QUOTE(kadajawi @ Mar 30 2011, 12:56 PM) Celcom has also been barely usable for me in the past few days. Have been very satisfied with the weekly plan (slow, but somewhat reliable and at least fast enough), but now I get constant timeouts, pages won't load, it takes minutes to hours to load a website. This could be of course because they limit the traffic (feels very much like GSM, though my phone says H for HSDPA or so... using it as modem). But sometimes the speed is completely fine, as if nothing happened. And then it is gone again. And this has nothing whatsoever to do with the billing period. Anyone got a clue what is happening and if there is a way to solve this? An Uncle also has Celcom (a faster monthly plan) and he doesn't have a problem, even at my place. are u using a SE phone? i thought i was the only one facing this problem. i have been having serius trouble with loading pages using the weekly plan for a week already. i'm also using my phone as a modem. the weird thing is my phone shows that there is only a EDGE connection but when i use my friends celcom modem with my sim card it shows a HSDPA line. yesterday was even worse. i saw the line slowly change from HSDPA to EDGE to GPRS then it dced. the ping rate is also different. using my phone i have a ping rate of about 600-1000ms. but when using the modem i have a ping rata of a bout 300-500ms. has celcom programmed the modem to act differently or is the problem from my phone.

i'm using SE handphone as the modem. the hting is my phone detects only EDGE but using the celcom BB modem it can detect a 3g line. weirdly. i think my phone is more honest since when my phone is showing H for HSDPA line the internet flies. it is really face. i may have exceeded my limit last week. but i just renewed weekly plan today and i am still getting unusable slow speeds. so throttling for bandwidth that i havent even used?? i dont think it is a good business practice. i am seriusly thinking of disconnecting myself form the net since i dont have any other option then celcom in my area. Added on April 3, 2011, 8:18 pmcan celcom reclaim back the bandwidth that we have overuse in the pass and throttle us on that basis coz i am having really shitty speed and connections. calling the CS is a waste of time. Added on April 3, 2011, 8:41 pmjust went to the celcom BB facebook and i loled. have a look for urself. i am guessing most of u guys will reply really late coz the line is crappy. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Celcom/481162340376?sk=wall Added on April 3, 2011, 9:15 pmtalked to a celcom CS just now and she said that intermittent service disruption to all weekly and daily broadband subsricbtion . it seems like they are going by numbers. dont know what update or upgrade. and after talk to a nice technical team member at celcom, we have deducted that the modem that i am using is at fault. well my problem was the modem since i have nobody else to trouble shoot with me . i am the sole user of celcom prepaid BB in my area.
for other people it may be the update that i have wrote about in my previous post.
they are upgrading the system by individual phone number.
and today after switching back to firefox from chrome and tweaking firefox abit i am getting acceptable internet speeds. not lighting fast but the normal speed i am used to.

heh, compare to u guys experience, what i have been through from friday is a walk in the park.
friday morning. i left my pc with internet connection on because i am doing the folding project. came back around noon see the connection dced. tried reconnecting, manage to connect but cannot browse. called celcom center and they say network problem, please try again later to see if can connect or not.
friday afternoon. around 5 pm i tried again still no luck in connecting. open up fire fox and i got a weird error msg that says my credit has expired or run put.please reload to continue to use xpax. i thought my line expired already so i went out buy rm100 reload.
friday evening reload the rm100 then check the balance is rm00.27. called the center again and they say in the system got record i reload rm100 but maybe the other system not updated. they ask me to check it on saturday morning. so now i have 2 problems. 1st is internet cannot browse and that weird message. 2nd is my lost rm100. called center again because the customer service guy didnt address my broadband issue. i was passed to the broadband section and followed all the instruction that was given including restarting my pc 2 times and some weird stuff i dont see relevant to my problem. still no connection.
saturday morning 530am. tried my internet connection again and still cannot browse and the error message still pops up.my balance also is still at rm00.27. called the center again still they cannot pinpoint what is my trouble.
1pm saturday.
finally i had enough and i called the center again and was quickly pass to i think a higher rank technician coz she was very quick in finding what happen to my account. it seems that somehow the celcom server terminated my weekly plan and started to charge me rm0.10/kb form 10pm friday morning. and when i reloaded the rm100 it just continued to eat my credit. the server actually finish rm100 worth of credit in 5 minutes. so now i am stuck with a line which i cant reload coz everytime i reload it will suck my credit dry and they say it will take 3-5 days of working days to settle my problem.
i am going to fucuk who ever calls me from celcom and demand my 5 days of internet back.
