however, regarding the issue of Sakura saga and a player registered for more than 1 qualifier rounds, i'll provide a full report in the Dreamworld coverage to clear the cloud.

Is that why you didn't post the pictures and replays just yet?

La_DottA: that's my friend camera and you know? even it's DSLR, i'm using Auto Focus. lol.

antx: nope, i guess my reply to LiLFreaK has explain it. same goes to JB Qualifier - Day 3. i posted it on Monday/Tuesday (cannot remember), not immediately after the event like Day 1 and 2. Honestly speaking, i had every information gathered. based on my own since i was there from the start till the end, and also based on the tournament Marshal. i guess i could sum it up anytime. but i would really like to take a day or two off for my personal life. hehe...

MSI Dota Tournament - Malacca (DreamWorld) Media Report

user posted image
No.86-C, Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho, 75000 Bukit Cina, Melaka.

Date: 27th August 2010
Time: 1500
Venue: Dreamworld Cyber Cafe
Address: No.86-C, Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho, 75000 Bukit Cina, Melaka.
Participating Teams: Trinity, Dompet PVC, ReD, I-Zone, CAL-TEX, pHGp, Alone, yB.mY Gaming

27th August was the final day of Malacca State Qualifier took place in Dreamworld Cyber Cafe. So far i have been helping with the tourney from Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and now Malacca. Today was the worst of all. Don't get me wrong, what i mean here is that I was in the most worn-out situation. I couldn't even take pictures, causing Mr. Liven Liew had to take up the photographer responsibility. I only managed to help a little in set-up and standby for any technical fault to be attended. I barely could hold on to my feet. However, the rest of the crews basically helped on covering each other, as always and eventually the tourney in Dreamworld was successfully organized. Everyone seems to be happy (at least from what i see in their expression) and we didn't receive any complaints or negative feedback. By the way, since State Qualifier in XGL Cyber Cafe the organizing team decided use 'draw-lots' method for the placing of each participating team. It may be the permanent method to be used in coming State Qualifier since we found that it was the fairest way.

The Dreamworld Cyber Cafe was packed with participants since 2:00 PM and everyone was waiting for registration. There was no drop out for this round of qualifier and every team came for the competition. At around 3:00PM to 3:30PM the competition officially kicked-start after the marshal briefed each Team Captain, as usual. There was a little technical issue in the beginning but luckily it was during the drafting stage, so remake was made possible. However, we ran out of lady luck during the clash between CAL-TEX and pHGp. "pGHp.DUno" playing Storm Spirit got disconnected due his PC 'hang' during end game period and it was a very close fight. Either team could win the match. Since the PC hang and restarted, the last 'save file' could not be retrieved in most of the Cyber Cafe 'go-back' system management.

Team CAL-TEX - Sentinel
Pick: Shadow Fiend, Death Prophet, Witch Doctor, Necro'lic, Venomancer

Team pHGp - Scourge
Pick: Crystal Maiden, Lifestealer, Storm Spirit, Vengeful Spirit, Gorgon

Team pHGp seemed to be playing 2 solo strategy with Storm Spirit and Gorgon solo in both top and middle lane respectively. Storm Spirit was against Shadow Fiend in middle lane. At the 29th minutes mark, Storm Spirit got disconnected from the game with a noticeable Black King Bar. And the kills between two teams were equally even at 10 each but Team CAL-TEX had 3 tower more than team pHGp. Our Marshal called upon both Team Captain and briefed them accordingly. Long story short, both teams agreed to carry on the game with team pHGp playing with the 4 remaining players. At that time, Gorgon had Linken's Sphere and Manta Style while Lifestealer had Kellen's Dagger and Sange and Yasha. Immediately upon continue, team CAL-TEX stormed into the top lane successfully taking out the tower and raxs. Although pHGp seemed to be in the losing end, but they were persistent and keep on fighting. Eventually pHGp claimed victory with Gorgon complete with Boots of Travel, Linken's Sphere, Manta Style, The Butterfly and Helm of Dominator. On the other hand, Lifestealer had Cranium Basher, Assault Cuirass, Kellen's Dagger and Sange and Yasha.

At this round of Malacca State Qualifer (Dreamworld Cyber Cafe) Qualifier, it was between Team ReD and Team pHGp. According to Team Captain, Goh "pHGp.CryVatioN" Chen Chee, the team has been around for 6 months and usually play together in ET Cyber Cafe located in Jalan Ong Kim Wee. When asked what is the meaning of the team name, it's Play Hard Go Pro. Due to their working live, unlike most of the professional teams, the didn't indulge in heavy training schedules. There are 3 core members in the team who are school friends and they played together since then. After this MSI Dota Tournament 2010, their next target will be SMM Selangor in the quest of gunning down a ticket to the SMM Grand Finals. On the other hand, Team ReD is quite an interesting team. According to Team Captain, Sarathbabu "ReD.Tienhoven" Ramani the team was formed 2 hours before the competition. 2 'actual' players for Team ReD couldn't make it to the competition. There was where CZack and Joker came into picture through friends/gamers network. CZack from Team TTT who took the 1st runner-ups in the previous iRelax Cyber Cafe Qualifier Round was asked to play with Team ReD to win the ticket to the Grand Final of MSI Dota Tournament 2010 in Kuala Lumpur. Just as a side information, according to the organizer only champion of any State Qualifier is prohibited to participate in the rest of Qualifier rounds. On other words, those who have qualified to the Grand Final is not allowed to play in any other Qualifier Rounds. Back to Team ReD, they were actually a competitive Counter Strike team some time around 5 years ago. They played against NBTD, Hybrid, GBR, etc during their prime time and had an achievement of 4th Placing in the VA Tournament. Sarathbabu "ReD.Tienhoven" Ramani added that this MSI Dota Tournament 2010 is actually his first competitive DotA Tournament. When asked how was it comparing to Counter Strike tournaments, immediately he responded that DotA is way better. He said DotA gave more freedom but it takes longer to finish. In DotA one can not lost focus and make any mistake, it would cause the game. He also credited the Marshal for being fair and friendly.

