Battle Royale, i watched both 1 & 2.. its good, but i dont like it much.. looked non sense, but very watch able cause it gave me something different.. the first one are cult ish..
so, what your best est JMovies?
like i said in previous threads, im rarely watched JMovies. im more into JMovies that sequenced to JDrama. or 'black comedy' type, extreme movies like Visitor Q and Ichi The Killer.
other than those famous one, i also watch those not too mainstream one. some are plain craps but i still watch them coz it give me something different from others lolz..
been out of the loop in jstuff for quite sometime liao maybe u should ask the others.
well just started my new season of drama, currently watching gold, nihonjin no shiranai nihongo which is quite funny, unobore deka, team batista 2 which i am still watching.
later gonna d/l mioka and a few others. So many drama to watch. I also agree that team iryu is the best medical drama but how about team batista?? I thought it was not bad also
just finished it last night. not so great, just slightly above average.
Hiroshi Abe played a detective solving murder case of one divorced mother. the story revolved around that simple murder case, but it became complicated when almost all witnesses told a simple lie for their own reasons.
early episodes are quiet boring and had a slow pace, but towards the end, the show became a bit interesting. its more of family /humanity drama than typical criminal /police drama.
Wah... v6 already... And I still stop right on the season of Code Blue... 1...
By the way, anyone watch the Kindaichi Kousuke - Akuma no Temari Uta (2009) ? Heard that Akuma no Temari Uta is the best among all the Kindaichi Kousuke series... I haven't watch it, so don't give spoiler
i will start watching it tonight. ive read a lot of positive reviews of this drama. they've said it had gone under a radar cause there's no big names on it.
so far, ive only watched 2 drama for Spring 2010. Moon Lovers and Shinzanmono, and both are quiet disappointing.
anybody watched this drama? looking forward to download it, but still undecided.
in my younger days, i used to like Nakama Yukie (especially Trick). but since Gokusen 2-3 (which i think mediocre), im losing interest to keep following her recent drama.

for me a quite interesting story with conspiracy twist & humor
Mother good one ah? i was browsing through recently finished jdrama to watch after i stop watching for quite a while.. it was either shinzanmono or sunao.. found shinzanmono boring, so now watching Sunao ni Narenakute, baru nak ke ep.2 might try mother later..
that untouchable good also? how u guys rate on scale of 10?
This post has been edited by notoriousfiq: Aug 12 2010, 02:33 AM
ill not say its a great drama.. certainly not the best i ever watch, but its up there in my top 10.
slow pace, yes. no big names, yes. low rating, yes.
but nevertheless, its very heart touching story. better than Shiroi Haru. overall i give 8.5/10.
that one particular scene in 1st episode are truly memorable and enough to made people cry..

Rena - a 7 y.o cute girl, used to physically (and sexually) abused by her mother and her mother's boyfriend. Nao - a mid 30s woman, Rena's teacher, who's actually not good with children and always looking for another job.
Nao found Rena in a black garbage plastic (!) after the child severely beaten by her mother. Nao bring her home.
Nao> are there any place u want to go? amusement park? zoo? shopping complex? Rena> i want to go to Sapporo. Nao> Sapporo? to where in Sapporo? why Sapporo? Rena> i want to be in baby mailbox.
(Rena showed Nao a piece of newspaper about baby mailbox. this is a care center where a 'parents' can put their unwanted baby to be taken care of)
Rena> i dont know whether i can fit in the box or not..

I try to watch Mother thou, I know it's a good drama but I found it too boring to continue. Stop at episode 2....
totally agree, its not for everyone.. too slow, but i can cope with that..
honestly, im not actually like sad and high emotional drama. i just 'accidentally' watch it because i was looking something different, trying different genre, theme. and i think lately i watched a lot of mediocre drama consecutively (Moon Lovers, Shinzanmono, Bloody Monday, Hotaru No Hikari, Dream Again, Mr Brain, etc)
Mother turned out to be very good and exceeded my expectation

Nikkan Sports Drama Grand Prix, The awards are held by Nikkan Sports and are based on the votes of magazine readers, who are primarily females in their twenties. The awards were held annually until 2007, they are now given quarterly at the end of each drama season.
Anybody watched Unubore Deka ? Its darn funny lols ... currently on 2nd episode ... the girls character is cute and pretty haha
in my waiting list.. but i will watching it later after the season complete (cause so many JDrama in my harddisk i havent watch yet, at least 10 set of it )
the lead character is so damn funny in My Boss My Hero.. thats the appeal factor for me..
finish Sunao.. not great, but good enuff.. i usually hate gay part of a show..but this one forgivable laa..
so whats next?
i saw the poster, read the synopsis, its quiet gay ish. maybe harsh from me to prejudge this series without watching the 1st episode. strongly believe this are not kind of my thing.
right now watching Untouchable. its quiet good, but not great. the story are refreshing, a bit twist here n there. but typical performance by Nakama Yukie. not looking funny anymore since age is catching her up, she's trying too hard to look cute with that kind of dialogue..
Popular manga “Paradise Kiss” to come out as a live action movie!
Have you ever read the manga “Paradise Kiss” by Yazawa Ai? ”Paradise Kiss” is a love story, but at the same time, focused on fashion. Although there’s already an anime version, fashion magazine “Zipper” announced that “Paradise Kiss” will also be released as a movie
Main character, Hayasaka Yukari, will be played by Kitagawa Keiko, and Mukai Osamu will play Jo-ji (George). As other cast members, Yamamoto Yusuke, Igarashi Shunji, Kaku Kento, Ohmasa Aya, and Kato Natsuki will also make appearances, but their roles have not been announced yet.
here no one watch "Natsu no Koi wa Nijiro ni kagayaku"? It's a pretty decent drama though, despite the uber low rating. But it's way better than *cough* Moon Lover imo.

its not serial drama, just one off SP drama /telemovie.. downloading still in progress. want to download it long time ago (released early this year), just worry no one subtitle it.. now the subtitle are available..
basically the storyline are quiet attractive, about deaf hostess.. and Kitagawa Keiko in there she's amazing beauty in kimono..
This post has been edited by dundermifflin: Aug 26 2010, 02:45 PM
i think its very good telemovie. the story about number Ginza's 1 hostess despite being deaf and communicate with her clients via written notes (hitsudan).
though its up against my sense of morality, its very moving and inspirational stuff. my brother (whom speak Japanese), we need to understand a bit of kanji and katakana to appreciate Rie's talent.
the 1st half are really good, but faded a bit in the next half (life in Ginza, she's suppose to have a more challenging life, but plain sailing instead. so unreal for me). but the closing are very well written indeed (the scene with her mother).
do u ever watch Kekkon Dekinai Otoko [2006]? not a new drama though..
my all time favourite humor JDrama.. i think already i watched it 4 or 5 times.. i will watch it again in future if i have spare time..
Abe Hiroshi was in his very top performance and his role as Kuwani Shinsuke is very iconic.. Natsukawa Yui did very well, and cute Kuninaka Ryoko in there..
a lot of sarcastic, cynical, punching lines.. a 'romantic' affair between old and matured people..
i rated this drama very highly and among my top 3 all time JDrama.. near perfect 9.5/10..

Kitagawa Keiko films “Paradise Kiss” at Kobe Fashion Show
Actress Kitagawa Keiko (24) made an appearance at the “17th Kobe Collection 2010 Autumn/Winter” fashion show. Her walk was filmed by 11 cameras and will be used in her upcoming movie, “Paradise Kiss”. The scene will be a part of the film’s climax when Kitagawa’s character has already become a well-known model.
Kitagawa’s thoughts on the walk and pictures of her looking gorgeous come after the jump.
Her appearance in the said fashion show had to be done without any rehearsal as well. Kitagawa was really happy that nothing went wrong during the filming, and further commented that she has never had such experience before. “I was so nervous. I’m wondering how this scene will come out”, Kitagawa said.
Kobe Fashion Show has always been a huge event with an audience of around 10,000 people. Kitagawa was the last to walk on the runway, and she said before the walk, “Since we can’t do any rehearsal, I’m quite worried, but I can’t wait to get out there and walk.” Her dress was made by the fictional brand “Filange by L’SET ROSE”, and she finished her walk without any slip-up. “It was over in a blink of an eye! The audience was great! I had a lot of fun!” the actress said right after her walk.
“Paradise Kiss” is based on a manga of the same title by Yazawa Ai, creator of “Nana” and “Neighborhood Story”. It’s a story of a typical high-school student named Hayasaka Yukari (Kitagawa), a very obedient and studious child. However, as she grew tired of her daily activities, she comes across a group of fashion design students with a clothing label known as “Paradise Kiss”. The group is in need of a new model to showcase their design for an upcoming fashion show and chose Yukari to do the modeling for them. Yukari was reluctant to join the group at first because of their strangeness, however, she eventually realizes that they are really nice people. The group’s dedication and passion for their work inspired Yukari to pursue her own dreams as well.
The cast for “Paradise Kiss” will include Mukai Osamu (male lead), Yamamoto Yusuke, Igarashi Shunji , Omasa Aya, Kaku Kento, and Kato Natsuki.
well.. it's Hifumi's first sub project iinm..so kira ok la.. ep3 released already rupanya.. haha.. thank u, will watch ep3 now. but I dont really see sport as its main theme tho..
there was talks in here a while ago, which JDrama Medical are the best.. someone say, its Iryu, which i still havent a chance to watch it..
in the last few days, i re -watched Jin [2009]. im still enjoy it even i still remember all the plots..
not a typical medical drama. an excellent brain surgeon accidentally slip through time back to 18th century (Edo era). overtake Alexander Flemming to produce the penicillin, surgical tools, perform impossible surgery with carpentering tools, reform medical practice etc.
its an excellent drama. i give 9/10 and anticipate the sequels (the ending didnt tied up well)
nice watch, i always love this game drama. its always surprise me, twists and turns are everywhere. (though the final outcome are always predictable, who else to win?). the explanation about the big boss of the game are quiet lame..
u need a very decent subtitle to understand the game rules. without a good understanding of the game, u cant enjoy the thrilling. interesting game, maybe i can re -create it..
there's a short scene after credit, dont miss it.
not such a great film, but its very unique. i love every minutes of it, and all the 2 seasons before that. 8.5/10
Honestly, I normally like to live and let live. But some posts here cross the line. Just focus on the JDramas please. Not the how and where you get them, etc etc. It would be nice to not see the word "download", for once.
i plan to watch it, but want to watch the previous season 1st. im notice they had different set casts. i wonder if the stories of the 2 seasons had huge relation.

