Helo mysa,

Jhanas is mystic stage of deep mental concentration.
Magga is a special consciousness that arises in the mind that destroys defilements permanently. Phala is the after-effect of magga.

extra note: jhana is very achievable, please try it. won't take a lifetime too, a year will do even if you believe you're 'untalented.'

I haven't actually tried 100% into the samatha practice but I heard that one need seclusion and 8 precepts.

Actually I am not good at vipassana too.  sad.gif

no regular practice how to be good, hahaha.

just remember that even for one breath while in samatha, for that one breath you're in concentration. then you keep up with the second breath, then the third, then the fourth.

I quite regular ler but still don't see much result. OK, results maybe got in having more saddha (faith) and the path I am walking. Less anxiety. Maybe more understanding of buddhism.

But vipassana nanas or jhanas no wor - maybe i am dihetuka ler? 2 good roots only ? hmm.gif

don't put those stories in your head la. jhana is not that mystical, just creating a new habit in your head like learning how to play football.

I heard that Jhanas is very hard to maintain. Must nurse like a baby. Break a bit of precept or indulge in some sensual pleasures, it's gone.

Those people that can get into the jhanas  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

very powderful mind.

yea, usually very hard solid jhanas once you come out of retreat then worry about wife/girlfriend, kids, paying bills, what clothes to wear, what movies to watch will affect the thoughts that come up during your sit.

but it's important to know what concentration feels like at the very least so when you vipassana you'll know if you're in lethargy and just drifting in thoughts. that's true for me doing mahasi noting at least, other people may have different experiences.
