Guys.., how long is the waiting list for the Golf 1.4 TSI if I book today? I am planning to get the white one.

since this is a VW thread specifically for Polo & Rocco, i wanted to ask bout your opinions.

with the 1.2 Polo being so affordable, will it be a better buy for the purpose of 1)weekend car 2)family car 3)personal outing car; compared to the 1.4 tsi?

the reason is because i am going to have a company car for my work soon(a 4x4), so my current ride would probably be left at home only to be used when either 3 need above is required.

my intention is to sell my current ride for something smaller & more economical, since the family already has a mpv & family sedan for the general family outing. my new ride will be a backup or alternative only, otherwise it will be almost exclusively my own use.

p/s: for the same purpose, can rocco ferry 5 people comfortably? at least for short distance (like family dinner), because if we are going outstation the other family sedan/mpv would be used instead.

sigh, why some people have to respond so aggressively? i wasn't asking blanks. i can't test drive every single car in VW unless i want them to brand me "gao gao zhan mou pong chan". the 1.4 TSi was really good and close to what i was looking for, but just wondering how "less good" the 1.2 would be, if anyone here knows.

so unless you want someone to sit ON the middle, and they actually like that, then yes. it can seat 5 comfortably.

actually, i thought the golf was a brilliant car. reading how the new Jetta will be a sedan vers of Golf, that it makes it even better choice.

too bad the new Jetta is still a long way to reach here, & i would probably want to sell my car by this year end if possible.

I dunno much about, just saw the papers that day and I didn't even notice that it had 4 doors (it was the gf who said "it's got 4 doors!! but defeats the purpose of it being a Mini"    )

From the looks of it, it feels like it's made to grab the VW Golf's market share
Oh I forgot to add

- Golf has much smoother gear change (super duper smooth that I was quite shocked) compared to the Mini which very often you'd feel the jerk especially when you can't go fast... it's not a car for driving slow or on roads with heavy traffic
bro.. I did test the new Golf before and I found the road noise kinda irritating (especially when I was sitting behind)...  However, sitting in front, not much.. didn't go 140km/h during the test drive (only hit 120km/h to see how many RPM was 110km/h) was the roads were quite heavy with traffic

Anyway... the new Golf. Not a perfect car but plenty darn good in many areas if you ask me. That's why I'm kinda waiting for the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta to compare (once an Alfisti, kinda hard to not drive an Alfa)

the DSG I tested (not got!! ) was actually the new Golf's 7 speed
cruise control la on the highway!!! ( I believe I did mention that this car will get you a lot of speeding tickets a few weeks back when I test drove it  )

Alfa 159 sedan la... dun quite like.. I like hot hatches that's why the Guiletta is in my sights...

I'm also a bit not used to driving quiet cars.. hehe... always thought that cars should have a bit and nice balance of engine and exhaust roar to enhance driving experience

I thought that the smoothness of this new Golf's DSG was much better than any CVT or CVVT engine car (those jap cars) that I've driven before leh

my old 6 speed is not that smooth, during jams it's more noticeable, it switches from 1st to 2nd to 1st in a not so smooth manner... but when you floor it, the shift time is unbelievably quick at 150ms... just love the sound!

yeah, the downshift when you are about to stop is the not so smooth gearchange

Info on fuel consumption for my golf,  just had 2nd refill..so technically only one time going thru full tank

- 1st refill at 329km ( SA provide half tank )

- 2nd refill at 892km - 48.84L - fuel consumption about 11.5km/l with 70/30% more on highway driving. Still in break-in period so even on highway I keep varying speed. Both using Petronas Ron 95, will try Shell V-power after few petronas refill.

superficial differences that cost over 50k. very nicely justified. 

autoworld review mentions that Msia is the only market where VW's gti model outsells the more everyday model. guess we are pretty pricey on impressions over substances compared to the rest of the world.

the turbo sound can be heard ( a little) on the 2.0 turbo GTI, at lower revs when you press the throttle down.
about the 1.4, i can't hear any supercharger whining sound though. not sure about the turbo

Seat wise, Fiesta is more comfortable than Polo.