Nope, din watch the 1st season. But this season is pretty good i think.

the general idea is great, but with poor execution. the 3 main cast are disappointing. it had 11 episodes, but was concluded in 10th. the finale just a review of all previous episodes and preparation to possible sequences.
5.5/10.

em, will try the best drama later..
Ayase Haruka is very annoying me in Hotaru no Hikari 2, but i thinks thats the indication she really filled that clueless /naive girl role perfectly.. Sakai Masato, he seem emotionless in that role. quite surprise to see he's winning it.
Just finished Atami no Sousakan. It was full of annoying lame acting, pathetic "jokes", unnecessary scenes, etc.. but it has the one thing I love the most.. the psychological aspect..
I wouldn't recommend this to everyone, because of the pathetic "jokes" shit etc, but if u like what I like; detective stuff and/or psychology, it's worth the watch, definitely..
Added on November 19, 2010, 9:29 pm oh, to add: I haven't figure out what really happen.. still mindfu*ked..

^from my short memory, from your own review, u always watched poor /average drama.. hehe.. whats' your favourite drama in recent year?
em, watched 1st episode of SPEC 2 [2010]. its good, but nothing spectacular.. Toda Erika is not the prettiest but really talented young actress and versatile
oh I am? haha..well.. it's just that recently I dont take from d-addicts as much.. thus, not having much choice.. also, I don't rely on viewers review/ratings, it's the genre of the show that I look for..
but hey, don't get me wrong, Atami no Sousakan is good if u are able to ignore the silly part of the show.. especially the ending.. almost like a hollywood grade mindf*ck..

ill try it later, i take your words. its rare to see mindf*** jdrama. already found a complete links with subtitle.
im 'stuck' with lot of latest jdrama, waiting for subtitles. most dissapointing is Gold [2010]. only 3 episode subbed
i think we just spoilt by choices. the ages of internet broadband, we can download various type of drama from various country. me myself, im not really hooked to JDrama compare 5-6 years ago. still love it, but too many other different choices.
lol.. I don't even know there was a glory days or dimmed days for jdrama..
yes, there was a time when jdrama is very popular and the thread is very active. a few years back when there were a successive season with many great jdrama popping out densha, 1lot, iryu, umizaru, tricks, gokusen that few season was damm nice
used to skip class and watch drama from day to night during my college days.

true, but other than x-files and stargate i rarely watch any other drama. korean, hk and china drama are kinda crap to me
^im versatile.. because i believe if the drama totally rely on story (not CGI thingy), where it comes from not really important. even our own local production.. im not favour of Korean, HK mainly because the length of the story.. but i believe there are many quality dramas over there.
IMO its a big mistake to label /stereotyping drama by its origin /hasty generalization..
Newest JDrama on my list..
SPEC <--subtitle stuck on EP01 Himitsu <--looked promising, subtitle group seem very dedicated.. remake of Himitsu [1999], The Secret [2007] Hollywood remake.. Freeter <--no subtitle yet..

Well, I probably don't really feel the up & down because I wasn't as up to date as u guys.. like, I don't join jdrama forums like d-addicts or jdorama. .. ..I know.. so even after those glory days, there's still many good jdrama I haven't watch, so I can still feel the awesomeness..kinda..
speaking of glory days, I never get to finish Shimokita Glory Days..lol
Added on November 30, 2010, 6:47 pmurmm, well for me, I have nothing against Korean, HK, etc drama.. I just like Japanese most, and I think it's enough for me, no need to go into other..

good stuff. the hero is brilliant, but i think he model himself too much after Jim Carey.
the 1-4 episodes are very predictable, but new faces of beauty of villain for every single episode make it up. 5-10 episodes are good, though the villain characters replace with much more old women. the finale are very good indeed.
lot of funny moments and dialogues. but TBH i didnt get it much because too much of pop /cultural references. love the Unubore routine dance (though admittedly seem very gay-ish and idiotic)
also watched Joker and Hotaru no Hikari 2 of same batch of drama, but Unubore Deka are clearly the better one..

haha its true jdrama glory days are over but jdrama is the first asian drama that really turn into fever/big phenomena here if you remember 1999/2000 like that when GTO was aired on TV3...its was an instant hit!.. then followed by Beach Boys..etc then come hana kimi, gokusen etc... not forgetting movie like Battle Royale but i guess now is korean fever...haha miss those days
Beachboys first for me, then GTO.. and hana kimi came looong after..
naah.. i dont get into this fever fever.. many people watch it doesnt affect me.. I watch stuff because I like it.. do u guys buy boxsets?
Couldn't agree more, I dig things that I like and I don't care if they are trendy or not . In fact my first jdramas addiction goes back to dubbing days (Oshin, Akantare and Moero Attack lol! Hahaha I'm old ).
And yes, I use to buy boxsets! Actually its one of the reason of my interest in jdramas, because back in my college days when downloading is unheard of (haha!) jdrama boxsets were relatively easy to get (and cheap too! ). Was kinda weekly routine to go down Jusco and buy jdrama series (and yes Jusco had d cheapest price among all lol). I didn't buy them anymore now, d main reason being the subtitles were terrible! Fansubs are way better alternatives, so yeah who can be blamed eh

i still remember watching JDrama boxset days, yes, the subtitle are terrible. poor translation and use BM of Standard 3. but still, im hooked.
last year, i bought 2 boxsets of old drama. very cheap, RM 5 each. but, after watched few minutes, i decided to download it for another copy. cant stand with the poor subtitle (and the quality of picture).
Takashi Sorimachi and Nanako Matsushima are my favourite stars back then. but Sorimachi these days is always involved in mediocre /not so successful drama /film, while Matsushima is just content with minor supporting role. they're real life couple.

Agree. I remember the urge to volunteer as a subtitle editor everytime I watch them . They are so pathetically made, even machine translations are way better haha. And wahh RM5 only! I guess my boxsets qualify to be given free then ahahaha .
Didn't know they're real life couple hohoho. I like Yutaka Takenouchi more than Sorimachi and for me they are still leagues ahead of nowadays' younger actors.
which are the latest most highly watched jdoramas from this year ?
i usually check on DramaWiki for rating, but recently theyre not providing anymore.. me myself used to using rating as an indicator before choosing a drama to watch. and also award winning list..
this ive found randomly using Google..

That's the thing.. We don't know for sure who knows what.. There's something fishy about the waitress, i guess the fortune teller know stuff too since Shinonome Mai told her, and she left for there. And there were some fishy scenes, like the 'lady-pimp' with her suicide attempts, history of the residents relationship, easter egg? red herring? umm.. they really adds up to the mystery rather than helping viewers to understand clearer.. And what's with the "2". Some say it's about 2 worlds.. Some say there are actually 2 culprit, Shinonome & someone, could even be the detective.. Some say the whole place is the purgatory world and there were all dead. Some say the smoke monster was just..oh wait that's a different show..
Love the mystery and the psychology, but like you, I'm also not that into the show that I want to dig more of it..
^overall its ok la, i reconsider my rating, ill give 6.5 out of 10.. gave me something different than typical JDrama.. the idea are great, just execution are so-so, the ending are rather poor.. having said that, if they make the SP to give us better conclusion, ill definitely watch it..

just finished Iryu season 3. The last few episodes were kinda rush this time esp the last triple operations. Overall enjoyed the show hope....just hope no more season 4 for this. Good show must put it to the end when it is good.
Now watching Jyou Ou 3 special edition. The battle to become top PRO begin again! Not so much fun as season 2 but still enjoyable although it's 18-rated and it's midnight show....
marathon iryu till epi 8 liao very nice i thought its goona be like gokusen which will recycle the same shit from previous season but the plot is quite mindblowing

but epi 2 and 3 onwards really pick up the mood and climax just right, with nice character development, esp kitto, ijyuin and kato, i start to feel the show doesnt revolve around asada entirely like in s1 and s2.. very refreshing as other character started to lead the show although still got elements of the stuff above until i watch epi 5 omfg, totally the most mind blowing ending ever in the iryu franchise !!! needless to say i cant help but watch another 3 epi until episode 8 and reluctantly drag myself to bed last night.. its around 2 something almost 3 lolz..
s3 is damm great, noguchi is as creepy as ever like the jonny depp of iryu
Does anyone still remember the 1st ever dorama you watch ?
If im not wrong my 1st was Lunch Queen at TV3... the 1st impression was JDorama has the best plot i ever seen comparing to others country... the very 1st reason why i love JDorama so much...

Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta Toda and Miura play two teachers, Natsumi Uemura and Shuji Kashiwagi, at the same high school who are set to get married in half a year. However, the night before the school year's opening ceremony, Shuji becomes involved with the young Hikari Saeki (played by Takei), without realizing that she will be a student in his class starting the next day. As Shuji struggles to help Hikari deal with the mental complex she is suffering from, he is also torn inside by his betrayal of Natsumi. Meanwhile, Hikari attempts to get closer to Natsumi, driven by feelings of jealousy and a desire to destroy the couple's relationship. Why? Its Toda Erika and Fuji TV's drama usually watch-able..
Control ~ Hanzai Shinri Sousa Segawa Rio, a quick-acting detective, gets transferred to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s Violent Crimes Division after she got shot during her previous case. She is made to work together with Nagumo Jun, a level-headed but eccentric psychology professor whoes skills at behavioral analysis are the key to tracking down the criminals. There's also Teranishi Kei, a shy young detective who's had a crush on Segawa since their days at the academy. Why? Its Fujiki Naohito and subtitle team seem dedicated..
Utsukushii Rinjin A sudden encounter between a gracefully attractive but mysterious woman, Saki (Nakama Yukie), and an ordinary housewife, Eriko (Dan Rei), who has a happy family, causes Eriko’s serene daily life to fall apart. Eriko’s husband, Shinji (Watabe Atsuro) becomes the target of Saki’s advances and finds himself caught between her and his wife. Why? I have crush on Nakama Yukie on my younger age, though she seem picking a poor drama these days..
Diplomat Kuroda Kousaku This sequel to the movie Amalfi brings back Kuroda Kousaku, a diplomat who works at the Japanese anti-terrorism office. His new partner is Ogaki Rikako, a somewhat unreliable detective who loves onsen. The setting includes San Francisco, Mexico and Japan and the story also reveals Kuroda's past. Why? Seem a serious /heavy drama (my type), and its on Fuji TV..
I'm ready to read preview any other new JDrama and welcoming other suggestion, because all above are just my random picking

my first drama was erm...can't remember, not sure was it Ice world or hero first...
Gold ep4 finally got subbed...!!!
I'm always curious whether those so called original jdramas you buy from speedy and artist gallery are really genuine or not. I borrowed code blue from my friend who bought from the shops, to my surprised the subs in that DVD are actually fansubs [hard sub summore]. Double checked and it does have that Genuine sticker stuck on the cover with the hologram .

