Hey guys,
Today i ran to Machines to check out problem that im facing with my Macbook pro (mid 2009 model).
The battery cant last for 2 hours (without adapter). I checked with them, the staff said that it was due to bluetooth and airport ON all the time. I was wondering, if I dont on both settings how I could connect to WLAN and use wireless mouse. The staff also proclaimed that, it is normal for my macbook model and even even i off everything, it can only last for 3 -4 hours max.
Other softwares on at the same time: bevy, hyperspace & ichat only.
Anyone facing the same situation? Mind sharing experience on this? Any thoughts?

QUOTE(xaw5126 @ Aug 30 2010, 05:20 PM) incorrect. according to Steve Jobs, wireless productivity (not games & not video / photo editing) ... you should get around 5 hours. do run some battery tests, and get the technician to do a battery test. Thats the main problem, I dont play games with Mac. Not into photoshop and etc. Btw which software to run on battery test? @ wintzen 4-5 hours on SC2? Nice. z.z

QUOTE(Ojimaru @ Aug 30 2010, 05:52 PM) See here for battery calibration. Has this problem persisted since original purchase? Or is it recent? Also, said staff member should be shot. With paint balls. At close range. Multiple times. Beginning was okey, can last for 4 hours? Now worst, 2 hours.

QUOTE(Howard Tan @ Aug 30 2010, 07:34 PM) Try downloading coconut battery. It tells you the life of your mac, you battery, its health and charge left. Very useful app. Take the information provided and go see the guys in Machine again. They should replace a new one for you if the battery is in fact not performing well enough. Sometimes the batteries just die on you. My previous 15" MBP's battery lasted for a year and a half and went all the way down to 75% health. I got it replaced for free but the same thing happened. Are you using the designated charger for your mac? Different models use different chargers with different power and using the wrong ones will decrease your battery life. This is result diagnose by c.battery. Info not quite accurate, age of my mac is just around 10months or less. Im sure nothing is wrong with the adapter where I use the same old adapter out of box. Thanks for your advise buddy.

QUOTE(Howard Tan @ Aug 30 2010, 08:14 PM) When you bought your mac, was the case sealed? Where did you buy it from. Now try downloading a widget called istats. Just type it in google "istats widget". Download it, install it and it shows all the important stats of your mac (It'll be on your dashboard (the F4 button)). See if your CPU is running above average during typical use (5-10%) and also check your battery health from there. According to coconut battery, your battery health is only 79% and frankly not acceptable for the age of your mac. Bring it back to the store, your mac should still be under warranty. Bring your receipt as well and show them the information from coconut battery and istats. Yeap, sealed. Brought it back from US. Downloaded and below is the result. I have the receipt and everything, actually I just claimed back this mac few days back due to harddisk failure. You mean that I'm eligible to claim warranty rite? Thanks for all your help.

@ dvdplayground You are supporting on Howard's statement? QUOTE(Howard Tan @ Aug 30 2010, 08:28 PM) Definitely claimable if it's within a year of purchase. Change the battery as soon as possible. At this stage it will only get worse. Ask them to do a diagnostic on the battery. Airport and bluetooth does nothing to the battery, I leave them both on without using my laptop (just keeping the screen awake) and it lasts more than 7 hours. My experience with my old model was bad. The remaining charge of the battery dropped from 70% staright to 14% after an hour of light usage. Got it man, will print everything and show the staffs there. Hopefully claimable. thanks for your help man, really appreciate it. Have a nice day.
