Unfortunately yes, my first experience with the backlit keyb was with the 1st gen MBA. Didn't think much of it at first. Sounded like a novelty but grown to like it a lot. Now only can get lighted keyb with 15".

Use GIMP : GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.

It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.

Download : http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

Running GIMP on Mac OS X requires Apple's X11 environment. It is included on the "Optional Installs" package on the OS X install disk.

Yes you can plug in almost any 3rd party drive. I say almost because I've encountered one encrypted flash drive that only has a driver for windows... whooops.

Only problem is to be able to write on an NTFS formatted drive you need a third party add-on such as NTFS-3G or Tuxera. I don't recommend enabling  Snow Leopard's hidden ability to do so because I have personally experienced data corruption using it.

You can always call Applecare. You get 3 months free support with your Mac. I'm sure they can help you. A reinstall seems a bit drastic. I've only reinstalled OS X on my iMac once and it wasn't even really a reinstall. I was upgrading Leopard to Snow Leopard.

It'll be difficult for someone here to help you since we don't have much info to go on. There's about 103,000 things that can cause a MacBook Air to freeze.

Did you install any new software that might have caused it?

Can you startup in single-user mode?

It's important that you make sure it's not a hardware problem. If it is, get the Mac changed for a new one asap.
*
thanks soonwai for reply, starup in single-user mode also can't,that why i'm make decision to reinstall my mac os X using d usb flash drive provide by apple, after instal now OK, but all my file d not overwrite.

Try running a diskcheck mate. I've had a similar problem on my MBW. Ran a diskcheck via the OSX cd and managed to sort it out.
*
do mean running diskcheck thru DISK UTILITY is'it?

You'll have to boot-up from the USB stick and run Disk Utility from there, otherwise it cannot repair your boot drive. But since you reinstall already, no need lah.
*
@soonwai after i'm done verify disk permission thru disk utility, can i click at clear history on top right conner.
