I was being told that if we dig in a wide area, the creepers will randomly spawn? I tried to lit up each area to prevent darkness but still :S

been playing the multiplayer classic at the minecraft.net site. Theones zombie server is really fun and i waste hours on it without realising

Having people who can host dedicated Survival MP (SMP) server will make you play for hours^2.

Finally amassed enough iron ingots to lay out a two-line railway network that leads to my lumberyard and a newly discovered cave (which is pretty far away), complete with booster carts and elevated cobblestone bridges.

It cut down traveling time a lot, but there is still the matter of connecting my house to the central station (the former is perched atop a cliffside; the station further down, inside the mountain). I've dug out a starter tunnel from my greenhouse that will do just that.

Will also test out railway switches and minecart automation later. Youtube doesn't have a shortage of tutorial videos on how to set them up. I also think I have redstone circuits and logic gates figured out (tested them on a metal door in my house's basement); only problem is I have yet to find a practical use for it.

Right now digging man-made cave. Lazy explore and I got damn a lots of cobblestone. Time to build a better house than a dirt.

Bought Minecraft Alpha today, but didn't know how to dig anything. I kept punching stuff but most of the time they wouldn't break.

Turns out you have to hold the left mouse button and not just keep clicking on it.

I suggest you start watch these.

In fact, I'd watched several Minecraft videos before I bought the game, but it's easy to miss that they're holding down the left mouse button, not clicking it quickly.

clicking quickly = after an hour of mining your mouse will be dead. especially when ur gonna mine some obsidian
