hello guys n girls,

since this is a VW thread specifically for Polo & Rocco, i wanted to ask bout your opinions.

with the 1.2 Polo being so affordable, will it be a better buy for the purpose of 1)weekend car 2)family car 3)personal outing car; compared to the 1.4 tsi?

the reason is because i am going to have a company car for my work soon(a 4x4), so my current ride would probably be left at home only to be used when either 3 need above is required.

my intention is to sell my current ride for something smaller & more economical, since the family already has a mpv & family sedan for the general family outing. my new ride will be a backup or alternative only, otherwise it will be almost exclusively my own use.

p/s: for the same purpose, can rocco ferry 5 people comfortably? at least for short distance (like family dinner), because if we are going outstation the other family sedan/mpv would be used instead.

dude .. rocco is a 4seater car smile.gif

dude, thats why i am asking "can rocco ferry 5 people comfortably"

sigh, why some people have to respond so aggressively? i wasn't asking blanks. i can't test drive every single car in VW unless i want them to brand me "gao gao zhan mou pong chan". the 1.4 TSi was really good and close to what i was looking for, but just wondering how "less good" the 1.2 would be, if anyone here knows.

thx 1st.
*
wow.. u r a bit too sensitive dude... how did i response aggressively to u ? i called u a "dude".. ended with a "smiley". if that's aggressive .. i have nothing much to say .. haha..

anyways it's a 4seater (4 physical shaped-seats)..

@eddie_al: sorry mate, but how was yan's reply aggressive?

the rocco has 4 individual fixed seats:

so unless you want someone to sit ON the middle, and they actually like that, then yes. it can seat 5 comfortably.

thanks bro .. we had the same thing in mind... picture speaks a thousand words ..

actually, i thought the golf was a brilliant car. reading how the new Jetta will be a sedan vers of Golf, that it makes it even better choice.

too bad the new Jetta is still a long way to reach here, & i would probably want to sell my car by this year end if possible.

sorry (to yan) & thx again for earlier comments.

no worries dude... we'r all here to make frens and share smile.gif no hard feelings dude

to Yan,

mind telling me where and what's the price for your car tinting ? also which model ? planning to get one now and it's probably between 3M or llumar.

do they remove all 4 doors inside cover ? thanks.
*
came with the package. insisted my SA do it for me for free and i think VW is tied up with 3M. As FA also giving free tint from 3M. so far the looks and the quality is good. Also no problem watsoever using smarttag. My prev v-cool very susah... success rate using Smartag mayb 70%. so always gotta prepare to jam on the brakes in case the gate doesn't open. but so far this 3M tinting is quite reliable. 10/10 gate opens. summore i tint quite dark already ...

LOL.. off topic here a bit ah... tongue.gif

I dunno much about, just saw the papers that day and I didn't even notice that it had 4 doors (it was the gf who said "it's got 4 doors!! but defeats the purpose of it being a Mini"  laugh.gif  )

From the looks of it, it feels like it's made to grab the VW Golf's market share
Oh I forgot to add

- Golf has much smoother gear change (super duper smooth that I was quite shocked) compared to the Mini which very often you'd feel the jerk especially when you can't go fast... it's not a car for driving slow or on roads with heavy traffic
bro.. I did test the new Golf before and I found the road noise kinda irritating (especially when I was sitting behind)...  However, sitting in front, not much.. didn't go 140km/h during the test drive (only hit 120km/h to see how many RPM was 110km/h) was the roads were quite heavy with traffic

Anyway... the new Golf. Not a perfect car but plenty darn good in many areas if you ask me. That's why I'm kinda waiting for the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta to compare (once an Alfisti, kinda hard to not drive an Alfa) brows.gif
*
actually i find the car's sound insulation from outside is super good. u can't hear the other cars / vehicles but the only complain is internally u can hear the engine and road noise. but on the RE050 seems ok tho still new and of coz a bit louder but i expect the sound to go down after the tyres are run-in proper.

Before buying the 1.4TSI i went to test drive the Alfa 159. Very gd handling and comfortable but dun think is my type of car, very jerky esp when u wanna hav a "shock" boost.. SA explained to me that it's coz it's like a "manual" car just it auto-clutch for u .... haha... if u can understand wat i'm trying to say ...

loving the DSG dude... hit 180km/h easily ..at between 3k-4k rpm i think (if not mistaken) .. had a short burst of speed yesterday ard 2am along nkve...lolx

beetle - 2 door slow poke.. hehe

the DSG I tested (not got!! tongue.gif ) was actually the new Golf's 7 speed
cruise control la on the highway!!! ( I believe I did mention that this car will get you a lot of speeding tickets a few weeks back when I test drove it  tongue.gif )

Alfa 159 sedan la... dun quite like.. I like hot hatches brows.gif that's why the Guiletta is in my sights...

I'm also a bit not used to driving quiet cars.. hehe... always thought that cars should have a bit and nice balance of engine and exhaust roar to enhance driving experience thumbup.gif

I thought that the smoothness of this new Golf's DSG was much better than any CVT or CVVT engine car (those jap cars) that I've driven before leh blink.gif
*
yah i agree with u .. the DSG on VW is much better than any jap cvt / vvti / cvvt engines.. no comparison .. haha

better in terms of smoothness?
my old 6 speed is not that smooth, during jams it's more noticeable, it switches from 1st to 2nd to 1st in a not so smooth manner... but when you floor it, the shift time is unbelievably quick at 150ms... just love the sound!
*
u r right the 1st and 2nd not that smooth ... wat i meant was when u floor it .. the smoothness of power and boost is just amazing... just watch as ur speedometer go fr 0........50....80...110...140...180... haha..

Info on fuel consumption for my golf,  just had 2nd refill..so technically only one time going thru full tank

- 1st refill at 329km ( SA provide half tank )

- 2nd refill at 892km - 48.84L - fuel consumption about 11.5km/l with 70/30% more on highway driving. Still in break-in period so even on highway I keep varying speed. Both using Petronas Ron 95, will try Shell V-power after few petronas refill.

wow not bad... guess i'm a bit more heavy footed smile.gif

superficial differences that cost over 50k. very nicely justified.  nod.gif

autoworld review mentions that Msia is the only market where VW's gti model outsells the more everyday model. guess we are pretty pricey on impressions over substances compared to the rest of the world.
*
haha... ur thoughts exactly like mine. i always wanted to get the VW Golf but can't bring myself to part with 200k for a C-Sec car. So with the coming of the TSI model at a much cheaper price.. it was a dream come true.. esp when u can always mod it to ard GTI's ori hp ..

I can't really believe my eyes.. the milege on the 1.4 TSI is out of this world. Just came back fr mlk attending a wedding .. look at the pic below.. theoretically it can travel 700km maintaining 120km/h. (cruise control). And this is after i already drove 1 day in the city from yesterday. That is the computer's calculation. But in actual fact, i tapau the car later on the way home 150-180km/h and still more than 50% fuel left .. i'm really amazed. u get the fun, the speed and the savings on petrol... amazing stuff...

wat an experience, when i started the journey the estimated mileage till need for refuel was at 330km.. then as i travel more the odo keep on increasing and the "need for refuel" also kept on increasing ... 330-340..... 400...530km + my odo 170km ... gives ard 700km... mana ada semakin drive .. semakin longer i can go ..haha... was laughing in amazement with my gf all thru the journey to mlk ...

the turbo sound can be heard ( a little) on the 2.0 turbo GTI, at lower revs when you press the throttle down.
about the 1.4, i can't hear any supercharger whining sound though. not sure about the turbo
*
if u unwind the windows.. u can actually hear fr the 1.4.. the whining sound at low rev and even at high rev another diff sound .. wink.gif tried that a few times .. quite nice actually ...
