thx yuheng for the wonderful headphone..hahah..bought the Shure SRH440..originally was planning to get Audio Technica AD300 or Shure SRH240 but yuheng poison me to the Shure SRH440 tongue.gif
*
I tested the SRH440 and everything was fine, fit and finish was way higher than what its valued, sonic quality was outstanding, plus it is closed so it makes it even nicer...

Sure you can mod it someday from Closed to open, but the thing that made me choose another headphone was the cable!!!! I hate em!!!...looks like those telephone cables sad.gif

But if I were to buy Shure, I'd get the 840 and 440 everytime wink.gif

my advice is,

learn the characteristics of the amps u are planning to get vs the ones u already have...if you have a 'warm' amp already, no point of going warmer... try to get an amp that might suit the octaves instead...

try to get those rechargeable built in batteries amp...something decent like the Ordnance .22 or the E7...

and last advice, try to plan ahead, for example get an amp you can live with for another 2-4 years before you upgrade again...

and don't forget to get a decent quality interconnects...trust me, it helps eliminates the squeaks and output distortion if u plan to move around...

for my personal opinion, HD650 would be more valuable compare to the other 4 as this series would be discontinued edi.
for the sound, i only love the HD650 sound with the pcwork`s symphonica
otherwise i would go for esw9 as it more portable n light yet the sound is good as well

for the D5k n W1k, i would not give any opinion as i never tried the unit before.

most of the headphones u list need an amp to pair with it except for the esw9.

I always prefer built in battery amps, but let's say if u like warm only no point upgrading to other type, as u only like warm, just go With what u like smile.gif

yea..originally was looking at Audio Technica AD300 and Shure 240..i love the audio technica but due to it's open air form..kinda dislike it..cause can hear noises from outside easily..+ others can hear the music clearly..since i travel alot..i dowan to receive complain from the guy sitting beside me biggrin.gif

mod from close to open? as in like the ad300? would it be better after mod? O_O and can it be re-mod bak to close? tongue.gif hahah sorry..im still a noob in audiophile..but willing to learn.. true also, the cable looks just like a telephone line..but then again, i love it..cause it wont tangle up and create a mess tongue.gif

I would say that all 4 cans are good, and all 4 have different signatures. Do take the time to listen to them so you can find one that suits your taste in music smile.gif
