yerp... my previous weight is 105kg.. the heaviest that i've achieved is 115kg. when i realize i'm too heavy and getting hard for choosing clothes, i began to diet. at first im on-off diet. so my weight is like a yoyo.. its so hard to achieve 99kg. at that time im very frustrated with my diet. in two years i tried jog at least once a week. but still no improvement (because of mcd, kfc, pizza n watsoever i consume.. cannot tahan la) after 2 years on-off diet, i only achieve 10kg of reduction which is 105kg.

i become more frustrated (because im not the person that can go on with slow diet. like ppl said eat normal, and have a healthy lifestyle should be enuff). im the type of person if-im-not-eating, i-can-last-for-the-whole-day. but when i started to eat, everything i wanna consume.

so, during the fasting month i took the chance which i think it's the month which suite with my behavior.
1) i only drank alot of water during sahur (meal consume in the morning b4 fasting)
2) i jog everyday 30 minutes before breaking fast.
3) i took laksa/bihun sup only during breaking fast.
4) if still hungry i took a bowl of oat during night.

and walla losing 13kg within a month. thumbup.gif

P/S: i was so determined to looks good during raya. thats y this time can tahan..  biggrin.gif
*
wow..good weight reduction. but somehow i see not a very good way to do in puasa

1) u drink only during sahur - u should at least eat dates and drink so u can get enough energy. remember of what our prophet said in hadis.

2) actually i avoid do cardio before breaking fast. for your case, u not take any meal during sahur. ur body not get enough energy and might drain your muscle. try to do exercise 2 hours after u breaking fast.

cardio just burn calories during u do the exercise and a few hours after that. try do weightlift. u can burn more calories in 2 days.

3) laksa/bihun kinda similar to rice though. its better u get balance diet in ur meal. u need veggies, meat/fish/egg and fruit

this is only my opinion. remember of good and healthy diet. u dont want to starve.
gud luck.

too ambitious? urm. nope. its a good motivation for u. keep it in your mind.

u can eat that oily or sweety, but in a very small portion. just to taste it. if u can avoid, then its better.

drink more water, green tea, fruit too.

Hi there,

Start your cardio to lose all the fat first, like running on treatmill, join those cardio class such as body combat, Ritmo Zum, cycling before you move into weight training. 20kg in 2-3 month is bad for your health, 20kg in 2 or 3 year will do you good. If you lose weight in such a short time it will bounce back even worst...And also you have to control your food intake. Healthy breakfirst, light lunch and no dinner (if you can)......

biggrin.gif
*
i think u wrong, he can starts weight training and cardio directly.
no need to do cardio before weight training. in fact weight training can increase his metabolism well.

I'm once doing this. Eating only 4 pieces of gardenia bread per day. 2 in the morning and 2 at night. Eat rice only at Saturday lunch hour. every weekend jogs at taman. But that was 2 years ago, when I'm still study at seberang perai polytechnic. I've do this about 2 months and my weight drops from 110kg to 95kg and my waist size drop from 44" to 36". But somehow after that got some personal problems, my mindset lari and start eating like hell again till today...
*
u shouldnt only take 4 pieces of bread every day. ur body need balance diet. eat more veggies or fruits, drink more plain water.

what kind of bread u ate before? is it white or wholemeal? ur body still need protein and all vitamins, not forget calcium. its better to lose weight slowly while u have balance diet rather than rapid drop weight because of starve.

u need to read more and understand.
gud luck and never give up.

Hmm......i having problem to choosing the suitable diet because i am very selective in choosing food

Here are some food that i eat.....

-------
Meat
-------
Chicken  = as long there is no gravy, expt chicken kurma, or ayam tandoori, kfc chicken
Fish = big fish, like dorry or tuna....small fish that got many bone dont eat, even fish also i eat plain fish dont like put sauce or gravy

-------
Fruit
-------
Orange, guava, apple, watermelon, mango, grape, dates
-----------
Vegetable
-----------
green salad, corn, carrot

------
Other
------
Hawaian pizza, fun fries, potato wedges, roti canai, roti naan, bread, any form of rice, yoghurt, allergy to milk n egg. ice cream, soto ayam, raisin.......

