hi...im a new owner of a mbp. had it for 3 days now. still learning the ropes. my sis bought it in australia using her govt grant. so i've got some questions.
what is the best way for the battery to last long. ie shut down or sleep. im just worried about leaving it plugged because of lightning. will usually unplug everything at night.

QUOTE(Ojimaru @ Nov 4 2010, 10:09 PM) If you're worried about lightning strikes and already unplug your electronics regularly, then the question is: why bother changing your habits? does it make a difference if i shut down or put it on sleep mode? and if its on sleep mode do i need to keep it plugged in? my dad recently bought a power regulator+surge protector. the modem, printer, desktop and my laptop is connected to it.

QUOTE(SEP910 @ Nov 5 2010, 07:52 AM) A stroke of lightning discharges up to several hundred million volts of electricity. Even though you using power regulator+surge protector it still can jump over to your power lines. So the safe is make your habit to unplug when you didn't used it. QUOTE(Ojimaru @ Nov 5 2010, 01:27 PM) The Macbook (Pro) boots up much faster if you set it to sleep, rather then shutting it down entirely. During Sleep mode, the power use is minimal, so much so that you don't need to keep it plugged in in order to use the laptop the next morning. thanks for the info ^^ i'll leave it on sleep mode and unplug it...but will shut down if not using for a long period of time which i think will not happen.
