I had the same blardy problem too last time when i rented a house, when i wanted to move out, the owner wants me to pay this and that... worst is the indah water clause was not stated in the contract when i first signed. So prior to that, arguments and dissatisfaction occurred. Then because i dun wanna get things becomes more complicated, i paid it, of cuz with frustration and dissatisfaction. mad.gif

In my experience renting either an apartment or house thru these years, this was the first case i got where i need to pay for the Indah Water, when its suppose to be paid by owner... I have rented house then to apartment then to house, i have never asked to pay indah water...

So i oso really wan to know the answer... actually who should pay Indah Water??

Indah water is considered as utility bill, same as electricity and water, thus borne by tenant.

Indah water deals with waste water treatment. It is a question on who shits. Alam Flora deals with refuse collection. They dont treat you shit tha comes out as waste water.

it's a very grey zone question. it all depends on landlord and tenants negotiation prior to occupation of the property. very important get it clear in tenancy agreement. just like stating whether tenant will pay for utilities or landlord will cover utilities. but in denon's case, it might be too late. so lets see this as a lesson, get it clear in tenancy agreement for the next rental.

It is a standard practise that tenant pays for utility. Back in the 50s when the landlord pays for utilities there is water and electricity ration. Water suddenly get cut when you are in the midst of a bath. biggrin.gif

Is Indah Water considered utility bill? If the house is not occupied, Indah Water bill still needs to be paid right? So if that's true, it should be considered like Cukai Tanah and Cukai Pintu, so should be paid by the owner.. that's based on my understanding.

Just check with my lawyer. Who should pay? It depends on terms in the tenancy agreement. Nowadays the tenancy agreement stipulate the condition that tenant to pay.

Its not difficult as some mentioned about utilities. Yes tenant have to be responsible about it. Just as what the owners have to do when its vacant. Owners still pay the minimum water charge unless its terminated. Same goes to TNB and Indah Water. Years ago Indah Water charges are included in water bill. That was really long ago. So very simple, when they privatise the service, tenant have to accept that they have to pay for it.

After so many years, i suddenly received a bill from Indah Water. I am staying in apartment and i have 2 questions i hope someone can tell me:-

1. SHouldn't the bill be paid by the apartment's management under maintenance fee?
2. How come they are only sending the silly bill to me now?

tenant pangsai, landlord bayar?

i think landlord can factor in the indah water bill into the monthly rents as the charge is fix unlike the water bill and electricity bill.

Tats the prob and arguement here. Some tenants take thgs for granted. I even heard my fren's tenant argue tat, he pangsai onot, renting onot, landlord stil hav to bear it cos if he chao, nothin landlord can do. So try to avoid tis tyoe of tenants. the best part is put all tis clauses in TA.

This is true for Indah water. But in real practice, landlord will insist tenant to pay.
A grey area, agent must get one party to bear the cost