# other thing that i dont mention, means i dont eat

So howlar....with the limited choice of food, sometimes i have no idea what to eat....when i get boring eating same food, i tend to spend myself at fast food restaurant....so basically im not that strong eater, but since that i spend many time eating fast food , i get fatter...n when im trying to diet, there is only small choice n i tend to get boring easily with my food
*
-------
Meat
-------
Chicken =chicken kurma, kfc chicken - not ok
Fish = ok

-------
Fruit
-------
Orange, guava, apple, watermelon, mango, grape, dates - ok
-----------
Vegetable
-----------
green salad, corn, carrot - ok

------
Other
------
Hawaian pizza, fun fries, roti canai, roti naan, any form of rice, allergy to milk n egg. ice cream, soto ayam, - not ok

u kinda choosy person. i think u need to eat more veggies and fruit u like. what kind of milk u allery? can u drink soy milk? u can try capati instead of roti canai.

how about u try to be choosy person of fastfood. thats mean u choose to not eat fastfood.

just eat the yolk.
for lunch, u can try to do your own sandwich. furthermore u can save money and can count your calories intake easily. banana is good too.

abs workout. better do it not more than 10 minutes. u can see ur 6 packs abs because of fat around it. so u need to do exercise to burn it. do legs, back and chest workout. dont forget to do cardio.

hi.
im weigh in at 104KG.

will hit the gym next week.

currently my daily meal is like this.
morning-3 pills of lipo  black, 2 slices of gardenia wholemeal bread

lunch-3 pills of lipo 6 black,3 in 1 oat+3 spoon own instant oat(red packaging one)

tea time-3 in 1 oat+3 spoon own instant oat(red packaging one)

dinner- 2 slices of gardenia wholemeal bread

and i drink a lot of plain water.
around 3 liters a day..

are my meal healthy?
any recoomendations that i can i added into my meal??
*
not healthy.
3 in 1 oat has a lot of sugar. u depends to much on pill.

morning - u only take bread? how about protein? other vitamin? add banana/fruits in your meal. eggs/milk too.

lunch - definitely not enough. u can take sandwich and fruits. veggies will make u full. so take salad.

tea time - oat is good but try to avoid 3 in 1 oat.

dinner - u can have fish/chicken/meat. but not fried. cook it with steam or grill, not forget veggies/fruit.

3 litres water is good. u can try add olive oil, soy milk, skimmed milk, honey in your diet.
and work hard in gym. thumbup.gif

gud luck

QUOTE(soul2soul @ Oct 4 2010, 06:32 AM)
Hi all,

I need some practical advice on diet. My BMI is always at the healthy range (19 -23 for asians) but due to family history of diabetes, I try to make it at the lower range 20.

Whenever I try to lose a bit of weight, say from 68kg to 65kg for 176cm height , I find myself looking a bit 'gaunt' and unhealthy, with friends asking question "are you sick?". Because of this, I regain my weight to about 68kg.

However, this 3kg weight gain always come with "tummy". Here is my quandary, if I eat , I look ok but I got a bit of tummy . If I don't eat, then I look sickly.

I need some advice here on proper diet, I don't cook and I eat out 90% of the time.

Advice

1. What should I eat for lunch ? (got many shops nearby serving all sorts of food, but mostly I go for vegetarian diet which does not look very healthy because very oily).

2. What should I take for dinner?

3. Do I need to go for some weight lifting?

4. How to get rid of the tummy and not looking "thin and sick" at the same time?
Here is my daily meal;

Breakfast - sometimes skip, sometimes only 2 piece of bread laced with Jam

Lunch - vegetarian diet (brown rice with 2 green vege and 1 curry based )

Dinner - Nasi goreng, kailan goreng and ayam kunyit.
I notice my diet is very high in carbo , that probably explains my tummy that seems never to go away. I don't really like to take meat but ok with eggs/milk.

What should I eat? ANy suggestion? I eat 100% outside, not convenient for me to cook.
*
its difficult for u if u always eat outside, malaysian food that sell outside usually oily food and very high in bad fat.

so i suggest this for u

1. What should I eat for lunch ? - buy a sandwich with wholemeal bread. u can buy grill chicken/ fish.

2. What should I take for dinner? - fish/egg, veggies and fruit

3. Do I need to go for some weight lifting? - depends on u, but i suggest u to do it cos it will increase ur metabolism.

4. How to get rid of the tummy and not looking "thin and sick" at the same time?
Here is my daily meal;

Breakfast - never ever skip breakfast. it it the most important meal in your day. take egg/oat/milk and fruit into your breakfast meal.

Lunch - vegetarian diet (brown rice with 2 green vege and 1 curry based ) - curry is not good for u. try to avoid it.

Dinner - fried meal is oily. u can eat fish and egg to replace meat.

