did the agent ask you to fax your documents?

Previously I scanned and e-mail to someone from OCBC, Johnson. You can PM me for his e-mail if you want to send by e-mail.

Different banks have different criterias for positioning of their cards. In SCB's case, it is still positioned above their platinum offerings plus we cannot say that its requirements are that low. Further, since its new, no one can be sure if they are strict or lenience about approval rates or CL granted. Further, in terms of benefits, its not inferior to CIMB's offerings
