Added on August 18, 2010, 2:29 amWas helping elvin gonon and tricky this morning. The all gunning. I went all out on rathalos with focuz because nobody would be in my way biggrin.gif

i feel so dumb.
only realised today that with a 2 slot weapon i can get focus, HGE and sharp+1 on my helmetless helios doh.gif

been wanting to ask about AUL for a while now.

does it add like a fixed attack rating (i.e. 25 pts) to your weapon's attack or is it a percentage?

if it is a fixed figure, then doesn't diminishing returns render it useless? A 25 point increase may be significant when your weapon does like 200pts of damage, but for a hammer that nears 1000, isn't it a waste of slots?

or does it work in some other way?

well, again if that is the case it is still rather useless when u have the equipment we have imho. unless if i'm not reading it right.

say for example hammers AUL adds 20x5.2 = 104 pts into your attack regardless of which hammer you use.

when you start out, you use a say iron hammer with 312 attack. so your attack become 416, which is an increase of 33.3%.

but now, having hunted everything to the brink of extinction you are using a devil's crush - 1040 attack. The increase is now a miserly 10% sad.gif

And its a +20 skill. I'm not sure about others, but personally i would think that stuff like evade, earplugs, tremor resist ie, that cannot be replicated by having better numbers more useful.

Mebbe I am wrong though, cause most players seem to cherish their AULs.

as for why doesn't everyone use a GS, well methinks (aside from being cumbersome and hard to use) it is the 'class modifier' thing. After factoring all your raw attack, hitzones blah blah blah, you divide the total figure with your class modifier to get the total damage. Hence, here the smaller the modifier the better.

GS = 4.8
Hammer = 5.2
SnS = 1.4 shocking.gif
Bowgun = 1.2 shocking.gif

Also, i have no idea
1) How did that gamefaq user get all these formulas? He reverse engineered the coding?
2) Why would crapcom wanna use such a cumbersome calculation. Why the long windedness where you can simply have the 'attack' value on the status page times whatever monster variable you want = damage output? At the moment it seems that crapcom wants to mask the fact that a 1000 attack hammer isn't really 5 times better than a 200 attack SnS doh.gif