Team ReD managed to claim victory over Team pHGp during the Final and qualified to the Grand Final. Since this is the first effort from Team ReD 'switching' from Counter Strike to DotA, it was definitely a great achievement despite the had problems for each players 'role' to play accodring to Sarathbabu "ReD.Tienhoven" Ramani.

Team ReD - Sentinel
Ban: Broodmother, Gorgon, Necro'lic, Vengeful Spirit
Pick: Crystal Maiden, Shadow Fiend, Tidehunter, Phantom Lancer, Silencer

Team pHGp - Scourge
Ban: Oblivion, Alchemist, Demon Witch, Storm Spirit
Pick: Witch Doctor, Earthshaker, Windrunner, Faerie Dragon, Lifestealer

Official MSI Malaysia Statement

I had a great time in Malacca State Qualifier for the MSI Dota Tournament 2010. But it was only temporal as once i reached home, i was sadden by the Sakura, CZack and food saga. I immediately contacted Mr. Liven Liew to monitor the situation and together figure out a solution (as i'm kinda part of the organizing team as well biggrin.gif). As i'm quite an impatient person, i took the liberty contacting Sakura for clarification. As i was there during the tournament, i didn't witness Sakura touch any of the competing PCs. I only noticed him 'facebook' and played a game 1-on-1 with his friend through the Host PCs during Final. For your information, we used different PC to host the Final game. The next day, Sunday, Mr. Liven Liew called me that he will release a statement regarding the issues raised in a proper way. He indicated to me that he treats these issues very seriously and is ready to make the statement. He asked me to go to office for an 'interview' session on Monday. So here goes.

QUOTE(Liven Liew)
First of all I would like express my gratitude to the the gaming community especially gamers who participated in our very first MSI Dota Tournament 2010 - Malaysia. Since completing Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and now Malacca State Qualifier Stages, we have received tremendous and encouraging feedbacks and this will only motivate us to do even better in the up-coming Qualifier Stages and Grand Finals. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the organising crews who worked hard enough to ensure everything is smooth-sailing.

In the recent event, it has come to my attention that there are few claims needed to be answered. Before I go any further, allow me to explain the main purpose of organising MSI Dota Tournament 2010 and I would really like to be totally honest here. Of course the main objective is for marketing and branding of MSI Hardware mainly Mainboards, Graphic Cards and Notebooks. Second is to provide an opportunity to gamers to have fun competing each other in a healthy way and eventually promoting Malaysia gaming industry to a higher level.

First and foremost, I would like to apologize on the misunderstanding in regards of a player/team registered or played for more than one Qualifier Stage. Since the very beginning, we decided to allow a player/team to participate more than one Qualifier Stage as long as they are not the Champion of any Qualifier Stage yet. In other words, one is allowed as many trial as possible to qualify to the Grand Final by claiming victory in any Qualifier Stage. That being said, it also depends on slot availability because priority will be given to other who registered only once. But once a player/team has qualifier to the Grand Final, they are not allowed to participate in any Qualifier Stage anymore. We did not make an official announcement on this clause is to minimize the possibility of mass registration as we would like to maintain 8 competing teams in each Qualifier Stage.

Secondly, we are currently investigating on claims that Sakura together with an unidentified individual replacing two Team ReD players during the Semifinal Match in Dreamworld Qualifier Stage, Malacca. We have contacted Dreamworld Cyber Cafe management to provide us video footage (CCTV) from 6:00PM - 8:00PM, 27 August 2010 to facilitate our investigation. However, we consider Team ReD victory is valid until it is proven otherwise. We urge anyone with any information to contact us as soon as possible. So far no evidence is supporting the claim. According to our Marshal, Sakura did not replace any of Team Red members at any time at all.

Apart of that, once again I would like to apologize to Participating Teams of iRelax Malacca Qualifier Stage because of the food provided was different from other Qualifier Stage. During the iRelax Qualifier, there were plenty of technical issue we had to attend to. For example location of Frozen Throne 1.24e, Warkey Installation, Game suffering lagness, etc. It was the only Qualifier Stage where we finished at around 11:00PM with 8 participating teams. We decided to provide 'economy rice' just opposite iRelax Cyber Cafe because we felt that the game play comes first. We did not want to risk the time to purchase McDonald which normally consumed 1 hour. So far delivery order from McDonald was not an option because of the size of purchase. Therefore we had to go to a McDonald branch and purchase our order there.

Finally the organizing committee would like to encourage the up-coming State Qualifier taking place in Penang and Selangor to try your best and most importantly, enjoy the game and have fun!
