If you really want to improve your SQ, I think the first step will be getting good source of music. Beginners tend to own lots of MP3 collection but try to rip your music collection into loseless format.
After that only you consider to get a decent soundcard for your dekstop, in this case USB soundcard with decent DAC chip. I think this is crucial if you really into good quality music, no point you get an amp and amplify your noise in your MP3 + noise produced by your notebook soundcard. Agree? Getting an amp is something to do after your source in proper quality.

ive only noe untill now..that grados or alesandro cans can do alot of mods with it..or at least wut ive seen..beyer not so much mods eh i pressume

Hmmph, as I go through my options, it seems that I might have to cut down my list of purchases from Jaben way down.

Now standing in the way of my purchase is a Sansa Clip+, Fischer Audio DBA-02 and a RM400 pair of Puma shoes.

Get the DBA and you won't need anything else at least not until you try the top-tiers..
