not too ideal for read speed.
but good write.

how much is the total writes/reads capacity for vertex 2 lifespan?  1000gb? 10k gb??
*
For reads, practically infinite reads within ten years since the data was last written. For example, if you bought the SSD this year and write the last piece of data 5 years from now, that last piece of data will be readable for ten years.

For writes, you get an estimate of 3,000 writes. An average person should see three years of writes without changing their usage habit. For a 120GB SSD, you will need to write more than 120GB everyday to kill their SSD prematurely. For a 160GB SSD, it's 160GB everyday. Are you up to the challenge? tongue.gif

Last I heard, OCZ had a hidden feature to support that as it was revealed to Anand weeks ago. No sign of it since then.

IIRC it is called OCZ Toolbox, the latest version. It is also used to update the firmware. Have you updated to 1.32?

So should I get OCZ vertex 2 or wait coz there will be a new model?

Added on April 24, 2011, 9:18 amJust noticed there is OCZ vertex 3. So what's the difference between Vertex 2 and Vertex 3?

Vertex 2 - SATA2
Vertex 3 - SATA3

and I believe there's an increase of read/write speed on vertex 3

Vertex 2 = Max Read: up to 285MB/s, Max Write: up to 275MB/s

Vertex 3 = Max Read: up to 550MB/s, Max Write: up to 500MB/s (based on 120GB model)

My intel ssd G2 160g having some write problem, the read is still ok at 262 but the write previously 110, now only getting 90, anyone here having this problem. Using for roughly around 5-6 months.

You need to wait much longer. It's about half the price every eighteen months. I had bought a 128GB SSD for about RM900 eleven months ago. That same model is now available for about RM600.

most likely the energy savings settings in the bios/win7 performance settings slowing it down.
disable all cpu energy saving options in the bios.
in win7 power management performance option set to high then in advanced set the hard disk to never power down/never sleep.
log off and idle overnight twice a week to keep performance up.

If you're fine with the fact that the warranty is short then yes,it's worth it.The write speeds may be slow but the read speeds are not to shabby even when compared to 2011 SSDs.The capacity is also large icon_rolleyes.gif

Reliability is a strong suit of Intel SSDs,I wouldn't worry too much about it.About the write speeds, these SSDs can only do around 100MB/s of sequential and random writes, definitely not blistering fast.
