hm...

what do the WRITE speed means? :S

40s ?

i heard its like 10 seconds wuu :S
*
10s from the moment you press the power button to a usable desktop is impossible.
The PC that i'm using,it needs around 10-15s to POST,then 25s to BOOT.
Write is when you install something or copy something over to the SSD.Windows installation time certainly improved, but not by much.IINM it went from 35m to 25m or so.

wow!
i dont know which SSD to get now , budget around 600.
any recommendation?

F90 possible is better than intel ssd?
*
The F90 has better writes if the data is compressible,so it is faster. However the Intel is 160GB,the F90 is 90GB,that's a lot of difference especially for a laptop.

but..rm730 for a harddisk..is pretty derp derp LOL.
*
then get the Intel X18M G2 160GB at RM450+-,it's not as fast as the C300 but not slow either icon_idea.gif

Not until it goes below RM300 with 256GB and more.I know this gonna take a while but RM1/GB isnt really far off. if you look into 2-3yrs time. smile.gif tongue.gif
*
get a cheap 40GB SSD that's not too slow,a good HDD and a Z68 board, your games will load as fast as a SSD if you use SSD caching. icon_idea.gif

What's your power plan?
Anyway, how do you use FF?Even on a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo/2GB RAM it doesn't lag [the PC has a SSD].

This is very helpful to me. Thank you for your input.

I do think I am gonna go for performance camp as my laptop have 2 slots of HDD - so I am planning on getting (fast) SSD with 500GB of Momentus XT as additional storage.

I hope I don't ask too much, but do you know any recommended SSD seller here? The friendlier the better smile.gif
*
A Momentus XT used for storage won't perform much differently compared to a 7200RPM 2.5" 500GB HDD since the cache is just 4GB.

Still, its (slightly) better than ordinary HDD and its just for storage.

My main SSD is the one that will be use to install programme etc.
*
My point is that at more than two times the price of a standard 7200RPM 500GB 2.5" HDD it isn't worth the cost.

Hmm will consider your wise advise too. Thanks bro!

And I saw we have several names for Intel SSD. Is the performance differ much from one to another? hmm.gif
*
In terms of performance;
Intel 510>Intel 320

can anyone help to give me some comment why my intel320 80gb giving me that low speed at all tests comparing with those benchmark review?
Im using hp dv6 with i7-2630,win7,8gb ram,ati radeon 6770m. I think the hardwares should enough to drive it to higher speed.sad.gif
user posted image

This is almost same as my previous test using my ol dell inspiron 1420 with just 4gb ram,T6xxx processor.
soooooo sad...
*
so the pic posted is not a benchmark you've done yourself?Did you enable AHCI in your BIOS before you installed Windows?

I got a Macbook Air lately running on SSD, the speed is really incredible.. Boot up time, program boot up etc.. everything felts so . great..

Now tempted to upgrade my desktops into SSD too lol..

I guess when buying a SSD

Reliability>Capacity>Speed

My MBA SSD runs at around 260mbps only (Online test result) yet it already really standout to make the differences.
*
Personally i'd put it this way Capacity>Speed=Reliability since the SSD will be used for OS and apps anyway, important data is still stored in HDDs.You definitely won't regret getting a SSD for your desktop
QUOTE(ALeUNe @ Aug 10 2011, 11:29 PM)
I think it's using the SATA2 SSD and thus deliver the speed of 260MBps.

The new Macbook AIR is running on a Sandy Bridge system.
SATA3 SSD should be supported.
It would be a beast if SATA3 SSD is used.
*
The form factor is different, the MBA uses mSATA SSDs that have connectors that look like miniPCIE so normal SATA3 SSDs such as the Intel 510 can't be used.Even the shape is different, such SSDs look like RAM DIMMs
