my saga got weird sound not sure coming from engine or what, its been like this for past few months. The sound is like gear stuck or something but it only happens on 4th/5th gear, mostly on 5th gear. The first time it happened was when i floored my car driving > 140km/h, now even at 120km/h or even 100km/h i can hear it a bit, then it stops..its like something scratching / stuck..very scary sound, anybody face this b4? I'l probably record the sound if able to then post it up for u guys to hear it. Dunno is it IAFM problem or something else.

Are you referring to the short "derrrp" like when you're under revved?

my mileague is about 70k if not mistaken..yeah i think it sounds like when underrev but for my case im not underrev at all, is it normal?

The IAFM sound is a tik tik tik sound. Not a grinding sound. not sure what it could be. maybe u should try sending it to the service center?

Yesterday just went back from Ipoh to JB, this morning start the car idling is up and down for almost a minute, at a moment the engine nearly stall.

Everytime the engine after long run will develop some strange behavior, like human too tired or what, then after few days all will be fine again. Sigh.

ok ...... u mean when you just start the engine and leave it idling ... urs wont go up an down?

Crap .... time to add another issue to my list before my next visit .......

yeah same now if i don't start my car for like 3 days, the next time I will have problem starting up. have to rev to make sure the engine doesn't die..

any1 can help me with this prob?

You are right, especially cold start idling the RPM will stay steady, won't go up and down. Unacceptable considering it is fuel injection engine.

need to tune ecu back?

I guess some sensor feedback problem causing this. Else ECU is just a microprocessor to process incoming signal to inject more/less fuel, without input means no output.

During cold start,

O2 sensor got something wrong: Hey, Mr ECU, why u inject so many fuel?

Mr ECU: OK, i decrease it.

but due to cold engine room, temp sensor: Hey Mr ECU, why u inject so little fuel, i'm cold la...

Mr ECU: OK, i increase it...


then non-stop feedback ....
