I just wish the SSD manufacturers will start ramping up capacity as opposed to performance. A 'slow' 200 MB/s read/write is good enough if it allows us to buy affordable 256 GB SSDs or even 512 GB SSDs.
*
I agree with this. something like 50% size of a harddrive and double the speed of harddrive is well enough for me.(for those that don't understand. it's something like double the speed of current normal)

Which is somewhere around 150MB/s read/write is good enough for me, and the size of 256 and 512 which everling mentioned.

Thou i don't really understand why they don't go for economical mid range users and only goes towards enthusiast and high end user aiming for top performance with high price for people to grab it for bragging rights = =.

Yes, it is very silly. The manufacturers are going all shiny over the new SandForce controllers, giving us only 60 GB and 120 GB SSDs. Well, just how is a 500 MB/s read/write on a 120 GB going to interest me when I'm running out of space on my nine month old 128 GB SSD on my laptop?

Kingston! If you give us a 256 GB option, without the scary aggressive TRIM, at about RM 1,280, I'll buy another SSD from you!  drool.gif  thumbup.gif

i pray on god they gives us a 256GB options. and i will definitely purchase one for my Desktop OS boot Main drive.(Plus Games) while all other movie, video, picture, and manga will be in HDD.

what is the best i can get? regardless of its OEM or not..

Mushkin, heard they're quite good. or save some money and play the wait game again, intel and micron release 20nm already, expect more SSD release.

hey guys,

what's the proper way to install an SSD into a desktop? What's all this thing about TRIM and AHCI? I plan to use it to run my OS and games

newbie here.

thanks!
*
The installing should be the same as installing a HDD.

For AHCI, it's just normal setting between AHCI or RAID, RAID is only available if you plan to RAID it (Requirement, 2 same HDD or more)

For TRIM Support, it is a feature which prolongs the peak performance without suffering performance degrade overtime.

do ppl buy ssd to install their windows at so they can boot faster

any other advantage?

Most people use it for Windows as well as applications such as Adobe Photoshop.

SSD Benefits alot in performance. so don't use SSD for data storage, because it's a watse. =X
