 Problem with AV amp

To all the sifus out there, would be grateful for your input. Bought Harmon Kardon avr 255 about 18 mths ago. initially ok till 6 mths ago when it automatically switches off after about 60 minutes use watching dvd/blu-rays. Subsequently sent to supplier's base in JB who 'fixed' it. When I got it back, seemed ok but then it switches off after 2 hrs usage. So it's back in JB now and has been there for the past 4 mths.

I'm no expert but it seems to be an overheating problem when I researched on other forums. Would an external laptop cooling fan be useful in this situation?

Also a word of advice. Don't buy any HK products here because their technical staff is totally clueless.

HK..hmm..if in JB must be in AES opposite Giant Plentong.

You can always try something like that fan idea rather than leave it as a paper weight at the service center.

I knw tis is rather useless.. but HK's r notoriously un-robust..
They r rather hi pwrd but its durability rvws leave a lot to be desired.. best to go wif de d jap cntrlld brands..

4 months is too damn long, man! If they cant figure out what's wrong, they should just replace with a new unit

Hi i experienced same problem with my Yamaha receiver, the unit will over heat and when turn up the volume it'll auto shut off..send to Yamaha and got repaired..apparently some thing to do with the faulty transistor ..

 

Change to:
