Unless you consulted Lilian Too or Joey Yap and they said you must have bamboo around you, just get the U35Jc. Asus claims the Bamboo uses 15% less plastic and you will be paying RM1K for using less plastic. smile.gif Note that the bamboo is the same thickness as 3 sheets of paper so it's probably more like a veneer than real bamboo.

It just depends on whether you would like to pay more to save the world nod.gif
The U33Jc is more eco-friendly than the normal U35J

Decided to go for ASUS - U33JC-RX067 (Bamboo Collection). I just nego and re-nego with Evernew people and looks like the different is RM750. For RM750 extra is because of limited design (Notebook & mouse), bigger HD capacity, USB 3.0, 4gb ram (Will go for 8gb - Max) and managed to talk down on extra 2 years local warranty (Foc) so that means the notebook is under protection for 4 years (2 years international and 2 years local). All this for extra RM750.

Is it a good deal?

design wise, it's really up to personal taste...

anyway, my opinion is:

1) USB3.0 is not the mainstream, so it's pretty useless now, and may not be the mainstream in the future either due to the presence of Light Peak

2) u can get another 1yr of warranty from Asus and make it 3yrs int'l... imho for laptops, 3yrs is more or less there... moreover the 2yrs local warranty u get is provided covered by the shop only... so touch wood if the shop close down, ur that 2yrs of warranty is worthless since u can't claim from Asus...

3) HDD is not really that expensive nowadays... if it's a Seagate Momentus XT then it's a different story.. .tongue.gif

so, conclusion, a no from me...

Simple, when u about to purchase new notebook, ask them about the warranty options. Always go for max warranty (If u can afford it). Like my case I will go for the max. I doubt Evernew will closed down. They been in the market more then 7 years. They have reputation to uphold. If it happens then lol. I think within 2 years i sell off my notebook already hehe

But the warranty extended is not officially from Asus right? O___O
yeah, I always go for the max too but some Asus laptops only offer 1 year international warranty and I think its not secure enough, to me tongue.gif

that u'll ve to check with Evernew when their own warranty starts...

if u ask me, 5yrs warranty on a non-business laptop is way overkill... fact is, by the 2nd yr, u'll probably start thinking abt getting a new one...

Lol, I fully agreed with you bro. My current Asus F6A has 1 year warranty with Evernew. I selling it now for RM1k. Still seeking for buyer lol. I have to agreed with you lah bro. I think adding RM188 is totally unnecessary. But how to extent the international warranty? Have to become member first or key in the serial number?

Just check with Asus support. we have to pay RM320 or RM360 (Can't recall correctly) for 1 year extension. Payment have to be made at (Kuala Lumpur)
G-2,Ground Floor,IT@SPS,Wisma SPS,Jalan Imbi 55100, Kuala Lumpur Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia. An official receipt will be released and then only will be official 1 year extension.

As with any organic product, these patterns and textures may change with time. These are due to the natural characteristics of bamboo and do not indicate a defective material.
so think again...

Wahhh cry.gif . And I will find bamboo tree and redo lor nod.gif . If cannot then Mr Asus have to help me out lor rclxms.gif .

Btw, fyi if anyone out there getting bamboo version max ram u can go is 4gb only. If u go for 8gb your nb will occasionally restart by itself and blue screen will sometimes appear. Not only that, no refund on your ram. Was a waste. This incident happen to one malay couple (both bamboo and both 8gb and both same issue sweat.gif ) What a waste of RM2k for 8gb ram sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif . Problem solved when Evernew technician took out 4gb (1 slot) all back to normal. Lucky me sweat.gif

Last advise please install win7 32-bit and big no no to win7 64-bit. 64-bit really pisses me off. Most of the software can't use DEMMM IT cry.gif

For me i take off the battery because I'm using it for days now. Currently into blurays 1080p hehe. Today my 4th day on my notebook. Room with fully aircon. Hardly sun penetrate thru my room lol. Let's see how long this baby can last. My previous Asus F6A can last for 2 months without turning off and managed to sold off RM1500 with 1 year warranty.
