Hmmph, as I go through my options, it seems that I might have to cut down my list of purchases from Jaben way down.
Now standing in the way of my purchase is a Sansa Clip+, Fischer Audio DBA-02 and a RM400 pair of Puma shoes. |

QUOTE(aztoiozalan @ Nov 23 2010, 09:45 PM) Actually, it's to complement the DDM.Not only is it a dual driver BA (as opposed to DDM's dual dynamic) but it also has a totally different sound signature, more to the analytical side. They're both similar but technologically two different animals. Would be quite interesting to add to my collection. Maybe it'll only be a DDM and Graham Slee Voyager that I'll be getting from Jaben. Added on November 23, 2010, 9:55 pm QUOTE(C-Note @ Nov 23 2010, 09:46 PM) Nah, my curiosity for the DDM got the best of me. I just need to have that. And after reading reviews for the DBA, I just have to have that too. This post has been edited by tunertoobe: Nov 23 2010, 09:56 PM |

If only these two can be merged into a single IEM.

Later on as my financial income advances, I'll look into a triple driver. Was going for the UM3x but then I thought, "Nah, still too early".
Later on, I'll go custom. |

Well, I'd need to have a 5 figure savings first.
No one has ever talked about a Future Sonic custom here. No one ever tried one? Depending on the mood and the music I listen to, I do want details. Other times I'd look for a fun IEM. This post has been edited by tunertoobe: Nov 24 2010, 10:31 AM |

Haha, to my eyes right now they're a bit overpriced for what they are.
Hey, I see from your siggy You have a Clip+ and a Gumstick. Tell me, how does the 2 compare when it comes to sound? Do you use those amps you have with both? |

QUOTE(Farenhei147 @ Nov 24 2010, 12:50 PM) comparison to sound... Clip+ lack of power output is something that makes it inferior to Class A amp Gumstick when it comes to full sound presentation, basically Gumstick performs more in terms of bringing out sound in IEMs or such compared to Clip+ when connecting directly. But, in terms of balance, Clip+ wins since Gumstick has this issue of... fixed equalizer from the start... Well, even looking at the graph the Clip+ is obviously has one of the flattest freq presentation around. So does that mean the Clip+ will synergize better with an amp?Well, if I'm not really going around too much, I would connect amp to them. |

But the Gumstick doesn't actually flat line right? So comes the question, would a very neutral and flat player perform well with an amp?

FAD produces some really weird stuff.
So that thing doesn't need any ear tips or pads? So a bit like Bose's In-Ear only without the silicon tips. |

Well, the Bose did have a good amount of bass. Then that's just the problem. Bose tried so much to produce their sound signature(bass) in a semi IEM, that in order to do so the bass was in the way of the other freq. It's hard to direct all that air into the ear when the air can easily leak out. Sure there's thump you wouldn't expect from this design, but it kinda smears the whole sound. Not that bad sounding, but for the nit-picky it will not satisfy(and the Bose is overpriced, as might this FAD earbud be).
However, the Bose Triport In-Ear had only a 9mm driver, this FAD with a massive 15.5mm driver may be able to produce that bass with better detail. However, we can never be sure enough till proper testing of course. |

Speaking of customs, has anyone ever tried Future Sonics customs? I've never seen any mention of anyone using them here.

BTW it shouldn't be as expensive as those multi driver BA customs right?
Maybe it will be my first custom IEM......in 2 or 3 years. |

QUOTE(Snowguy2068 @ Nov 28 2010, 09:39 AM) Very. Not top of the line Final Audio Design expensive, but expensive nonetheless, and better sounding. They're like the Formula 1 of the IEM world. Not all of them are "that" good, but surely beats the crap out of every other ones out there.I'm not sure how they do it either. All I know is, you have to get an ear impression. QUOTE(boomber @ Nov 28 2010, 10:18 AM) NEver heard of it either but I know there is a guy selling it, rm400 something for M5 not cheap though. RM400? You mean turning an ordinary Future Sonics into a custom? If you go to the Future Sonics website, there is a custom that uses an entirely different driver. They're called the mg5pro and the mg6pro. And from international prices, they're considerably cheaper compared to multi driver BA customs(which is to be expected), but still around RM3k+. I'm surprised they didn't get as much attention since the founder of Future Sonics is basically the father of on stage ear monitors. Very interested here, but in 2-3 years la. |

The M5 is from FS's universal line. Now it has a new driver, the 10mm MG7.
The mg5pro and the mg6pro uses new 10mm and 13mm drivers respectively. I've only read review of the old Ear Monitors with the older driver. According to that review, from subjective hearing the Ear Monitors really sings. The imaging and soundstage, the bass(of course Looking at the graph however, there are some ugly dips in certain freq that suggests some recessed vocals and other stuff. Then again it could be intentional. Remember FS makes the Ear Monitors for stage purposes and they are the pioneer in it. So those freq dips are meant to be there so that they reproduce what you actually hear from live concert speakers. Maybe that's what contributed to their "real-life" sound. After reading that review, I am really interested in having these as my first ever custom. Of course, I'd have to get a proper job, save a lot of money and move to a place close enough to Jaben Malaysia. |

I have a budget setup(Hippo Gumstick and SoundMAGIC PL50) and it can already show a noticeable difference between 192 kbps and 320 kbps mp3. A higher end setup can go a step further and you can probably differentiate between different codecs.
That is if your ears are up to it. |

QUOTE(Watta?? @ Nov 28 2010, 09:51 PM) well.. you dont need high end stuff to notice the diff.. even my ipod + hippo box and DT231 pro can differentiate losses and 320 kbps very noticeably.. Yeah I know, even on my budget setup I can hear the difference. 320 mp3 and flac can be differentiated(and I did a blind test with the help of a friend), definitely not placebo. What I meant was that a high end setip can go that step further until to the point you can even tell between LAME mp3 and Fhg, or mp3 and a comparable nero AAC, <--I'm not up to that yet. Ans Showguy, I rip my CDs to flac, so those are my only sources of flac. I have stunbled upon flac on the internet but I dunno if they're the kinda music you're into. What kinda music do you like? Because the genres do affect what quality is being uploaded on the net(due to the people that listen to them). This post has been edited by tunertoobe: Nov 28 2010, 10:01 PM |

Ooooooh. Very rarely are these artists' songs are uploaded in flac. In fact I don't think I ever found any. I do see a lot of Muse, 3 Doors Down, and an uncountable amount of orchestral recordings and acoustic recordings being uploaded in FLAC. Most you can find are probably in high quality mp3.
