QUOTE(il0ve51 @ Oct 18 2010, 07:18 PM) by considering the buying guide and rumors i think mbp is going to refresh.... hopefully it is major update + iLife 11, cause i going to get that once it release~ any advice? hmm i dont think they'll upgrade so fast as the last time around it took them 10-11 months to upgrade, i would still consider the current notebooks are at their middle cycle or 3/4 cycle mark still, plus there is no rumour that indicates a shortage of portable macs, and with the event so near this is not happening.

QUOTE(nabielz @ Oct 23 2010, 06:59 AM) wait till next year. maybe i3/i5 will come out. P8600 quite slow la. sometime lag a bit even i use 7200rpm hd.
i doubt it's because of the processor, try to check your HDD and see if theres anything wrong there. Added on October 23, 2010, 3:37 pmQUOTE(Crusader @ Oct 23 2010, 10:45 AM) Ordered mine online this morning with the following specs: 13" 1.86GHZ 4GB 128SSD (USB Ethernet Adapter) at HKD10,866 = About RM4360 (Same configuration in Apple (Malaysia) is more than RM4700.. ) Stated : Ship within 3 business days (But deliver on 3/11/2010) ???
CTO model takes longer to depart from Shenzen. Added on October 23, 2010, 3:38 pmQUOTE(tzxsean @ Oct 23 2010, 01:37 PM) I really wonder 64GB flash drive is enough for use? in dilemma...thought of ordering 128GB MacBook Air..but my budget is tight is this your primary computer? if it is then, better get at least 128GB. Cause when you have a taste for movies every extra space would matter, you cant bring along an external HDD on the plane, it'll be messy IMHO of course. QUOTE(marcus20125 @ Oct 23 2010, 06:51 PM) macbook pro will meet your requirement since it come with faster processor, larger hardisk space and ram upgradeable up to 8gb. the advantage for macbook air over macbook pro will be 1kg lesser, faster storage access speed, facetime camerathat is not an advantage its just a rebranded isight camera that can be found on every mac since isight was introduced.

QUOTE(shanecross @ Oct 24 2010, 04:51 PM) What i do to attempt reducing battery degrading is I usually discharge the battery once a week till it runs on reserve/empty and full recharge it back again. Things are bound to be worn off anyway, all you could do is reduce the wear. you should discharge twice a month man, you are running down your battery cycle count.

QUOTE(honoreric @ Nov 8 2010, 06:15 PM) Anyone Having problem with their Macbook air order over the Apple store? I've placed my order since the 24th of Oct. and have yet to received my Macbook Air 13" CTo with 4gb yet. They are now delaying my order till the 15/11/2010, it's really frustrating. Is there a lack of stock? the moderator has set rules not to discuss the shipment dates, of course it'll take time since yours is custom made, its not like yours is a standard unit made en masse.

QUOTE(yinyum @ Nov 12 2010, 08:07 PM) Well, I guess the resellers such as Machines do provide configuration service for you when you buying the computers if I'm not mistaken. isnt that the same as ordering through the online store? they to have their own way of ordering through apple

QUOTE(yinyum @ Nov 12 2010, 11:44 PM) If can, I suggest you to buy from Apple Online Store, although resellers claimed they using Apple Authorized RAM for u, but u wouldn't know right? Better to have it installed at the Apple's side they -> Apple dont make rams, they to hire others like Micron(The biggest memory producer) to oem rams for them which is also the company responsible t supply to Kingston, Crucial and the rest. So i think either way you are save.

QUOTE(yinyum @ Nov 13 2010, 05:27 PM) Dude, of course I know Apple doesn't produce RAM I'm saying it's better to let Apple upgrade the config for you rather than letting resellers do it for u which u might not know they using things from what source to put it in your Mac. obviously, we were talking about macbook airs here, and heck, no salesperson is gonna open up your machine and install some undisclosed ram and charge you a fortune for it, my argument here is simple, all the rams are pretty much made by micron, so even if an official service personnel were to install it, it'l be a part that has been ordered from the Apple Service Exchange, err and last i checked, you can always ask them what RAM they use, typically it'll be KVRs,KTAs,Crucial or Mushkins which share the same chips made by Micron who makes the oem rams called Hynix which can be found inside every mac, ask and ye shall receive. And obviously my explanation to you or the message of it was simple, apple's oem ram are nothing special compared to the third parties that may offer you lower latency chips i.e. KTAs? and if you were in applebyte long enough i have pretty much harped on the benefits of apple online store since its inception and also the benefits of getting your ram outside = cheaper then the CTO option on the online store. QUOTE(nabielz @ Nov 14 2010, 08:05 AM) coz mac can boot dual os. 2 in 1. yep we knew this from 10.4 Tiger, the point he is trying to make is, just use it as it is, unless you need some spftware that really is not available on the mac then by all means triple boot if you must.

QUOTE(chriscym @ Nov 18 2010, 10:50 AM) A while more means this month? Or next month? It seems the product cycle for MacBook is on November nah not a chance, early next year, there isnt a tentative date for launches, Sandy Bridge processors are gonna be launched early next year so new macs would be made slightly after that. Just follow the intel processor road map and you'll have a rough idea.
