Probe into assault of shop owner completed

KUALA LUMPUR: Investigations into the assault of a 64-year-old businessman by a well-known restaurateur’s son have been completed.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said the investigation papers would be handed to the Deputy Pu blic Prosecutor for further action.

Bleeding: Tai Sun after he was assaulted last Thursday.
“We have questioned all those involved and will wait for further instructions from the DPP,’’ he said but declined to elaborate.

The businessman’s 31-year-old son, Lim Say Keck, claimed he too was threatened when he went to his father’s aid during the incident last Thursday.

He alleged his father, Lim Tai Sun, was unhappy as the restaurant’s workers always placed their tables and chairs at the entrance of their shop lot that is also a store.

“We normally retrieve our goods from the store several times a week to replenish our stock in our kitchen and glassware shop nearby.

“On the day of the incident at about 8pm, my father went to retrieve some items but saw the entrance blocked by ta bles and chairs,’’ he said, adding that his father was assaulted by the restaurateur’s son when he asked the customers to move aside.

Say Keck said he and his younger brother who rushed to their fa ther’s aid were threatened by the restaurateur’s son with a chopper.

Not wanting any trouble, he said he took his father who suffered a broken nose and cut above his right eyebrow for treatment before lodging a report with the Sri Petaling police.

Say Keck added that his family does not mind the restaurant operator placing tables in front of their store but expected them to make way when they needed to take goods.

If the statements were true, the victim was polite enough during his request but still ended up bashed badly by the restaurant owner