All those DVD u found in Malaysia is Bootleg... They all just download fansub, produce the DVD, register a company, get ori sticker...
Anyone with model can just download anything from the net, register a company, have the content approve from Censorship Board and get rich...
So i never buy anything here at all... even if i dun support Japan Company... at least im not supporting local theif...
MISAKI no.1 is just a replica version of GOKUSEN. Boring.
LADY is good. Kitagawa Keiko
Gokusen 2 & 3 itself are super boring.. too many similar drama like that (a weird /casual approach from not-so-good /loser teacher and reform bunch of gangster /loser /pathetic students)
Kitagawa Keiko? tq for bringing this up. im not notice she have a new drama.. will give a try..
em, recently i noticed Ayase Haruka as new face /model of SKII (some beauty product) in TV advert. normally they choose HK /Korean /local celebrity.. not sure Malaysian viewer know her.. dont care much, but i adore her..

Amarufi: Megami No Hoshu [2009] aka Amalfi: Rewards of the Goddess - JMovie
very Hollywood -esque, cat and mouse drama. dont think i like it much. watch it just because the sequels drama, Gaikoukan Kuroda Kosaku aka Diplomat Kuroda Kousaku are airing in Japan now. but ill give a try the drama.
were set Italy, and using 75% Japanese language and the rest Italian /English. make sure you get a proper subtitle.
kokuhaku is definitely a must-watch!! the pacing is good (it does not drag), the CGI looks great (esp the explosion scene at the end) and the acting by the cast is good too. too bad the movie didn't make it in the oscar's nomination list.
the jdramas this season are very average, but i'm watching the monday 9pm drama.
Damn, just came back to JDorama after like 2 years of no-watching any. Anyone willing to share their top 3 JDorama of 2010 so I can errr...get to watch some awesome one?

not many good drama lately.. JDrama are getting boring these days, shame to say cause im always a big fan..
my recommendations (2010), which i watched: -Mother : i think this is my favourite. but some might say its too slow, emotional.. thinking of Shiroi Haru (women version). humanity-family drama. -Liar Game 2 : if u like the 1st season, the 2nd are must watch for continuity. thriller drama. -Code Blue 2 : if u like the 1st season, the 2nd are must watch for continuity. medical drama. -Keizoku 2 :SPEC : im not complete it yet (waiting for sub). im not watch the 1st season, but i understood its stand alone season and unrelated to each other. police-crime drama. -GOLD : im not complete it yet (waiting for sub). sports-romantic-family drama.
mediocre /so-so list: -Unubore Deka :funny as hell at certain points, recyling story each episodes. police-crime-comedy drama. -Joker: Japanese Dexter. police-crime drama. -Atami No Sousakan: mind-baffling, police-crime drama. -Shinzanmono: police-crime-humanity drama. -Hotaru No Hikari 2 :too girlish for me.. romantic-comedy drama.
avoid-it-like-plague list: -Tsuki No Koibito :star studded, i love the casts, but awful drama.. romantic-corporate life drama.

@dundermifflin Awesome list, I actually watched Tsuki No Koibito since I got it in my PC after I posted in this thread(cast lures me in, especially Kimura Takuya and Lin Chi Ling). Sucky plot but the overall acting is good and music is probably the only awesome thing lolz.
I see a lot crime drama on the list o.0, year 2010 = year of police-crime?
I guess I will watch Liar Game first. Then maybe Mother cuz I got a soft spot on such type of drama, I remember like N years ago I watched a drama(Should be Japan's) about a lizard-humanoid mother that hate her own daughter(which inherit her lizard trait) or sort and I still remember the theme until now.

i think Liar Game 1&2 its the only JDrama in recent years that i can endure watch it back-to-back (marathon watch).. cause it contain a lot suspense /cliff hanger moments, on their own way /style.. quite a unique and very comic-esque drama (originally from manga).
i love the 1st season very much, but in the 2nd season, u can always predict /expect the plots /bluffs /twists.. still a good season though.. and make sure u watch the movie too (after the season 2)

Downloaded but haven't watch yet. Subs are out for shinzanmono SP. Just watched Trick Shinsaku SP. waiting for the sequel now . Liar Game S2 was very disappointing for me, especially after you read the Manga.
Hmm...my top 3 recommendations? Ogon no Buta, Shiroi Haru and Shinzanmono.
Anyway Keizoku : SPEC subs are already completed a while ago .
Taking a break from JDoramas now, watching korean Running Man .

Waiting for the subs to be completed first. Anyway I'll take the awards with a pinch of salt. All the awards are given based on number of votes from the public.

IMO, awards recognition (the question is, which award are the good one?) are one of better way to choose a good drama to watch.. view ratings are the other way. (my usual way to pick my choice)
its better than rely on 'hunch', synopsis, cast line up or other random viewer recommendations..
there's more or less 100 JDrama titles per year. hit n miss..
for those who already watched SPEC [2010], what is SPEC (stand for)?
ive already watched it half, will resume later. this series slightly remind me of movie Push [2009], bunch of people with supernatural abilities, but they exploit it in weird way.
Toda Erika is excellent, but she's seem weird sometimes..

What I'm stating that the awards are in fact based on viewer votes, and ratings aim not sure how they calculate it. That's why dramas with big stars will usually get it with ease.
Kami no Shizuku is an example, it got the best drama award, but the dramas was ended halfway because the ratings was so awfully bad (to be honest, it really deserves to be ended). Not to mention best actor, supporting actor and actress were all snapped by cast from that drama.
SPEC, not sure. Its just called SPEC. haha. Toda Erika is better at acting weird roles imho. Can't imagine her acting romantic dramas... She was even weirder in boss lol.
I'll wait for Freeter, Control and Lady to be fully subbed before I start marathoning again.
Btw, anyone here watches running man? And those Arashi TV shows (HnA etc.)

Jin 2, BOSS 2.. this is a really good stuff. i love Jin much, one of my Top 3 JDrama all time.. em, you means by 'next season', just in the next few weeks right? (JDrama had 4 seasons a year)
Yeah, I'll still let the drama accumulate more episodes first haha.
Sometimes could be very slow as the admins might be MIA. Just be patient. Took me 2 months before I got my ourhour membership
Cuz my drama marathon of Ryoumen Den just finished and really nice to watch now after 2 months rest now i seeking for new one...
any nice one?
my watch list for Winter 2011 >LADY~Saigo no Hanzai Profile~ >Diplomat Kuroda Kousaku >Utsukushii Rinjin >Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta >Control ~ Hanzai Shinri Sousa
only LADY~Saigo no Hanzai Profile~ and Diplomat Kuroda Kousaku seem really promising. the others are so-so, but still, ill continue to watching it all.. ive only watched the pilot episodes, the jury still out there..

do u guys watched Dragon Zakura [2005]? (Abe Hiroshi, Yamashita Tomohisa, Nagasawa Masami, Hasegawa Kyoko).. really good stuff, love it.. really want the sequels, but they never did..
today just found out they did a spin off of the drama last year. Angel Bank [2010], was aired Jan 2010. anybody watch it?
from the wikipage, i see only the incompetent English Teacher Mamako on that drama..

lol, i know u will show up its tat day of the year again every year we celebrate today as dorama day
SPEC [2010] just completed it yesterday. the first few episodes are so-so, but getting better and better.. the last 2 episodes are really good. it seem they'll make a sequel, i guess (i'll not really exciting if they make sequel) overall, its very nice series. Toda Erika joked about possible movie (after credits at the last episode)
Trick SP 2 [2010] less funny than previous SP/ movies/ seasons, but nevertheless the story are bit better this time than SP /movies. a dummy/ doll of the professor are very cute

do u ever watch Kekkon Dekinai Otoko [2006]? not a new drama though..
my all time favourite humor JDrama.. i think already i watched it 4 or 5 times.. i will watch it again in future if i have spare time..
KDO is freaking hilarious. Meant it with all my heart. hahaha.

Personally I think is not bad yo! Toda Erika
I see it as nice closure to the series. I couldn't accept any new sequel. It's getting too full.

How this movie ? nice ?
Tiger & Dragon could be said as a masterpiece of running jokes in Japanese motion pictures. If you're like me (been watching dramas since 1995), man, it does make you laughing out loud. The jokes is pointy and freaking funny.
Just finish watch (after so much struggle to download the drama) Golden Bowl (2002). Man, it was a good drama, people don't make that kind of drama anymore.
Also, finish downloading and watching Shinya Shokudo (2009) (Midnight Restaurant). A simple, warm hearted midnight drama about people and food. Really really nice.
If I must recommend good drama, i have lots but what I usually watch (and rerun after that) are:
1) Osen (2008) - food and comedy drama. Really delicious and really funny 2) Haken No Hinkaku (2007)- drama and comedy drama. Really funny but down to earth in term of issues with employment etc. 3) Iryu 1,2,3 - Medical drama. Although I must say that the formula is stretching thin enough for 3 seasons, it's still great to watch Iryu up until 3 seasons. However, I wish they could stop it all together.
lots more drama KimuTaku (big dan really) drama which are not totally sucks like Engine; totally awesome and heartwarming..moved me to tears, Change; awesome drama about politics, Karei Naru Ichizoku; great drama about love-hate relationship between father and son, One Million Stars Falling From The Sky; really really awesome, twisted drama which KimuTaku become villain, freaking awesome!!! and many more. Starting with Mr Brain, his drama become dull and not as interesting as before especially Tsuki No Koibito (Moon's Lover). Man, that drama sucks rectum!
I also heart Abe Hiroshi, he's an awesome actor. KDO was his best moment, hands down.

