QUOTE(Eithanius @ Aug 18 2010, 02:49 AM) I'm curious... On what grounds did you opt for 2.53GHz i5 and neither 2.4GHz i5 nor 2.66GHz i7...? Yeah I actually had this dilemma when i was buying the MBP. I know the extra .13 GHz would have just a slight impact on boot time, file transfer time, video rendering time, etc., but for some reason i valued the 500GB HDD highly and thought that plus the slight superiority in processing power was worth the 600 bucks.I don't mean to offend you, the reason I asked was that a lot of ppl think of 2.53GHz spec stuck right in the middle of 2.4GHz and 2.66GHz - with most opt for basic 2.4GHz with plans to upgrade on every MBP revisions, and 2.66GHz for them to last few years. 2.53GHz model however to these ppl are a waste of money as it brings very minute performance superiority over 2.4GHz, having similar amount of RAM and VRAM. A 180GB difference in HDD capacity and a 0.13GHz processing speed do not even justify the additional RM 600 (retail price) over the 2.4GHz model. Having said that, I understand where you're coming from. And I'm now thinking if i made a mistake in getting this model. But what the heck, the money's been spent and I'm happy with it. So yeah. |

Is it normal for the bottom of a MBP to be hot even after using for just half an hour or so?

OK so this is kinda weird. Whenever I type on my MBP, and my arm touches the edge of the aluminum unibody, I get a tiny 'electrical shock'. Like a tingling sensation. A little painful lah. But very minimal. I was wondering if this happens to anyone else and is this normal?

QUOTE(baoz @ Aug 19 2010, 09:46 PM) There's something I need help with my Mac OS. I just use Expose. I barely ever touch the red and yellow icons on the top left. If I wanna close a window, just Cmd + W or Cmd + Q to quit. But I was wondering if everyone else here uses Expose on a regular basis. Or is there a better way to multitask?I was wondering if it's possible to do a "cover-flow" on all the running applications/windows that I have? Usually I just "x" or minimise them and they go to my dock, then a bit leceh to open one by one everytime. Was hoping I can just swipe the applications like cover flow or sth. |

QUOTE(harmeet15 @ Aug 21 2010, 12:36 PM) and i thought i was the only one.. What is zagg? I'm also experiencing the same thing. 'Electrical shock' thru the edges of my MBP. but after fixing the zagg it doesnt happen to me anymore.. my bro's mbp, zagg-less however still gives that static ting.. @Moutzu Why don't you try downloading and using Open Office as well as Google Docs first? That's what I'm doing. Getting by fine. No need to pay money for either iWork or MS Office. This post has been edited by doctorpopcorn: Aug 21 2010, 11:14 PM |

QUOTE(Moutzu @ Aug 22 2010, 11:27 AM) Hv thought about using Open Office but iWork has got some powerful features such as adding & editing photos in documents etc. Ultimately, it boils down to my needs and the pros and cons of investing in an iWork vis-a-vis the free Open Software Open Office. Light photo editing can be done in iPhoto. What for buy iWork for photo editing features? What other 'powerful features' are attracting you towards iWork?Thx for your suggestions. Will definitely give it serious thought and I might PM you for more info. |

QUOTE(nimrod323 @ Aug 22 2010, 01:08 PM) why are you discouraging him? there is a trial for iworks let him do his own comparison, IMHO there are many other pros using iworks compared to the free options let him discover it for himself, ultimately its his money that decides the purchase. Not discouraging him. Just saying that for photo editing, one can use other applications like iPhoto. But you're right. He should try out the 60-day trial and decide for himself. |
