QUOTE(klk89 @ Sep 4 2010, 12:58 PM)
My car starting to have the noisy "lorry" sound. I guess my IAFM starting to faulty. How long will it take to replace the IAFM? I heard its a very long process of replacing it because its connected to engine bay and some valves. Was it normal for it to be faulty around 1 year plus of usage? Faulty IAFM is like the most common problem happened in a Saga.  sad.gif

actually ar it can be done within 1-2 hours only...if the spare part is ready stock..they can install it for ur immediately...leave ur car in the morning..then evening can take ..if there is a long queue

there is a new batch of IAFM

I hope the newer batch of IAFM could last longer compared to the older batch. Even inside the cabin can hear the tak tak sound. Very annoying. Will go make an appointment with my SC one day. =(

Very surprise that my car IAFM can 'self recover' tongue.gif On June i drove back JB-Ipoh, total 1100KM. The morning after i started my car can heard the 'tak tak' IAFM noise, i thought it might kong adi, but only make noise during cold start, after few KM, no more this kind of sound. Recently even cold start also won't have adi, kinda magic... laugh.gif

Many members in this forum complaining about tak tak tak sound that is related to IAFM faulty. Never thought my car will get this problem. I am wrong. Because I thought my IAFM was the newer batch. How to differentiate an old one and the newer batch? My IAFM sticker was yellow coloured.

QUOTE(bestgile81 @ Sep 3 2010, 12:58 PM)
hi guys. i drive a saga blm m-line late 2008 and the mileage is around 32000km.

my clutch started acting up 2 days ago. when i depress the clutch, i felt a quite strong vibration on the pedal. gear change however is more or less the same and there is no noticeable loss of power.

went to the proton edar SC and after a brief inspection (the SC personnel drove the car a bit). the SC guy told me that the clutch is showing early signs of failure. in order to avert further problems down the road i was advised to change the whole clutch (housing, bearing, plate). the total cost quoted is close to RM900.

i wonder if i can claim warranty on the clutch? i know that under the warranty agreement, the clutch is a wear and tear part and is not covered but come on, clutch failure this early? the clutch has gotta be defective in the first place for it to wear out at such early mileage!  vmad.gif  i do regular maintenance (periodic services at the recommended intervals all done at the same SC). i'm no speed demon (apart from the occasional 120-130km/h balik kampung drives), i don't do high revs unnecessarily and i always depress the clutch fully before changing gears, no abrupt release (fast, race-style gear change is a no-no).

so what say you sifus?
*

then it's a defect item which wears out so fast~
even my stock kancil now 9yrs @ 150k km still strong~ flex.gif

Guys had been driving my car for 2 years and now its clock at 52k.

1) Can i know how do i check whether my IAFM is still working?
2) I had brought my car out for service instead of proton, changed to 10-40w oil and seems like the car is smoother, that's all
3) regarding nissan clutch, how much would it cost changing them?
4) It seems like for manual transmission the gear vibrates quite alot, is there anyway to fix it?

*thanks for the key hole vibration info, i will get it fix asap.

Anybody changed their tyres already? Mine thread left 20-30% only after serving for 60k km. Thinking of changing to Falken ZE-912 or Yoko A drive any suggestion which tyre better?

Did you guys change the camber screw to those adjustable one and adjusted the camber? Noticed that my front tyre actually "makan one side (inner side)" only. The tyre shop ppl told me that every blm has this problem and the only solution is to use an adjustable camber screw to adjust the camber.

I don think its particular for BLM. those tyre people will say any car problematic so that u change the chamber screw. Its a whooping 50-60 ringgit for a 10 ringgit screw. easy money... whistling.gif

Well you do realise the meter cluster has the gear indicator right? Personally, I had no problems switching from a car with lights at the gear panel -> gear indicator on the meter cluster. I find it easier as well.

Add or not is up to user judgement. For me i won't sacrifice my tyre becos of 'whooping 50-60 ringgit for a 10 ringgit screw' (mine is RM25/piece). Of course add it won't gurantee tyre not makan one side, but at least everytime you do alignment, they can adjust back to normal angle, at least it will last for some while, better than none, which start makan your tire from fresh till to end if you are not aware.
