the first 1-5% drop is normal. my battery is 1.75 years old and it's at 85% health, 323 cycles. i guess this is pretty low compared to others but it's good enough for me. still can last through a whole lecture. 1 hr lab with vmware + windows 7 running matlab also can tahan. i calibrate once every two weeks

juz use ur battery however it's convenient for you within ur warranty period. i think after 1 year still >90% is good enough dy
*
and i wonder why mine is only 20months but dropped till 77% with only 50 cycles?

no need to change if it's working fine. lemme guess, u didnt use ur battery a lot?
it would help if you can say what "various option" u have tried. yes u can reformat using an external HDD but u need the ISO anyway. how come u dont have the OSX dvd?
*
YA. I bought this mac for 1.5year d.
REally no need change?
I don't know if its working fine or not. IT just shut down when still have 15% battery.

I suggest you take out the battery and check if it's bulging. Lay it on flat surface and see if it sit still.
If it's bulging you should consider replacing it. The bulging battery will normally continue to bulge further. At a point it will damage/affect your trackpad assembly by pushing from the bottom up. So don't think "it work then no to change".  doh.gif

i've replaced one. scared it explode everything gone then i kantoi.

Is it normal for trackpad to lose the 'clicky' feel especially the down right side? I'm using Macbook Alu (late 2008) version.
*
i guess we have the same problem = battery expanding.

put your battery on a flat surface, then you can see if it is swollen or not.

Mine did swollen, got it changed for free although my Apple care had over.  tongue.gif
*
yeap, it got abit wobble. even the ruler isn't straight.

I had this problem as well, googled before and seems it is caused by heat
*
and trapped electrons that are not flowing.
all trapped inside.

Huh? What's got to do with trackpad?  hmm.gif
Hhmm... The thing is, I seldom use my trackpad. Does it qualify for warranty?
*
the battery expands inside = pushing the trackpad from below.
didn't you realease that under the trackpad is the battery already.?

advantage of bigger VRAM is mostly for textures only.

i kinda believe this 'theory'. GPU will go down one 'level' every 2.5 years. the 330M GT is considered a mid-level GPU, so in about 2.5 years it'll be a low-end GPU. still good enough to play the latest games but low settings lah
*
wah, then my 9400m is low-end ady right?

can you teach me how, I'm not very good at this.

I google and they said it's normal for macbook battery to run out quickly if (syncing and charging) ipad at the same time.
*
Just imagine one battery for 2 devices. It's providing power to your mac and also charging your Ipad. sure la due faster.

JUst like you will be tired faster when doing 2 work than doing 1 work. AM I right?

COrrect me if I'm wrong.

It's been a week now that I'm having problem with my MacBook.
Boot time takes as long as 30 minutes
Restarting the computer over and over again but it doesn't seem to help things.
Just need some help from Sifu here before I go and send my MacBook for service.
Really cannot do anything (now I'm wiring for my laptop to load-still at the white apple logo screen for the past 25 minutes
Correction: waiting for my laptop to load-still at the white apple logo screen for the past 25 minutes
Sorry for that, autocorrection from iPhone sad.gif
*
does it boot into ur desktop?
if it does not, just try to repair ur mac using the mac os x dvd.
i've face this problem b4
the people working in MACHINE said they need to reformat
i didn't listen to them cuz i've got too many projects inside NOT BACKUP-ED
and i went home to REPAIR myself using the dvd
tadaa, i can use my mac back.

Looks like it is pretty much a standard practice to quote maximum waiting time to push people to buy on the spot. I should have known better.

Anyway, I hope 2G is enough. I browser with like 10 window and 1 pages document and 1 pdf open already left me with barely 100Mb free RAM left. But with the fast hd, even with some disk swapping, it should be bearable. Without looking at the mem usage, everything is still snappy so far.

i do iMovie editing exporting a 11mins HD movie and youtubing and facebook and msn also no problem in a early 09' umb 2gb.
