you must at least have a 1 year experience to qualify for the cert.. if you are a mechanical engineering degree holder then you just only need to attend 1 oral test.. if you are in different engineering background you need to take writing exam..

as for the course.. this particular company offer their training specially for steam engineer. Bayubali engineering.. somehow they have already do the course.. so you must wait for the next session

few of my friend hold this cert ,not me.. i'm currently working in power plant.. so in involve boiler and turbine etc...

its not really stressfull ,if u know exactly what you are handling.. you already passed the test.. its means you are competent enough.. for my place.. got extra allowance for this cert

Hi everyone. Just curious, I'm also interested to be a certified steam engineer and I hold a mechanical engineering degree. Is it necessary to take the course?

Competency steam engineer comes with 2 grade. Grade 1 and Grade 2. U must get Grade 2 first.

To get competency test for steam engineer, u need to get pass 3 sections
A-Maths
B-Eng. exam
C-Oral interview
From what i can remember, if u have a degree in mech eng, u just need to take part C (oral interview) to pass.
In interview, u must familiar with OSHA, FMD and related engineering safety.

Anyone getting interview lately?

Bro, not that easy

In order to qualify to take steam engineer competency cert, you need to apply Grade 2 Competency Steam Engineer first.
The application form can download from DOSH website. There are some requirements to apply, ie, need to work on boiler for 18mths, etc