Not sure but I think it does, especially for the first few days. Even live parliament sitting broadcast was cancelled to broadcast the earthquake news.
this is good stuff, love it, im at 5th episode (aired completely in Japan). its thriller-drama.
im a big fan of Nakama Yukie, but she rarely have a good drama in recent years. this time she's on a bit different role, she is a mysterious beautiful new neighbour, an antagonist. suit her well.
i believe ive seen similar storyline (Hollywood movie i guess). not an issue for me since Hollywood themselves do it vice versa.. beautiful stranger coming into perfectly happy family, wreck it for some personal reason.
the aspect i loving most about this drama, how they setup and panning out the storyline. the 1st 10 minute are good enough to fascinate me. ending of every episode will leave me some questions and great anticipation for the next episode. a lot of twists (though many twists made it cliche)
im not overhyping it, but i think i miss a very good JDrama for more than a year now.. the last one ive really enjoyed it are Mother [2010].
Watching Trick (from the very beginning) now.. but I don't have the SPs.. ..help?
Also, Liar Game (also from beginning)..
I must advice to those whom concern, if you guys are watching Trick, don't watch Liar Game at the same time like I do.. The excitement of Trick will surely drop like hell.. Now I think I have to finish Liar Game, only then I can continue Trick. You have to finish your ice-cream first, then eat your nasi, right?
And I hate the fact that they repeat some tricks (like the envelope thing, card thing etc) in Trick season 2. Nasib baik, so far, the main trick (main story) quite good, can still make me continue watch it (but only after Liar Game ).
Also, Lunch no Joou (re-watching). I watch this again because I remember how effective and influential it was to me when I watched it for the first time on 8TV years ago. To the point where I actually tried to make an omurice myself. Tried.
walaueh.. didn't watch any anime/jdrama lately.. so many pending title to watch...
btw anyone watch Kurosagi the movie?
i watched it, not quite remember when. maybe couple of year ago.
nothing special about the movie. but still a decent watch, as good as the drama. stand alone storyline, no continuity or development about the villain Kurosaki chase after at the end of the drama series, nor romance story development with him and the girl next door (the girl only made brief appearance)
anyway, i just watched 1st ep of utsukushii rinjin and i kinda like nakama yukie's role here. she's breaking through from her yamaguchi-sensei persona, imho. still need to watch more episodes to comment on the drama though

Utsukushii Rinjin, love that drama.. Nakama Yukie is on top performance..
LADY~Saigo no Hanzai Profile~ [2011]
im on 4th episode.
this series is comparable to Mr Brain. experimental method /new department aid to catch criminal, top police officer didnt like it, scientist try to play detective etc.
a story about profiling and smart reasoning are cool, but i think they miscast the actors/ actresses. they had a beautiful faces (esp Kitagawa Keiko ), but IMO they are misfit here. only Hiraoka Yuta (as Shinbori Keisuke) looked OK. and the policeman is cool (Yusuke Santamaria as Tsuge Masaki )
the storyline are still OK overall, (i dont know proper english /malay word), but they (the CPS team) all looked poyo..

Boss was more like style over substance. Looking forward to Jin 2!
looking forward for both, especially JIN.
anyway, any medical personal here (and watched JIN)? are the medical aspect of the drama correct /realistic /credible? love to watch Jin Sensei improvise the modern medical technique /equipment and practice it in ancient years.
oh yes Jin is coming back for the 2nd season. in less than 2 weeks isit? they left a lot of things hanging in the previous season so i'm hoping that everything could be explained this time..
everything about this police-crime drama are plain and ordinary. i see pale comparison to Galileo. a beautiful cop combine with university professor (this drama, psychologist), and co-incidentally their style and faces are about a same to the Galileo duo. together, they solving not-so-complex homicide cases, predictable storyline. mediocre performance by supportive characters did not help the show.
Holy ~ BOSS 2 . One of my favourite , and this means more Erika Toda .
Just finished Spec II recently .
And not surprisingly after the poster and early preview , it seems that Erika Toda wont made it much into the show . After watching the first episode ,it's getting more obvious . Ayam sads .

last season JDrama (Jan-Mar 2011).. Utsukushii Rinjin [2011], superb acting (Nakama Yukie), great overall, really enjoyed it.. LADY Saigo no Hanzai Profile [2011], style over substance, meh.. CONTROL Hanzai Shinri Sousa [2011], too ordinary, meh..
will complete it later.. Gaikoukan Kuroda Kousaku [2011], so-so review.. School!! [2011], great review..
new JDrama (Apr-Jun 2011).. Jin 2 [2011], for continuity.. my most anticipate drama.. BOSS 2 [2011], for continuity.. Good Life Arigato,Papa. Sayonara [2011], i always follow Sorimachi.. Madonna Verde [2011]. look like 'woman' drama (surrogate pregnancy issue), but ill give a shot..
And not surprisingly after the poster and early preview , it seems that Erika Toda wont made it much into the show . After watching the first episode ,it's getting more obvious . Ayam sads .
i just watched the first episode of boss 2.. yeah, i agree that Toda Erika might have less screen time..
anyway,i'm still going to watch this drama because it looks promising enough(for now) and i kinda like the twist in the first episode...although it was cliche
@SnoWFisH, glad u found the gem. Osen is nice!! Love it!
The current drama i follow is JIN2 and BOSS2. JIN2 opening episode is superb!
Osen, really good? i havent watch yet, read it @dramawiki, its comedy-family drama..
are comparable to these? (family drama i really rated) >Karei naru Ichizoku >Hotman 1 & 2 >Mother >1 Litre Of Tears >Shiroi Haru but most of these are tragic-family drama, more or less..

Yah, Osen is a simple, light drama to watch. Very easy and entertaining.
Definitely much lighter than the ones you listed. This drama will make you laugh instead of cry.
Just watched BOSS 2 ep1. It's good. It's exactly what you'd expect (if not better) if you already know BOSS (1st season). So yeah, I'm disappointed too that Toda Erika might not be in it anymore, but come on.. this is BOSS.. definitely more than just Toda Erika. Not like losing Yuki or anything..
Started watching Love Generation..Old drama but still damn nice..lol
recap me.. um, this drama about a woman doctor (tall, 30+something) hoping to get marry.. a young bartender (inspire to be an actor) and a good looking male reporter, both trying to court her.. and a goodmate of the doctor is a very pretty stewardess..
one memorable scene for me are, the reporter walked in hospital hallway and kissed the doctor, without even know her.. WTF ..

Gold and SPEC on the waiting list .. i hope both drama give big impact to me like Mother..

Keiko was a b**** in Tsuki no koibito. If you are a fan of keiko, better off sticking to mop girl and lady.
Joker ah, i salute if u can watch this of a marathon. I switched to Misaki No.1 as my current marathon drama. Joker is just too heavy, and predictable after the first episode. Not even sure if what is Anne's role, i think she's suppose to be the comic relief but its definitely not working. Heck, Joker made Shinzanmono such a much more lighter drama to watch. Joker is a good drama, but make sure you got a good head free of headaches before you start watching .
Gold, mmm seems like the subbing group went on hiatus....again. Maybe we'll have an annual release .
Downloading Kuitan now. And waiting for ep36 of running man and next ep of HnA.
p/s: who have access to stormy_subs in livejournal? please pm me!
Nope..its a Kimutaku movie..So its about this ad man transferred to the sales dept and likes a girl something like that..The lead actress damn cute..lol

I also enjoy MOTHER..best family drama i watched last year.. The cute kid really attached with me..so adorable..the storyline very realistic..the acting also superb...love this drama so much..

Gold still in my waiting list for a looong time. i only waiting the sub.. stuck on 5th episode.. can anybody help me on this
Joker, i dont think u need to rush it.. episode-based drama, just take it slow..
SPEC, the ending are very debatable, i like it that aspect.. Toda Erika on excellent form.. overall its very good, but im not really enjoy it.
just finished Gaikoukan Kuroda Kousaku [2011]. i like the story. top level political/ international conspiracy. the Kuroda character is very cold (but cool sometimes ) . the female police officer, Ogaki, is very cute character. Lee Byung Hun in there as guest star. but in 4th-9th episode, there's very slow story development. the story can be wrap up in 6/7 episodes.
right now, im watching School !! [2011].. very good drama. Gokusen, GTO, Dragon Zakura, roll into one.. but this time involving elementary school student, more relevant issue to world of education. but, the leading character is just so-so only..

If I'm not watching Keizoku 1 is it ok just watching SPEC??
WOW got Lee Byung Hun at Gaikoukan Kuroda Kousaku..exciting to watch although he just like cameo but still need to watch lorr..but another slow pace drama shud i just skip to ep.4 just watching lee byung hun alone...hehehe
for school!! i agreed i also dun prefer the lead .. i always try my best to watch his drama..but most of it skip his part..i watched tobosha just because of Abe Hiroshi..

i watched Keizoku 2 without wathing the 1st one. i think its different set of casts, maybe a little relation between those 2 dramas, the team (solving unsolved cases). i dont think any problem to follow SPEC without watching Keizoku 1.
i dont think Lee Byung Hun did any impact on Gaikoukan Kuroda Kousaku [2011].. just a 'star present', not an important character, just to make it more 'international' drama. im more remember that beautiful princess, haha..

Its ok to watch Keizoku 2 without watching Keizoku 1. Other than the chief, the cast and storyline are totally different (Keizoku was a typical investigation drama based on logic, while Keizoku 2 leans towards "heroes").
Ok, I'm out of dramas to watch now. Tempted to start Boss 2, but there's only like 3 episodes released...meh...Sure potong stim halfway.
Dropped Kuitan and lunch queen. Both were nowhere near Osen and the storyline progressed so slooow. Oh well, couldn't fight Joker though.
Watched a J-Movie yesterday, where Ryo came from the past into the future, and became a pastry chief '

Say, nobody subbed Hagane no Onna S1 right?
Joker not that heavy maybe too predictable and the storyline just so -so..already followed until ep.6 sayangnya nk dropped..
Kuitan I fast forwarding the stories most of the time..
Lunch queen quiet OK bcos of the nasi goreng pattaya look very tempting..
I still waiting for Nagareboshi fan sub finish the subbing..
Boss 3 will be watching after SPEC...too much drama in waiting list..include K- Drama too..aih..like dun hv any social life..
start watching JIN 2 last night.. superb, enough said..
though historical part (war, shogun etc) are bit confusing.. i guess if im Japanese, ill appreciate more that aspect..
normally i marathon-watch JDrama, only wait after the show (and sub) complete first, but for this series i'll watch it every new episode available. no patient to wait.. coz its soo good..
this is just my random pick. might give a go if people say its good. the theme are familiar (obesity, self confidence, fat girl become beautiful girl, later..). reunion with Hayami Mokomichi Zettai Kareshi [2008]. i suspect this drama will be going to the same path of Hotaru no Hikari [2007] (naive girl, fell in love, lack of self confidence, comical scenes here and there, etc)
i like Aibu Saki.. though she have punch-able face on Buzzer Beat[2009] (very annoying character, but somehow i think she's out standing)..

