probably so many topics of this had been created...but anyway...

lets talk a little about them here again

probably if you play 10 matches, you will see 9 of them have some sorta cheese up their sleeves

so, what's your cheese scenario that you dislike happening to you the most?

mine is zealot rush...especially when they just build gates right outside of your base and inside his base, it was empty...=_="

how to counter this?

well...if you scouted early...you would have noticed your opponent's base is empty...however, you will later need to find where his proxy base is...which could be somewhere in the middle of the map...or right outside your base...or if he wants to hide his tech...somewhere near, but outside of his base...but we are talking about cheese here...so...most likely somewhere near your base to the middle point of the map

anyway...when you noticed this situation, it's probably best to get cannons up immediately...and as protoss (cos i play protoss), getting your own 2 gates is pretty pointless (which i just experience in this situation)...best is to wall off with 1 building (could be a forge, or a cybernats), 1 pylon and 1 zealot and 1 stalker out asap

put the cannon inside your base and get another pylon inside to keep your wall powered...zealots would be storming outside your base once he has 3 of them...if you are probably a little quick with your hands...you may have 2 zealots and your cannons will be about to warp in at that point of time...continue to wall off with your 2nd zealot and the cannon will be ready...there, you just fend off the attack...

now...build your own gateways, get your own warp tech and fend off that proxy and you just won yourself the game

easy early win for the opponent, yes...as he contains you inside your base, but when you push out = ggs for him

well, if you have the time to think about how to counter your cheese situation, you may wanna write it out as well...all the best in fending off cheesers

anyway, probably the best defense to deal with cheesers are static base defense + wall (for every race)...highly doubt anyone can cheese a terran as they just build walls up asap...and they can lift off anytime when they noticed something is wrong with his base

oh, just remembered...you could use sentries (instead of stalkers) too to fend off zealots and zerg rushes into your base...force fielding your entrance and allow your cannons to finish up...your pylon as your 1st wall will go down pretty soon to zealots anyway

For my style, just stay calm when you see this kind of situation, if you nervous you will just screw up your own mind sets.

Actually by the time you're able to get stalker/sentrry, it's no longer considered a cheese. Most cheese succeeded or failed before you're able to get cybercore units

i'm not saying it doesn't work. biggrin.gif i'm just saying it's pretty much the player is like the AI already - didn't notice the cannons.

btw i just realized he mentioned OUTSIDE his base, so I assume he it means not within shooting range but good enough to make exiting difficult.

Lol I still manage to sneak pylons into enemy bases at times. Happens during 2v2s as well. They're good, just that sometimes they don't scout their own base.

exactly. So, next time playing againts Protoss, not just we should scout their base, but outside our base too! tongue.gif

actually going 2 gate is pretty good in PvP...
u can hold off cheese with 2 gate worth of zealots as ur economy would be better...
and unlike cannons, zealots are much more mobile especially in protecting ur mineral lines as well as counter pushes...
when things start to get ugly, drop a forge and cannon x1 or x2 and tech straight to stalkers for coutner push...

beaten a plat toss who tried to cheese me....

there are better advanced cheese techniques with much higher success rate though which i shall keep it to myself =p

haha, same here. But might as well keep it to ourselves coz if they know the tactic, not suspense anymore.. tongue.gif

fighting off cheese is like the core of the game, you stop it, you win, you dont, you lose, but still...its best to have static def in your entrance to reduce the unit loss count for your counterattack

if that cheeser is a zerg, he could rebuild his army pretty quick though, so every single unit counts...+ killing hatcheries = broodlings...

if your oppo builds cannon in your base just pull one worker and tail that probe...if there's an opportunity, pull all your workers to kill that probe...

scouting your opponents base will only tell you something's up if the forge is up early...but he could be anticipating that you are cheesing as well...still, most likely = cannon rush

scouting your own base will tell you that a proxy pylon's coming up...and you will need to kill that pylon before it warps in...so if you see pylon warping in...pull all workers to destroy/cancel that pylon

if that oppo cannon rush fails...you should be anticipating a tech switch to zealots...get cannons in your base and you will be fine
