well.. u can just calculate ur BMI, it is widely used and internationally the most accepted indicator for obesity. BMI = weight(kg)/Height square (meters) more than 25 is considered as overweight, 30 and above considered obese. other methods are calculating your Waist circumference : >102cm in male and >88cm in female = high abdominal fat Waist-hip ration : >1.0 in men and >0.8 in women = abdominal fat accumulation best = use ur weighing machine hope that helps

i hv a tanita innerscan scale...it does measure body fats, but i hv some doubts over this is measure compare to using a caliper....
eg...it gives the reading as TBF, Total Body Fats, which means not just around the waist...i assume it factors in the legs, arms and other parts of the body where fats r stored...
the caliper only takes reading from the waist area?...
hmmm...

caliper usually measures skin fold at waist, leg and somewhere above the nipple.

ideally caliper should be used to measure the skin fold thickness at abdomen and also ur arm. as this is where body fat accumulates the most.

Because BMI uses our weight, and bodybuilders have muscle mass, which is heavy. So it indirectly messes up the BMI count. Bodybuilders' BMI might be >30, but have a very low body fat percentage.

And muscle is more obvious. Thus if calculate it in BMI, still I am overweight and obese