^ Rebound reminds me of a HK movie of a similar theme, starring Sammi Cheng.
anyways, has anyone seen any of the following jdramas? need comments first before picking my next jdrama. - antique - karei naru ichizoku - taiyou to umi no kyoushitsu

Karei Naru Ichizoku, one of the best JDrama i ever watched. ill definitely put it in my all time Top 3.
but, its not everyone cup of tea. the drama are bit intense and slow, but i love every minute of it. the end ending are superb (and miserable). i might re-watch it in the future..

while karei is a great drama, i wouldnt rate it as my top 3 thou, juz my personal preference i feel that there are still alot of better drama around. however i feel tat most of kimura drama are quite good and anyone's top 10 would probably have at least one kimura's drama.
watching JIN.lol.i'm so slowpoke.still watching 1st season.
currently im on JIN S02 Ep06..
season 2 started very promising. but somehow on 4th-6th, im bit off and started to losing my interest. dont know where this show will be going to.
but few notable scenes /events to keep my interest..

last jdrama I watched is Shinzanmono. Average but I enjoyed Abe Hiroshi acting like I enjoyed all his previous drama..recently downloaded Juui Dolittle, Code Blue 2, Hotaru no Hikari 2 and Unubore Deka. Hmm, what's next interesting jdrama to download?
I just finished Liar Game.. and I remember really wanting to punch Nao-chan's (Toda Erika) face again and again.. really frustratingly stupid and gullible..and still shocked when betrayed and goes "are, nande.. sonna.." I know they want to portray this innocent, pure morality nilai murni shit, but..haihh..
Hi....any video rental shop got Japanese Drama Series for rent? (around KL, PJ, Klang area) ...and which channel in astro shows Japanese Drama Series? I saw one Korea tv channel in astro but how about Japanese one (not the NHK, NHK don't shows the JDolrama)

You go to their rental corner and see which dvd boxset they have available. I think it was about 30cents per disc, but that was 8 years ago when I was still studying in Uni in cyberjaya (that time the price of 1 dvd box set is around RM60-80, not cheap like now).
Now watching Gift which features KimuTaku as well, well the first scene of him is quite bloody .
watched the 1st episode last night. i think it started well. an enthusiastic reporter (Sorimachi) facing a divorce from his (seem) irresponsible wife and left him in with their 6 y.o son.
but at the last 10 min, i believe this just typical human-family JDrama, nothing special. probably will be go the same way of Kazoku [2006]. slow pace, few heart touching moments, son-father powerful love, the mother change her heart later, etc.
having said that, i'll watch it further since i've copy of all episodes in my hd already..

i already started watching Keizoku : SPEC.. WOW seriously thank for recommended me this drama..i've never expected this drama will be this funny..now i'm into sebumi kun and toma kun personality..how come sebumi kun the serious type person will always bring the paper bag with such a cute way...and also toma kun not annoying at all i'm surprise..i really like this team...the storyline some predictable and some need to be more deep analysis when guessing the criminal..but i really have fun watched this drama...
+ i love enjoy this song THE RICECOOKERS: NAMIno YUKUSAKI ...
Rating 4.5/5 (extra 0.5 because of sebumi kun)

The Korea channel in astro is showing Korea drama 24 hours a day 7 days a week. but i still don't know which channel in astro showing even 1 hours of Japanes drama a day.
I know there are lower cost (or discount) DVD box set, but those lower cost one are mostly very boring one or (old series) Nice one still cost RM50.

watched the finale few days ago. cant say its better or worse than the 1st. but i clearly prefer the 1st.
not much 'medical break -through' on 2nd season. much concentrate on history of politic and war, which i dont really understand.
the finale explain about the time slipping, and the explanation are total failure for me. still a decent finale. and they probably try to open possibilities of spin off /another seasons.

Anyone watch other Summer season dramas? Any good recommendation?
This summer has a lot of lad dramas which i skip them all lulz
i probably try Tempest. its Nakama Yukie, and its period drama.. probably a very good combination..
The story takes place during the reign of the Ryukyu Kingdom (19th Century). Nakama Yukie plays Mazuru, a young woman who wants to complete her studies despite her gender restrictions, so she takes advantage of the disappearance of her step brother and disguises herself as an Eunuch named Son Neion, and passes the exam to be a royal govenrment's official. This is her first time having to play both a male and female character. Her supporting cast includes Tanihara Shosuke as her lover and Takaoka Saki as her enemy.
i just finished watching freeter.. surprisingly good drama from nino after ryusei..
I'm watching this drama simply because of the high rating but after i started watched ep 1-4 it started make me anticipated for next episode make me addicted and curious to know what happen next..
The storyline closed to reality..all the actors portray their character with awesomeness..family members, neighbor, colleagues..mix well with each other..there is no issued with shadowing one of another.. one the best human drama that i've been watched throughout my 12 years involved with JDrama...
Recommended from me.. Rating 5/5

So Hana Kimi have a remake. I don't think a drama that new should have a remake. Hana Kimi was aired 2007, here we are only 4 years later, we have a remake. Remake something at least 7~8 years old..not something we still have a vivid memory of.
Already finish watching Akai Ito.. the story similar like last friends but with more lighter approach.. for Last friend i think the issued that they tried to convey more heavy and more conflict..
I finish this series only for 2 days..if we finish the series in shortest time there will be two assumption if the story really addicted or really boring..
For me it will be in the middle of boring and interesting..at certain episode it eager me to know what will happen in the next episode but at certain plot i just fast forward..sometime the pace of the story fast sometimes too slow ..luckily i can fast forward to escape the boring moment..
Overall i like the chemistry between actors..and the story capture my attention..and i can relate with them for certain issued..and i like the OST too "Ray by lego big morl" ..
currently considering to watch these 2 (currently airing) >Ouran High School Host Club >Don Quixote any quick reviews /comments?
im watching >Zenkai Girl >Tempest both are so-so..
Don Quixote is a really good comedy, find myself laughing out loud in almost every episode, and somehow it never gets old. Matsuda Shota really shines in his yakuza role in it. Highly recommended if you want a show with good laugh.
As for a more serious one, try out Soredemo Ikite Yuku and IS~Otoko Demo Onna Demo Nai Sei. Both of which are my favs this season. Zenkai Girl is definitely pretty good too, though a bit draggy towards the end.
For detective/suspense dramas - definitely recommend Zettai Reido and Team Batista 3.
You can head over to my review blog for a quick review on each of the shows I mention above and hopefully you'll find something that interests you. This season's not bad actually, I like it better than last.
Now, i'm watching GOOD LIFE...so far so good..i'm still feel wanting want to watch the next episode.. It loook like i'm still die hard fan girl of Sorimachi .. i still felt touch with his act..he skill of act still like before .. when he become dad or lover still i can feel the chemistry between him and the partner ... oh no I just love him so much...

few last episodes are draggy.
overall, not sapping much of my emotion. there's many sadder JDrama..

OK already finish watching GOOD LIFE.. Sappy drama ..full of tears when it coming to end... This drama like a wake up call for all daddy who working so hard and forgot to spare some time for their families.. I find it the storyline parallel with the title .. what actually a GOOD LIFE is..it different experience for different people.. Love is not about only giving or only to receive but it also an effort from both we give and take... I love the chemistry between dad and his son..Sorimachi definitely great actors no doubt..bias from my POV..but the son also done a good job..got stiff here and there but with support from Sorimachi the act still acceptable for me..
for autumn 2011.. i've a high hope for this 2 dramas..
Nankyoku Tairiku The story is about 11 members who were sent to the South Pole for the first time in February 1957 in a national project to explore Antartica. They were accompanied by a dogsled of 19 Sakhalin dogs. When they left for Japan a year later, they were forced to leave the dogs behind due to the bad weather. In January 1959, Kuramochi Takeshi and some others joined a third expedition to ascertain the fate of the dogs Taro and Jiro. Main Star: Kimura Takuya as Kuramochi Takeshi, Ayase Haruka as Takaoka Miyuki, Sakai Masato as Himura Haruhiko Airing Date: 2011-Oct-16
star studded, high budgeted, based on true historical story.. what could go wrong? but we know Kimura Takuya works lately always go south.. but still, i have a high hopes..
Kaseifu no Mita In the drama, Matsushima plays a mysterious housekeeper named Mita Akari, whose age is a secret and who is completely unsociable. However, she is perfect in her housework, and through her work she resolves hidden issues among the family members of the homes she is dispatched to. Despite her clients’ eventual wishes to keep her as a permanent housekeeper, she always moves on to the next job, where a fresh set of domestic problems await. Main Star:Matsushima Nanako as Mita Akari, Hasegawa Hiroki as Asuda Keiichi, Aibu Saki as Yuki Urara Airing Date: 2011-Oct-12
i always have soft spot to Matsushima Nanako. the first JDrama drama actress i ever admire. this probably woman-ish drama..

Hi, baru habis je habis tengok drama Freeter td. Satu human drama yang bagus. Banyak nilai2 murni yang ada. Penganggur2 kat Malaysia ni patut tengok drama ni. 4/5 aku bagi. Cuma agak bosan pada episod yg awal dan soundtrack agak kurang sket tp main theme best.
When watching Shinzanmono, I sometme feel its dragging, maybe long-winded, but it make sense, thats how the story is..it's not a one-off, standalone episodes. I wonder how its movie will do..

ive watched the series, but not the SP. the SP any good? involve a new case, or continuity to the series?
the series are so-so.. Hiroshi Abe is the only reason i watched it, if other actor, i dont think ill put any interest..
Just finished watching Soredemo, Ikite Yuku yesterday.. what I love about this drama about the message that they try to deliver to society the feeling of the victim family and also the perpetrator family. We as bystander always jumps into conclusion and blaming here and there without thinking the consequence to the families.. With all the actors and actresses i can connect with their character.. This was first time i watched Mitsushima Hikari acting and I like it very much..as Futaba the longing sisters that believe her brother not guilty.. how she developed the character with the darknest, happy , cute and saddy act i really enjoyed it..she make me remember about horikita maki a little bit on her acting.. Overall the flow of the story in the middle pace not so slow and not very fast..if it really slow to take it just fast forwarded but warning maybe some of the details u will be missed it...
I learn a lot from this drama and I will recommend it if you love watching human drama..if u like to watching idol drama..this not type of drama you will enjoy it.