Guys, what's the best exercise to lost fat on tummy, side of tummy(waist i think), and chest. An exercise for each is good enough smile.gif

to lose fat on tummy, love handle and chest, u need to lose fat for all body parts. as far as i know, there is no exercise to burn particular area. all u need to do is full body exercise.

its similar if u play badminton and football. u will run fast and slow during u play. u will burn more calories instead of u run in same pace in certain duration time.

try to run fast for 30 sec, then walk for 30 sec, then run again for 30 sec. keep repeat it for 20 minutes.

but my advise, do the weightlift exercise and cardio/interval training

u can try rowing for a few minutes in gym. this is option for your cardio exercise. 20-30 minutes is enough.

early morning - weight training.. dumbell (5kg) - 8x3 rep per hand..

what kind of exercise u do? bicep curl? better u do major muscle training. back row or chest prest. its burn more calories.

its seem u lost weight easily and also gain easily.

buy.. sausage also.. well, i just watch the carb intake.. need to make sure my daily not over 20g of carb..

the normal bicep i think.. back row? chest prest?? need to google that..

yup.. i do lost easily due to this diet i think.. gain not that much.. since i ate a lot.. but when normal day eat (before diet).. 1 year only gain 2 kg.. since normal eat a plate a meal.. not so many.. when my weight reach 100kg, i try to train myself not to eat so much..

the best thing bout this atkins diet, no need to feel hunger.. i can eat as many as a whole chicken.. when i feel hungry, i just drank up 700ml plain water, then i'll full..
*
burger and sausage that u buy, its a big no for u to get healthy diet. sausage/burger is a processed food that contain a lot of chemical including salt and fat.

it is better u eat grill meat/fish/egg/milk to get protein.
if u do bicep curl, i suggest u to do squat and push up. it is way better than u doing curl.

better take small portion at frequent time like 5-6 times a day. then your body can burn calories. i think u really consider about carb only, but u dont take notice about others like protein, chemical added, fat and vitamin that u need.

thanks for all your comment..

we'll see the result end of this month.. my target is 106kg --- > 100kg.. thats 6kg in 3 week time.. hopefully i get that figure..

haha shiok sendiri ka.. ok.. i suppose i should start hard is it? well, for a big fatso like me, doing an extreme starting will make me stop the next day.. so i'm slowly picking pace.. last week max 4 round, this week already up to 7 round.. probably next week wanna do 10 round.. and now i cant slightly jog @ 1/2 or 3/4 round of the lake..

i dont wanna straight away jog 3 round then my heart will feel like wanna explode, then next day i cannot wake up because too tired..

those thing did happen to me before this.. cause advice from friend also.. he said must jog cannot walk only, which i cant.. if i jog more then 1 round, end up tommorrow i get muscle cramp or worse i cant even stand up..

but i try my best to add more round and faster the lap time as mention by fellow forumer..
*
its ok dude. as long there is positive progress, it already good for u. but try not to do only bicep curl. it wont help so much. squat can be done even if u r a big guy.

u try your best, good luck.

QUOTE(FenomX @ Oct 10 2010, 11:36 PM)
My suggestion:

take your breakfast at 6-7 a.m as that's the time when your digestion work the most, take some light foods with very low carbo, instead try to get some caffeine. The reason why is because we don't need carbo at the early morning since you don't really work hard during that time. You need to focus more instead so take some caffeine or a little bit of sugar will do.

Suggestion for breakfast:
1. Salad, fruits or bread. (best to take with oat bread)
2. Coffee or Milo.

now we move to lunch, during afternoon, that's the time when we need more energy as due to daily works. Working, walking etc etc. This is the time you need more carbo to support your body or to boost your energy yet the intake must be carefully done. This is also another well preparation for your workouts (gym, or sports activities) as carbo will only be digested and transformed to energy after 1 to 2 hours intake.

Suggestion for lunch:
1. Small portion of rice (try not to eat noodle as they are oily)
2. Fiber foods.(so you will feel full)
3. Take juice without sugar instead of plan water. (especially orange or green apple, they are very good for digestion and nutritious as they consist of good acidic ingredients)

dinner when it's night time and resting time. We don't eat that much during this time as we don't really move our body thus burning of the calories are lower unless opposite.

Suggestion for dinner:
1. Fiber loads, fruits, vegetables.
2. plain water.

Tips:
be disciplined! and one more thing, do not think eating vegetarian foods are good and can diet. This is due to the foods other than the vegetables, all of them are fried and contains a lot of flour and of course, the rice too. lastly, hit the gym and do workout thus metabolism rate become higher means fats burning even faster. Good luck!
*
firstly, are you really know what you talking?

we need to eat good breakfast because our energy comes from breakfast meal. and u suggest to take caffein instead of milk/plain water or juice. and no protein for breakfast?

lunch - also no protein? how you want to repair or build your muscle? and no plain water? are you kidding?

we need at least 8 glasses per day.

dinner - again no protein.

this suggestion is lack of nutrien. we want well balance meal not some diet which starving u.
