Anyway... since we are on the topic of vignetting, I don't think it is that much of a problem as before as most newer DSLRs have built in vignetting correction.

The other name used is Peripheral Illumination Correction the camera automatically corrects the darkened corners based on the lens data in the firmware. Canon EOS 550D and higher have it, Nikon D5000 or higher have it. D3100 yes... D3000 I'm not sure.

Don't worry too much about it... it can be corrected using software too. Just an extra step.

Thanks for the info. Sadly D3000 doesn't have this feature.  sad.gif

In fact... now only I appreciate the Kelvin White Balance. When I first started, didn't know it existed and didn't care.

I recommend Nikon 18-200VR (Current version VR) the all in one power lens. This is the lens I use most often. Anyway...for the D3100 users, any feedback about the overheating problem when VR and AF are on during recording. Was reading that it happens after 5-6 mins of video recording.

Don't worry too much about the filter. All UV filters degrade the image quality only more or less so. It is mainly for scratch protection for the lens.

Yea ! Budget.  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

@celciuz - Is the Kenko UV filter included with your lens good ?  hmm.gif

Eventually, like all other kits, there will be shops who will be willing to split it and sell the body and seperately.

Nikon Malaysia don't sell entry level DSLR bodies.
They usually come with kitlens.

I'm kinda interested in the D3100 BODY too, but sadly no body available to sell.

Just testing out new Kenko close-up extension ring 36mm this pic is a close up of Asus Eee PC keyboard using 18-200 VR lens handheld. It seems be able to go very close to the subject but is not able to focus at certain ranges and with the 35mm DX f1.8 it has to praactically be touching the subject to be in focus.

Interestingly, I saw one body only box on sale at Poon in Ipoh this morning. It is a gold box with the word D3100 on it selling for RM 1700. There is body only pack after all smile.gif

QUOTE(celciuz @ Oct 20 2010, 09:18 AM)
LOL I guess no choice since D3100 doesn't come in body only package from Nikon right?