Agreed but funny thing is, all I cared about in the drama is Mita (Nanako's character). BEcause I find the family problems really really ANNOYING. Like...I don't care if they never have their problems solved or how they'll end up to be. The father is really useless, has been since 1st episode, and worse of all, the eldest daughter too. I nearly gave up on the show, if not for Mita pulling me back. I think the high rating has to do with the fact that this is Nanako's first drama ever since she stopped acting to focus on her children few years ago.
But I can't wait for her next drama Lucky Seven, with Eita (Soredemo Ikite Yuku), MatsuJun (not a fan of him but well...) and Naka Riisa. Sounds like one of the highest anticipated drama.

agreed. Nanako made the drama very good.
u should try Utsukushii Rinjin.. im not saying both dramas are similar, but very strong performance by lead character (Nakama Yukie) single handedly made the drama great..
im not watched many Jdramas, compare to early 2000s. probably only 3 or 4 per drama season, so probably 12 this year. but this year 2011, i could say only Utsukushii Rinjin and Kaseifu no Mita deserved to be called very good Jdrama in my book..
i read Lucky Seven synopsis, sounded like Lady (Kitagawa Keiko)

I watched first 2-3 epis of Utsukushii Rinjin then I never continued...maybe I should though, Nakama Yukie I know is pretty good there with her antagonist role.
But for me, the one drama that stood out is Soredemo Ikite Yuku, brilliant performances by both Eita and Mitsushima Nanako. The drama won most of the major awards for the 70th Television Drama Awards, grabbing best actor, best drama, best screenplay. Too bad Mitsushima missed the best actress, really thought she deserved it. Another one would be JIN 2.

ooo i forgot about Jin 2..
the 2nd season perhaps equally good as the 1st one.. but the 2nd one explore more on Japanese history.. so im not really appreciate it..
Tempest also a good epic drama.. Nakama Yukie played a dual role, a beautiful palace concubine and an excellent male diplomat.
No i dont want to be like that.. i dont know what happen in the end (dont tell me!!), but i want to be what Seiji was in the earlier episode, searching, searching, searching ..
And i dont like the side show, Teppei hospitalized lah, mom bullied lah..
the main character (Mita) are OTT.. excellent acting but total non sense, weirdly which make this drama kicking. her doraemon /inspector gadget bag, haha.
the childs actor/es are outstanding. i love the younger brother, the smart one.
the father, Keiichi, looked too young. i love to punch his face, but lately i think it suit him well.
the aunt, Urara, is very annoying but she serving her purpose well..
poor scenes

when Mita try too kill Yui. for someone like her, who've a good agility and focus, killing teenager like Yui are too easy..
I'm still bewildered by the fact that this show gets 25% average rating~ with its final episode over 40%! The only drama in the last 12 years to do so, since Beautiful Life. I guess we should not underestimate the power of Matsushima Nanako. While I hate most of the characters, Mita was the only one I that kept me coming back every week to watch it.
Hi all im still new here, im donno lowyat got this thread, i will recommend you with all my list i had from 3 years ago, im still save in harddisk lol, love watching this drama, some have very good story line... any title about you can google it, thanks for this thread i have many drama to watching...

Anyone going to watch this year NHK Jidaigeki: Taira no Kiyomori?
Added on January 11, 2012, 3:45 amAfter watch Taira no Kiyomori 1st ep, think that this dorama is not bad. Good for everyone that interested to Japan history (especially 12th Century). Will continue to watch it every week!!

Any movie or drama for Hiroshi Abe? latest 1.. 2011 / 2012..
Hiroshi Abe stuff, ill try Shiawase no Kiiroi Hankachi, its not serial drama. its 2 hours drama (tatpansu).. aired last october.
im just finished Kaseifu no Mita. i thought it was superb, until
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Mita-san reveal her story in one long explanation (at dinner table). that scene are absolutely awesome and very unexpected
but after that the show are quite dull. the finale are just so-so.. and probably they'll make a sequel /prequel..
last night i start watching Nankyoku Tairiku.. another drama dubbed as the best in 2011. im sure the most expansive one. its superb. everything is awesome. but i doubt the rest 9 episodes can maintain my excitement..
A drama commemorating TBS's 60th anniversary, the story is about 11 members who were sent to the South Pole for the first time in February 1957 in a national project to explore Antartica. They were accompanied by a dogsled of 19 Sakhalin huskies. When they left for Japan a year later, they were forced to leave the dogs behind due to the bad weather. In January 1959, Kuramochi Takeshi and some others joined a third expedition to ascertain the fate of the dogs.
Anyone can recommend good dorama? Especially with Junichi Okada and Nagase Tomoya in it,
you can try Unubore Deka. the rating is not that good but beleive in me, it is a good drama it's funny, and also somehow very entertaining. plus, nakashima mika I never thought that she is very cute, very different from NANA

i think someone posted about this movie, a year ago.. manga turned to movie.
American-based company made it. its slightly better camera work, compare to typical Japanese movies.
a story about an inspired-genius fashion designer wannabe. met a beautiful high schooler (Keiko Kitagawa). and the beauty turned to glamorous catwalk model.
currently watching shinya shokudo season 2, after finished with the first season. highly recommended this one, plus its just 24mins per episode
I tried to watch Shinya Shokudo season 1... All the episode look decent..i like how they end the story with the explanation of the foods. Also I like Joe Odagiri as a cameo..he just seat there ..talking to himself but at the same time actually he giving them advice about life..Overall I can give vote 3 from 5..
Good to see people enjoying Bambino. Pasta never tasted so good eh
Bambino i believe i watched it years ago (during its airtime).. but only 2 or 3 episodes.. its about wannabe (pasta) chef right?
on the same season i also watched Hotelier (remake of Korean drama).. i think i like it both but im also incompleted it (busy of final project and job hunting)

Bambino has the same effect as Yakitate Japan last time. When I watched Yakitate Japan I ended up eating bread for a week
Strawberry Night - so far, quite good, I like the chemistry btw the characters and Yuko Takeuchi is a pleasure to watch as the tough detective. Some episodes/cases were pretty mediocre, but the rest are good.
Seinaru Kaibutsutachi - the plot/storyline itself is quite intriguing, deals with surrogate child, which is illegal in Japan. Just curious how it'll end.
Hungry! - Mukai Osamu and the rest are eye-candy and if that's not enough, there's French cuisine too! Not a good idea to watch when you're hungry though, so I always watch during dinner lol
Lucky Seven - I kinda anticipated this too much, coz the outcome isn't as good as I expected. Not much Eita anyway.
Dirty Mama! - Funny! Super cop mom and boy I pity Karina who acts as the rookie cop aka. babysitter but the baby is cute at least.
Bunshin - Just watched first episode. Intriguing and I love mysteries. Though not a fan of Masami's acting, it's quite fresh to see her act two different characters in this series. Can't wait to continue with 2nd episode tonight!

a private detective firm, led by Nanako. watched it solely because of Nanako, but shame she played insignificant role. too ordinary overall, will probably drop it after 2 episodes.
Saikou no Jinsei no Owarikata aka Ending Planner
a funeral manager (Yamashita Tomohisa) working together with a cute police detective, solving case surround funerals he deal.
another average drama. will probably drop it but i'll give a go for another episode.

Lucky seven was a letdown, like you, I watched solely for Nanako and Eita. Though I know Nanako will play a very small role, I never thought that Eita will disappear midway. They're wasting talents! The rest of the cast not enough to keep me engaged.
As for Saikou no jinsei, I dropped after watching 1st episode lol. Not my type of drama. I like serious themed series but somehow, the storyline not captivating enough, unlike Soredemo (now that was brilliant).

Saikou are quite OK for me but still not good enough for me to continue watching it, Lucky Seven are poor for me (maybe im expected Nanako to play an important role).. i think u can easily evaluate both dramas in one or two earliest episodes.
few years ago, i liked to complete DL it all (with subtitles), then watching it in one go.. but recently, generally the quality of JDrama are bit frustrating. so i'll watch the pilot and take it from there..
Finished watching Hotaru no Hikari 2 before. Got pretty decent ratings but somehow bored me to death. Took me few weeks to finish because only watch it in between times.
At the moment, watching Code Blue 2..now that's what we call a good drama.
I just watch Cheer Cheer Cheer! at Screen Red (from HyppTV). I like it very much!! After finish the movie, then only I know it is a movie in year 2008... Looks like I'm really outdated. Anyway, Yui is very beautiful/handsome!! Recommended to everyone if you still haven't watch.

i believe its pretty good. rare to see very good JDrama these days. i didnt watch much this season (winter 2012), only 4 titles. this is definitely the best.
probably i am bias because im a fan of Nagasawa Masami. but i recommend this to everyone. family drama, surrounding by mystery, a separated identical twin (?) to find out more about the truth about their parent, an affair?..
The story’s main character Mariko is a woman studying child welfare in Hokkaido. She grew up always doubtful about the love from her mother, who looked nothing like her and who passed away 9 nine years ago. One day, she finds some of her mother’s belongings at a relative’s house, and she heads to Tokyo to seek out the truth behind her birth.
Meanwhile, Futaba is a college student living in Tokyo who is focused on her band. She gets an opportunity to appear on television, though her mother is strongly opposed to it. Naturally, Mariko is shocked when she happens to see Futaba on television, since the two of them look completely alike.

i bought alot before. but now already pandai download. so i download. usually will chose which one i interested and follow every week^^
some old good drama also i download.
now spring drama will start, any good recommendation?
The reason why I stopped buying is because most of the jdramas being sold at local shops are actually non-originals, just bearing the sticker. So all the profits does not get to the producers at all. Luckily I did not purchase too many...

i strongly suspecting, most of the JDrama boxset available at establish outlets also came from downloaded source..

