Exactly. There's a member in this section who had used the sketch app on his iPad to draw his sketches a while back. I'm looking for a longer, finer tipped stylus-like pen to do my own jotting, but current offerings like the Pogo doesn't equip it with a finer tip. The Pendel stylus looks promising but hadn't been made available since its introduction.

It also can be used as a second screen using the Air Display/Maxi Vista app as well. Good for setting up frequently viewed stats and info without cluttering your main LCD display on your computer. biggrin.gif

I used to be able to do that using Mocha VNC and Dyndns.org for static IP, but that connection has been broken since I tried it more than 6 months ago. There are other options, but it involves installing a client on your desktop and then installing and running apps associated with these clients to connect remotely to your desktop. These apps are iTeleport/Jaadu VNC , iTap RDP Client and LogMeIn Ignition.

Stringfellow,

Thanks a lot for the input. I've successfully setup both rdp and vnc connections thru both local and public ips.

I guess the limitation i have for the iPad now is the connection speed. I'm now able to access my computer at home and run whatever i please to. From flash based website to emailing my own stuffs, all i need is a good connection and I may leave my mbp and desktop running at a remote location.

Guys,

I just found another function and use of VNC....

U can actually use iPad as a magic trackpad, only better where it displays the whole desktop screen and with keyboard functions ~!

Just lie on the bed with the iPad and control your desktop with it...need not scroll the pointer all the way to button. just click on the ipad.... smile.gif

guys, just got my ipad 2 minutes ago...brand new...now charging...is it wise to use it now WHILE CHARGING for the first time??

because i assume hardware products nowadays doesnt require you to fully charge your hardware for like full 10 hours long before you can start using it..but then again, better safe than sorry...

so would it be alright if i use it while charging it now?

thank you

Jason,

Need not charge ur iPad for 8 hours for the first time. Just enjoy it out of the box.

@tinkerbel

Ive subscribed for blackvpn(5 pound per month). Can use ABC player. Hulu may watch videos using desktop/laptop, but need invitation in order to access it thru iPad. Pandora works like a charm. I think getting vpn just for it is well worth the money.

Planning to subscribe for netflix(USD 9.99 per month), but am abit worry about the connection speed though. So need some input from the guys over here. Even on unifi 5mb, im getting interrupted buffering time. Might be due to the vpn server, but i need to test it further to tell for real.

Seems like i need to spend more money to get more out of the iPad.

BTW, i have skype subscription as well and able to call any malaysian land/mobile line with my iPad. Worth the money as well. I now have an oversize iphone ~!! biggrin.gif

how's the content like for netflix? I am still considering if i should subscribe it. Connection is not a problem since i'm on 10mbps at home and 2mbps wireless when i'm out, both unlimited.

Netflix selection

If ur location is @ Msia, u have to take into consideration of the VPN server speed at well.

Want some clarification.

what's the actual version of the iOS released yesterday?

4.2 or 4.2.1 ?
