QUOTE(T0|\|`/ @ May 3 2005, 05:55 PM)
There's also another beta bios for the NF7/S from tictac here.

Bios Version : D27
Bios name : Taipan 0.1 EB ED

Change Log :
- 2T Timing

Looks like it's based on the latest Abit bios v2.7:

BIOS: nf7d27.exe

Bios Issue Date:2004/11/22
Mirror Site: 1 2
BIOS ID:2.7

   1. Updated SATA ROM V4.2.5.0.
   2. Updated CPU micro code.
   3. BIOS compile date: 11/22/2004

Interesting - I'm gonna compare this one with the D26 Mantaray XT soon.
*
I wonder, apart from "how to update/flash bios", can we discuss the bios performance ere? I mean in terms of overclocking. Infact any modded bios, lazy to create more thread and don wanna waste bandwidth and couldn't find the previous thread disscussion about the modded NF7-S bios. Thread starter can or not?

So T0|\|`/, hows the performance? compared to the D26 Mantaray XT? U're using the 2T right?

QUOTE(ceo684 @ May 20 2005, 01:56 PM)
does the bios from tictac have a 100% ok rate in lowyat.net users' mobo? biggrin.gif

and uh..the cpu micro code support thingy is for sempron support?
*
Y.B. Tan Sri CEO, so far most of tictac's bios user is OK with the bios, infact they even gain better performance when using the bios, but not sure bout the beta version.
I've tried with the AN7 modded bios by tictac a few months ago and gain a few MHz improvement (with standard bios with a mobile cpu, the memory is a bit reluctant to go above 215MHz but with modded bios >230Mhz is a jiff).

regarding the cpu micro code, if the bios is based on the ori abit's latest micro code than the same micro code is used for the moded bios. Need to refer to the ori bios microcode description to confirm wheter it support sempron or not.

1T is better, but depends on what ram and mobo u're using... on an NF2 mobo + double sided ram, i'll recomend using 2T for stability and greater clock speed.

im using mantaray
highest i got was 251mhz
that was with super relax timing
decided to go back to 240 with tighter timing
*
Oh, you did get above 251Mhz with mantaray... what chips is your ram? single/double sided? A lot of the mantaray's users reported a good result with the bios, i dunno cause now i'm trying with the d27 3D fire (2T).. still burning in though.

biggrin.gif hey xcrue.. may i suggest you change the title of your thread to a:

NF7/NF7-S Rev2.0 Modded Bios: Discussions and Results

Please? Cause I'm sure a lot of us NF7/NF7-S modded bios user will contribute thumbup.gif and perhaps the mod/staff can combine another thread about the D26Matarays with this one..

Just my 2 rupiah... but surely i'll be your strongest supporter for this thread thumbup.gif .. and nice to see sifoo tictac here commenting and guiding us thumbup.gif

nice, what fsb n multiplier u using?cant contact the french ..my mobo cant go more thn 225fsb...why?
*
Actually xcrue what are you trying to achieve?

1. Highest GHz
2. Highest Benchmark score

If Highest GHz.. i'd suggest u try loosing you ram timings and is your ram one sided or two sided ram (i'm not familiar with corsair's) 1 sided (as in you chips oni on one side of the ram pcb) will work great on 1T and vice versa..

If highest bechmark score/highest fsb.. well.. tight timings at high fsb, then again you bh6's is oni fed with max Vdimm of 2.9, sad to say but it's either you do a Vdimm mod or OCZ DDR booster.

Do take note that if using the D27 3D fire bios, you'll need to do an L12 hard mod for your board cause the L12 soft mod is not included with the bios.. (correct me if i'm wrong tictac sweat.gif )

aiyah just a simple wire mod, will take less than 5 minutes, it's worth it la.

I'm confused.....I have a single sided 256Mb Stick and what will give me higher FSB: 1T or 2T?
*
Try 1T, double sided rams work best with 2T on an NF2 chipset... but benchies scores're a bit whoosy(the 2T one).

well, sir, if you're planning to flash the modded bios (1T or 2T depending on you ram), yes it can be done to your NF7-S ver2 rig, cause we're discussing about it now, in this thread i mean. The L12 mod oso can be done to you mobo thumbup.gif

and thanks again to mr dictionary, Mr PCcrazy for sorting things out in here thumbup.gif

any  guide  to mod L12  ??
*
well xcrue.. which L12 mod you want? The soft mod L12 or the wire mod L12.. most of tictac's modded bios are L12 soft mod embedded.. except for the D27 modded bios which required the wire mod... just be vewy-vewy carefull when doing the wire mod eventhough it's look easy.

which mod. bios you tried ? normally tictac's bios give lower momery bandwidth than merlin's one. have you try tictac's d27 fire 3D ? I cant get fsb over 230mhz.... sad.gif
*
Well it was both the D26 Mantaray's and D27 3D fire's bios by Tictacs.. my max fsb is 245 (with L12 wire mod of course) but i've got some temp issue which causes instability when priming.

dunno wo, the ram with blue sinks covered(KHX-2700). if i use 1T i need to L12 mod? now i'm using 1T, cos i felt not smooth with 2T...now still haven't clock.
*
yours is the single sided ram, try loosen up the timings when oc'ing then oni tweak to the tightest stable one. Wheter must mod the L12 or not mebbe my post in this thread can give you the idea here.Click here :Should mod L12 or Not?
QUOTE(thefryingfox @ Jun 29 2005, 08:30 PM)
using tictac's mantaray xt
i can achieve 235. dont want to go higher as my rams suck at higher speed. currently ram's are doing 2.5/3/3/11 which i think brings the best performance ratio that i can have at 235mhz tongue.gif
*
Hey a lot of users are having a good oc with tictac's mantaray's bios, thumbup.gif , It was based on the D26 Abit bios and tictac and his team did well in improvising them... dang, wish i've joined this forum earlier. cry.gif

thank you amok...i'm not OC'ing to get highest speed, just want to clock it above 2.0 or maybe a bit more...still wondering wat software to do burn in...tried sisoft. priming not sure how to use, got 3 options. any advice? the fundamentals only recommend softwares to be used but not how to use them.
*
For burning in try cpu-burn in.. download it here Click CPU Burn-In Page. when running the burn in s/ware, tick disable error checking for maximum heat generation, burn in at least 5 hrs.. and, good luck. thumbup.gif
QUOTE(T0|\|`/ @ Jun 30 2005, 11:12 AM)
eh, sorry ah, I thought this thread had died after almost a month of no-replies.

To be honest, I kinda liked the Taipan after running stable at 2505Mhz, but the temps were worrying so I've dropped it down to 2405. Seeing this thread again has reminded me to retest the Mantaray and 3dfire (if I managed to d/l it before the board went down).
*
What happened? How come you mobo went down (sorry i didn't go through all the forums here if you'd posted it).. Neway, we're collecting results now, if xcrue can build a d/base it'll be great thumbup.gif thumbup.gif .

Just did the L12 wire mod. Load optimised defaults in bios and I got 166mhz fsb. Havent push to higher fsb but in sandra memory benchmark, i got lower bandwidth. sad.gif

Updated: Just flash to D27 3Dfire 1T and finally i got 252fsb. Will push higher soon  smile.gif
*
brows.gif gsan, that's it man thumbup.gif thumbup.gif , you're using a delicious chips, can push higher meh..

by the way as for the rest the tictac's D27 3Dfire does not include the soft L12 mod.. you have to do the wire mod your self.
