my d40 has a small dot of watermark on its sensor and it is apparent when i use small aperture like f8 and above...how much is the rate for cleaning the sensor if i send to Nikon in Times Square?
*
that's dust on your sensor or mirror... No need go Nikon centre clean, just get a blower, detach your lens, do a mirror lock-up (can do this in menu) to lift the mirror and blow air upwards into the sensor. Just don't touch the sensor, only blow. then the dust will be gone, most probably. Unless it's a sticky dust which cannot be blown off, then u need to send to service centre.

I see, thanks.

I am using a Pro Tama UV on my 18-55 and it seems quite susceptible to scratch. Normally I only wiped it with those smooth fabric cloth (used for glasses those kind).

How much do a Hoya one normally cost? 52mm, not Pro1 series.
*
Normal Hoya 52mm is around rm45~50. My friend got his 58mm for rm50.

Not sure whether i'm slowpoke or wad, but just checked nikon rumors and the new D3100 has 14MP CMOS, ISO100-12800 (WOW), 3 inch LCD, full hd video, 11 AF points and new EXPEED processor.

Can this D3100 win over the current D5000? Since it's CMOS sensor and higher ISO range. Eager to know when will it be released cuz my friend is getting a new DSLR soon, recommending this to him but no idea when can he get it =X

Wah, so overpowered? Sounds more like D5100 rather than D3100 to me. laugh.gif

Yea sounds more like D5100... I doubt it will be as cheap as D3000 when it's launched =X

Why worry your D3000 will be outdated... When everyone was using D90, D5000, i was using the old but good D40. 5 years old model. Doesn't mean better gears shoot better photos.

Looks like D3100 ISO performance is pretty good.
D3100 sample on flickr

ISO3200 with high ISO NR, but looks pretty good with just a DX lens.

I view RAW files with ACDSee photo manager 2009, then edit RAW files with photoshop CS5 xtended. Been using ACDSee for years, since 2006 version. It can support lots of image file types and can do minor editing too.

But it's not free though. You know the drill.

Few days ago grandpa having 70th bday, used my D90 kit + di622 + fake demb diffuser (General_Nic, yes, the one I bought together with you). Photos took inside a

Ended up quite good, no harsh flash. Combination of aperture + shutter + reasonably high ISO (around 640~800) with the diffuser white panel lean backward a bit.

I always use the hood, cuz it can protect both my uv filters and the lens. Feeling insecure when I don't use the hood.

i actually got an offer for the D5000-kit for RM2299 from a shop in times square. I am just worried about one thing though, how do i verify if it's a genuine set? Is there like a hologram sticker or something?  icon_question.gif
*
Easy. Just check the warranty card whether on the distributor column is Nikon Malaysia SDN BHD or Nikon (M) SDN BHD or not. If not malaysia, insist not to buy.

so,d5000 vs d3100,suggestion is???

Based on the high ISO images found in flickr from d3100 (zoomed in, iso 6400) I THINK D3100 is better than D5000. For its new sensor (CMOS 14.2MP) and processor, and full HD full-time AF recording, i think it's better. But still it's considered entry level, D5000 might give better control.

RM4.5K for D7000 kit, is around the price of D90 kit when it's just released right?

Gonna visit BTS nikon centre again soon =D Wanna try out the new 85mm 1.4 and D7000!
