QUOTE(omniknight86 @ Aug 8 2010, 12:27 AM) Hi all, i wanted to buy some original game CD but i am not sure which are the best location to shop for it. fearing that some shop might not be honest....anyone here had experience and probably want to share it here? Please do share it here especially in Klang Valley areas...thank you I've purchased from TSB ( http://www.tsb.com.my) a few times with no issue. I'm a noob when it comes to Selangor's geography hence I can only provide you the address: The Software Boutique Sdn Bhd (561459H) 14M, Mezzanine Floor, Jalan SS2/67, 47300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor They do postage too so not much trouble to get it without being there in person. QUOTE(omniknight86 @ Aug 10 2010, 09:08 PM) i tried the mid valley shops...but the price is so expensive at rm150++ per games.... usually how much does it cost to buy a original cd? It depends on what games you're looking for. If the game is still new & has high demand, then yeah, then it might be a lil' pricey, such as StarCraft 2. If you're looking for cheaper game, perhaps you can try digital distribution such as Steam or GamersGate? They always hold promotion where your favourite games may go up to 75% discount or sometimes free for a certain period of time. This post has been edited by talexeh: Aug 10 2010, 11:00 PM

QUOTE(donchaka @ Aug 10 2010, 11:18 PM) i heard Popular Bookshop sells PC games too? Educational games, to be exact. That's what they labelled over here at my area. These are games like Diner Dash & those simple games with not much replayability value.

QUOTE(nightshade_nova @ Aug 11 2010, 03:36 AM) errr...no Ive seen popular sell decent old school games, like Prince of Persia Trilogy, FarCry, OrangeBox, Stalker, FEAR, Sonic, CoH gold edition...etc Their distributors are mainly ReplayGem and LoadUp, so whatever game they have, is what you get.No new games. Hmm... somehow your Popular & my Popular differ a lot.

QUOTE(omniknight86 @ Aug 12 2010, 02:35 AM) oh i see...but some old games like grant theft Auto selling at Rm160++ i think...is expensive...but anyhow how does the digital version work? mind to share a bit more here, thank you very much Just like what donchaka mentioned, the main idea about digital distribution is the fact that you don't get any physical box, CD / DVD or manual. The games are downloaded directly once you purchased them. A normal scenario of purchasing retail game is you go to the store, take a look if your desired game is available & if yes, you have to decide if the price is reasonable. If it's unavailable, you might need to go from 1 shop to another to search for it or wait for the shop owner to get back to you if he's kind enough to source it for you. If you order it by mail, you'll still have to wait a few days for it to reach you (in 1 piece if you're lucky) & sometimes the game box was dented due to rough handling by the post personnel. What about the scenario of your CD / DVD getting lost or scratched? Heartache, no? DD (digital distribution) is the total opposite of the above scenario. There are a few platforms (competitors) to choose from so that you can easily compare the games' price. Once decided, just create an account, buy the games you want with your credit card & you can start downloading the game right on the spot. Reformat your computer? Once done, just login again & redownload the game! Certain platforms like Steam has the function for you to backup your games so that you don't have to redownload them again if you need to reformat or change PC.