99% are fansubs, including those animes. So do the industry a favour, do not buy any "originals" of jap/kor dramas and animes! Do the right thing by downloading from the subber's sources instead
im downloading Suitei Yuuzai (no sub available, yet) Journalist Kayama Seiji who is covering the war zone, gets shocking news that Shinozuka Yoshio, the criminal serving time for the murder of a young girl 12 years ago, is actually innocent. At that time, Kayama reported on that case. Convinced that Shinozuka was the criminal, Kayama had proceeded to write the news stories, but he is proved to be wrong after the passage of 12 years. Shinozuka’s lawyer, Ishihara Yoko, holds a press conference where she criticises the sloppy investigation by the police and speaks of suing for the suffering during the 12 years that Shinozuka had lost. However, Shinozuka’s daughter, Miho has mixed feelings for her father who is released from prison at this late stage.
The victim’s older sister, Hiroko, also finds it difficult to accept this reality. The detective Asada Kunio watches the press conference with a grim look. He was the person who had put Shinozuka behind bars. Asada had sent an innocent man to jail as a criminal. Kayama had made him into a criminal and fanned public opinion. Now they have to start to face the fact that he was wrongly convicted
and possibly 37-sai de Isha ni Natta Boku ~Kenshui Junjo Monogatari~ The base for the story is a doctor named Kawafuchi Keiichi (52). After graduating from Tokyo University, he spent some time making a living off of pachinko and worked various jobs before becoming a hikikomori (shut-in) for a year. At the age of 30, he decided to enter the medical school at Kyoto University, and he finally became an intern at a university hospital at the age of 37.
Kawafuchi wrote an essay-like novel about his experiences in 2002 that sold roughly 100,000 copies. His follow-up book, “Furikaeru na Doctor,” was released in 2011 and is being used as the basis for the drama.
from the quick look JDrama listed this new quarter, nothing seem appealing for me.. but who knows..
I like this season more than the last. Offers more entertaining ones. So here are my recommendations:
ATARU - great acting of someone with 'savant syndrome' and cute interaction with the supporting casts.
Kagi no Kakatta Heya - Fans of Ohno or arashi should watch, though I'm neither, I find Ohno portraying the lead character very well, love his expressionless and cold attitude. Except when he speaks fast about something he likes, that is solving locked rooms mysteries. Not to mention, there's Toda Erika too.
Legal High - very funny! A lot of over the top acting and exaggerating for the most part, but that's why I like it.
Toshi Densetsu no Onna - not a fan of Masami Nagasawa's acting but I think the show's made for her. Nice to see a show where she's not crying or being helpless for once (like in Last Friends). And i think guys will like the way she flaunts her legs in this one, a lot of them.
As for a more serious drama, Mou Ichido Kimi ni Propose by Yutaka Takenouchi. Well, I'm a huge fan of his, maybe a bit biased but it's pretty good and depressing because of the theme. Well, look it up!
I seem to have a lot of shows to keep up with this season
Compared to the last, I only finished Strawberry Night while the rest, I gave up halfway. Lucky Seven was overrated and not enough Eita to keep me attracted. Hungry! was fine I guess, just not quite there either.
i think its pretty good. ive watched 2 episodes. a story about convicted child killer, found innocent after he served 12 years in prison. he lost his wife and daughter through the period. politicians and his lawyer try to exploit his misfortune for their benefits. a detective and a journalist who've put the innocent man by honest mistakes, try to redeem themselves by investigating the true story.
^ The drama seem pretty good but is there any latest Sengoku period related one like Tokugawa Ieyasu, Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, Tenchijin and Toshiie to Matsu?

I only know Gou~Himetachi no Sengoku, can read it up in wiki. It's more focused on the three sisters who married important people, including Gou whose husband is Tokugawa Hidetada. Quite good. It's my first taiga drama.
@truballer - found the movie, downloading. can't wait to watch, looks interesting.

37-sai de Isha ni Natta Boku aka Kenshui Junjo Monogatari [2012]
watched 4 episodes of it. just OK-ish. a story about 37 y.o man starting his medical residency, with the goal to help his sick fiancee. he's up against conservative superior, always play against a rules, follow his idealistic. this will never be a classic medical drama, too cliche, and i never like the lead actor (always remind me, his role as retarded man several years ago)

Actually it was ok for 1 to 2 episodes, but it gets repetitive that make the story boring.
im going to DL it.. read a good review about it. some say its a good balance between humor /police investigation /mystery.. i'll try watch it but im not hold high hope.. i think a lot police-crime JDrama this spring season.
Toshi Densetsu no Onna watched the pilot, just OK-ish, just above average, nothing special.. seeing the legs of Nagasawa Masami are beautiful sights, indeed..

i think Ataru (so far i only watched the first episode) and Toshi Densetsu no Onna (im on 6th) are just OK ish..
both are crime-police-mystery-comedy.. try to be funny, some parts are very amusing, some are just plain stupid..
Ataru, story about weird lad, have capability to observe thoroughly a crime scene. got potential.. will try to watch it further.
Toshi Densetsu no Onna, story about sexy and enthusiastic detective (Nagasawa Masami), obsess about urban legends. i watched until 6th episode so far, probably will drop it. the formula are repetitive. ordinary murder case - Otonashi try to link it with urban legend - the others think its not and his superior get mad - Otonashi investigate separately with his male forensic colleague - and the mystery solve. and i dont think its mystery at all (by TV standard, not real world), mostly straight forward murder case.. i watched only because of Nagasawa Masami..
i'll try another JDrama, Legal High..

Yeah, Legal High is good. But the main character talks to fast!
TBH, i never like both main actor /actress (just based on their previous works). never take an effort even to remember their names. but i like this show, very funny indeed.. the best (among 5 shows im watching) on going show..

Toda Erika's look doesn't look good to me. Probably the most boring appearance.
Kagi no Kakatta Heya
watched the pilot. very Conan-esque and Kindaichi-esque (locked room murder). i love that kind of mystery. Toda Erika done nothing, nor cute, nor funny. in her very conservative looks. his boss and boy genius done OK.
but the conclusion /closing of 1st case are really poor. really poor script. very circumstantial 'evidence' (no evidence actually). half decent defense lawyer can defend the culprit afterwards.
i'll give another shot for 1 or 2 episodes..
my current ranking for Spring 2012 (what im watching) 1>Suitei Yuuzai (completed) 2>Legal High 3>Ataru 4>Kagi no Kakatta Heya 5>Toshi Densetsu no Onna (dropped) 6>37-sai de Isha ni Natta Boku ~Kenshui Junjo Monogatari~ (dropped)
Just watched Legal High until ep7. I think this is the best drama for 2012! I also watch Mirai Nikki but I think there was something just not right in that drama. I think I will drop this drama. I also have Kazoku No Uta, but still dont have time to watch. Is it nice, Kazoku No Uta?

Suitei Yuuzai are mini series (5 episodes)
while u at it, try Bunshin too.. (mini series too, but aired early this year)
JDrama fans need more mini series.. the story normally more compact, not dragging much..
if the series become hit, install a full season..

Just finish my first mini series drama, Suitei Yuuzai. Well, it is good human drama. I love to watch human drama genre type. It tell about reality problem in life and how they solve it. (malay drama @ movie lack this) My last human drama before this is freeter, and my unbeatable so far for human drama is 1 liter of tears. Well, thanks to you and will try Bunshin next. *just watch legal high ep8, this drama is hilarious
is there anyone already watch W no Higeki [TV Asehi] ..look promising..
i'm up to ep6 atm, it's pretty good. I like that it's dark and mysterious. no fooling around. I'd say give it a try and see if you like the genre. I'll continue till the end just coz I'm curious of how they end up.
Quite nice and a bit funny at times. Although it is not as touching as Shiroi Haru, it is still nice as the sub episode now is at 3 episode while the raw is at 8 episode already.

hmmm...thanks to the internet, even some very old drama (15 years ago) are still download able today There are some JDorama which I watch 15 years ago but have not watch every episode, Now, able to download it and re-watch every episode on a 42" LCD TV !
I jush finished Zettai Reido..sorry for the late train..
For me the criminal quiet easy to predicted but I must said some of the storyline really touch my heart.. Aya ueto not so annoying like other her drama.. she actually act as rookie really well not so over react ... and how the case resolve as cooperation from the investigation team and forensic come out logic..For crime detective drama.. i will recommend this..although not so outstanding plot but I still feel worth to watch...
3.5/5 star

watching which version SARS[hard sub] or Eric Paroissien [soft sub] ?
softsub.. they are at 4th episode.. i already found hardsub version. possibly dropped it, its getting boring (4th)..
summer Jdrama that i probably try.. >Beautiful Rain already started. solely because of the kid (Ashida Mana, the little girl on Mother [2010]). possibly father-daughter drama like the last Sorimachi drama (forgot the title. the father getting ill..) >Iki mo Dekinai Natsu the storyline seem interesting. possibly romance-family-human drama. >GTO remake im bit pessimist, but the original GTO was the one sparked my interest in JDrama.

Beautiful rain will be touching...i'm gonna watch this..how Mana will help her father to remember her back..but I think I will wait until the series complete first..for time being will watch Zettai Reido s2..i'm already at the track shud continue from here..
GTO remake not bad rating for the starter 15% .. i hope the issue still relevance..and it will continue consistent with the plot..
12:am midnight today (saturday), turn on TV8 and saw TV8 showing a Japanese drama. I seldom watch local TV, so I didn't know that TV8 is showing Japanese drama. Anyone following this TV8's Drama series? Since when TV8 started showing JDorama? Is this show nice? Thanks.
(note: I start watch JDorama 15 years ago but after a while stopped, now start to watch again)

will try Ghost Mama Sousasen later. the sole reason are Nakama Yukie.. anyone watching this?
just watched halfway just now, not bad. Give it a try if ur a fan, the kid's cute too
Dramas I'm giving a try this season (will watch first episodes and decide from there):
Beautiful Rain - definitely following, Mana-chan too adorable to miss. Ghost Mama Sousasen Higashino Keigo Mysteries - i like how they use different actors and actresses for each episode, definitely watching everything. Tokkan - curious about the tax collector's job, which prompts me to watch, aside from Inoue Mao. Summer Rescue - Mukai Osamu as doctor, must watch hehe GTO - not sure why they wanna remake this show, as awesome as it was. But still, giving it a try. Browsed through and it looks pretty good, so far.
6 in the lineup. Was thinking there should be more but with other anime to catch too, this should suffice for this season
GTO remake not so good, not so bad.. the new Onizuka /Fuyutsuki resembling more (physically) manga version. so majority the others. the acting generally poor so far, but its still an early day..
its fun to watch, but the plots are well known already. they trying to tweak it here and there, but its becoming more lame.. WTF the headmistress /chairwoman hire a part time gardener to become a teacher? IIRC at least at the manga /original Onizuka actually came for interview with minimal education requirements.
having said that, i still enjoy it and having some fun.. after all, the original GTO are the first JDrama i watched and got some great memories of it..
Beautiful Rain i think the plots /story are plain, nothing special. typical family /humanity JDrama. the father got sick, love between father-daughter, etc. but Ashida Mana is real gem. she is the show.
the others seem OK, but not outstanding..
will definitely watch it further..

Can anybody here recommend me some comedy Jdrama? something akin to Saru Lock, My Boss My Hero those kind. Being trying to find one to fill the time so it doesn't have to be latest. THanks!
been out of the loop with jdorama for a long time liao but dafuq is wrong with them, cant they let good drama rest in peace.. although i havent watch a single minute of the new gto, but i dont think anyone can ever replace sorimachi as GTO.

