i just got my new MacBook Pro, 13'3 for not more than 1 week.
I have some questions, about the battery. normally, i use the MacBook Pro at home for whole day. can i just connect the Magsafe power adapter together with the MacBook Pro for the whole day? will this damage the battery? do i need disconnect the adapter when the battery is fully charged?? Thank you |

What i do to attempt reducing battery degrading is I usually discharge the battery once a week till it runs on reserve/empty and full recharge it back again. I had my original battery replaced under warranty for loss of charge. The replacement battery Apple so kindly sent me had scratches on it. I did the full discharge recharge once a month, it now says "Service Battery" and my battery only has 8 cycles on it.

About this Mac > More info > Power
Ah my cycle count is actually 14 now. Odd, I haven't unplugged it from power for about 3 months. ![]() This post has been edited by skyther: Oct 24 2010, 05:19 PM |

@ skyther,
Apple don't really give out "new" parts for warranty claim. Most of the time you will get refurbished unit. But often it's good as new despite some cosmetic flaw. Your battery only hold 2300mAh, below 50% of original capacity, it is normal for Snow Leopard to warn you about it by stating "Service Battery". It's droppng too rapid, you should contact AppleCare.
