have u heard of P90X workout that work on "muscle confusion" principle?

before ur muscle/body can adapt to ur workout, u change ur regime thus making the muscle/body confuse and burnt more fat

working out by watching heart rate is effective too but could be to strenuous to other

get motivated by buying mio watch from me
then learn from mioglobal website about its function

count ur calories (there are many android/iphone apps)

change ur routine after 3 weeks
watch P90X workout

tabata / interval training / javorek's conditioning