Nicely put.
Somehow Japanese are lacking the quality of those legendary actors and actresses.
it was OK actually. but im not amuse with the comedy parts (the mom and her boss should provide that, old combo of Gokusen)
yeah it's generic, kinda like they got the idea from 11 Nin Mo Iru! theme (in which Ryoko Hirosue was the ghost mum and also the youngest kid gets to see her). They just changed it to the investigation formula. But pretty glad this season has less detective dramas, a bit overloaded last season.
Just watched first epi of Iki mo Dekinai Natsu (Takei Emi & Eguchi Yosuke). Aren't they promoting Takei Emi a bit too much recently? She was just in W no Higeki last season and another drama now. Doesn't take a break like most actors/actresses do. The show's intriguing though, I didn't realize Japan doesn't have the Identification Card system like we do with MyKad. They only us driving license or health insurance card for official purposes. The show is romance but I really can't imagine any romance between Eguchi and Takei lol, their age difference too much but who knows, maybe they can work it out together.
new GTO not bad. + alot "fan services" - Dislike modified story
old GTO is way tooooo legendary.
i think im gonna drop it, but i'll give another shot for next episode.. the ending of 2nd episode are terrible..
+ve points -the female teachers /students are hotter, cuter.. that tall nurse is nice though Fuyutsuki isnt really appealing.. -trying to be more faithful to manga.. at least on the characters physical resemblance.. -Onizuka looked more like street punks, at least he riding a cool bike instead of bicycle, hair colored like in manga..
Old one; new one waste time. Besides, old one has her...

watched the story 1 yesterday. quite good. mysterious killing stuff. will definitely watch it because all above are my favourite stars..

Hmmm....Legendary drama, how about this one ホームワーク (テレビドラマ) produced in 1992., there are total 11 episodes in this drama series. This series was shown on Taiwan's Chinese Star TV Channel 衛視中文台 also (15 years ago) Even today, this drama still download-able from the internet....truely Legendary.... (I watch this drama 15 years ago but missed many episodes, few weeks ago downloaded this series and able to re-watch every episode)
Beautiful Rain OK series, i love Ashida Mana.. Iki mo Dekinai Natsu aka Breathless Summer nice intrigue family drama.. Higashino Keigo Mysteries mixed quality so far.. most of it are decent. episode based, using different set of stories and (familiar) casts..
can recommend the top 5 japan series of this year ?
throughout 2012, so far ive watched around 20++ titles of JDrama, some of that ive dropped it halfway.. this is my top 5.
Kaseifu No Mita mysterious -family drama Legal High comedy -legal drama Nankyoku Tairiku south pole adventure -historical post WW2 drama Bunshin (miniseries) mysterious -humanity drama Suitei Yuuzai (miniseries) crime -humanity drama
Finished Kagi no Kakatta Heya after so long leaving JDorama.. Sasuga, when it is adopted, surely 99% a good drama.. The ending was awesome, I hope there's an SP for this..
Already finished Zettai Reido 2..Wow really interesting storyline and better than season 1. All cases very well develop parallel with each other and with one mastermind connected with all the cases. How they do the undercover very realistic and all the techi devices not so overrated but just nice blend with the team..i like the story simple but not empty.....
Overall very good crime, detective drama..i really enjoying a lot all the episodes.. 4/5 star..

I liked Kagi no kakatta heya,
but they have to shoehorn in that DnB song at every murder flashback which doesn't fit like 50% of the time.
Guys.."Rich Man, Poor Woman" drama gooding ??? long time no watch jdrama.
late reply but I've been following this drama. It's flashy and attractive, especially when the lead's company is just so cool~ Ok well, back to the plot, it's quite interesting, expect some competition in whatever software development they're doing, betrayal, and definitely love triangle. It's somewhat similar to korean dramas from what I've heard (I don't watch korean dramas).
So I am following these dramas this season:
Beautiful Rain - For Mana chan really, quite slow, actually kinda draggy with the plot but her cuteness makes up for that. Higashino Keigo Mysteries - Some mysteries are pretty well-written, while others are just meh...but the different actors/actresses make it interesting. Ghost Mama Sousasen - not sure whether to continue yet Iki Mo Dekinai Natsu - thought it was good and interesting at first but the second half is just too boring and disconnected. The leads don't even have chemistry (can't feel anything between them). So sorry Takei Emi, hope you'll do better in ur new drama next season. I don't get why they're promoting her like crazy though. This is her second consecutive drama and up for another one next season. Doesn't she need a break?
Kuro no Onna Kyoushi - might continue, might not Summer Rescue - for the sake of the two leads, I am finishing this. Tokkan - quite interesting
This season...I don't know, it's bit disappointing, there's no real gem.

Nagasawa Masami in very sexy mode lately (Higashino Keigo Mysteries and Toshi Densetsu no Onna)
she'll be in Koukou Nyushi.. some sort of high school mystery drama..
2 big Japanese stars.. Makete, Katsu (Ken Watanabe).. WW2 historical drama, im looking forward for it.. Priceless (Takuya Kimura).. Kimura as a poor man..

Agree about Nagasawa Masami, almost like deliberately showing off her long slim legs recently. Not that I'm complaining, she's definitely improving a lot in terms of acting. And I'm glad she tried a new hairstyle (with her hair short) she looks more mature and back when she was in Last Friends, I didn't really like her acting. But that is mostly due to the weak character in that drama. Surprisingly though, I enjoyed Toshi a lot, I think she's good in comedies. Hope she keeps on improving and getting better with each drama.
Priceless [?/2012] <---anyone know the air date? Koukou Nyushi [06/10/2012] Katsu Makete [08/09/2012] Going My Home [09/10/2012] Akumu Chan [13/10/2012] Tokyo Airport [14/10/2012] Hitori Shizuka [21/10/2012] Osozaki no Himawari [21/10/2012]
for last summer 2012,
Beautiful Rain [2012] just so-so overall (not watch the finale yet).. Ashida Mana saved the show..
Iki Mo Dekinai Natsu aka Breathless Summer [2012] its started really well, but gradually became poor in the 2nd half.. no chemistry between lead characters, poor story telling..
Higashino Keigo Mysteries [2012] mixed quality. story 01, 05, 09, 11 are fine. the rest are meh..
Ghost Mama Sousasen [2012] dropped after first episode..

GTO [2012] dropped after third episode..
I agree about most of what you write up there. especially GTO and Iki mo dekinai natsu. Disappointing. I can't judge GTO much since I dropped after 1st episode, but I'm just not interested in that kind of high school drama. Instead, I'd recommend the other one, Kuro no Onna Kyoushi, which turned out pretty amusing and interesting. I actually watched it all in one-go (well almost), surprisingly better than the others imo.
As for Beautiful Rain, the beginning was good but so draggy towards the end (still haven't finished). It feels like not getting anywhere with the plot when the actors/actresses are good ones, their talents are so wasted there. Not even cute Ashida Mana can save it.
Ghost Mama was funny though. I'm continuing it. Higashino was a hit and miss for me. I usually like mysteries and Japanese dramas offer a lot of them, but this one is disappointing despite the number of top-notch actors/actresses they hire for it. Too bad.
As for Tokkan, I'm left with the final episode. Rich Man Poor Woman is kinda expected with the plot but it makes for the better ones this season.
I haven't browsed through the titles for next season. Hope it'll be better than this one though.
Okay so I kinda looked through the new ones, my to-watch list:
Priceless - Just for Kimutaku x Karina pairing really. And to answer your question, it says will be airing on 22 Oct from official site (every monday 9pm) Double Face - Nishijima Hidetoshi!!! Like him ever since Strawberry Night. And it's police drama, awesome~ Going My Home Tokyo Airport Doctor X Resident ~ Go-nin no Kenshui Kekkon Shinai - Kanno Miho, Amami Yuki and Tamaki Hiroshi ALL in ONE DRAMA, not to be missed hehe and this brings both Kanno Miho with Tamaki Hiroshi back together again. http://www.fujitv.co.jp/kekkon_shinai/index.html
Koukou Nyuushi - Masami Nagasawa as English teacher, hope her Engrish is not bad though.
Wow that's a lot, I wonder if I can catch up. But it depends on whether these dramas are subbed or not. Hope they will!

I start with cheap love (1999) which gave a big impact to me. I'm watching this drama for the sake of Takashi Sorimachi and it's not disappoint me with his acting.
Chemistry between Sorimachi and Mayu not bad but at the same time not as good as i expected but still the message deliver..
The storyline near to reality where ordinary person try to change her life and trash of the society who trigger the change and encourage her to take the risk.
overall I can said they deliver a good dark romantic genre to the audience. Although the ending quiet predictable but still I enjoy the drama...
3/5 star for the rate..
after this i think i want to re-watch Virgin road i'm on the mood to watch all sorimachi drama..

Cheap Love are ok. Sorimachi was very huge star in jdrama scene after GTO. another good one from him are Hotman, got 2 seasons. Beach Boys are also good.
i dont remember much Virgin Road, but i think i watched it halfway only.. i recall the scene in church on montage..

I also think i'm watching virgin road half way only it made me want to re-watch again..suddenly wanted to re-watch old jdorama like long vacation , summer snow, Aishiteiru to Ittekure, and shotgun marriage i think i almost forgot the storyline but the feeling and soul that left from the drama still overwhelming...
The latest love story that I really like will be buzzer beat after that i still searching for the good love stories from jdorama...nowhere can be found...

Buzzer Beat are good. but its typical young-ish romance story, most teenagers will love this one. i dont think Yamashita Tomohisa have decent works after this drama.
Aibu Saki in slut role, but i think i like her acting in this drama than her typical cute role. i have silly crush on Kitagawa Keiko start to follow her dramas /movies afterward..
basketball scenes are good, believe-able. the actors probably have some good basic skills.

hahaha i'm not soo teenager but i love this drama because it's quiet real for me...I found kitagawa pair with yamapi look so good...can feel the chemistry.. yup I also become one of the kitagawa follower after this drama..she as Riko so likeable in the drama... but i dun like her at tsuki no koibito but she come back with Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de and she look loveable here...whenever she act actually she remind me of erika sawajiri..
i agreed yamapi dun have good drama after buzzer beat..although Saikou no Jinsei no Owarikata also not doin great..
^ really?? i think saikou no jinsei no owarikata is quite fun..maybe not as good as others yamapi's drama but i enjoyed it very much. one of the reason is because i know most of the actor actress, yamapi, acchan, chinen, the police girl... i admit the drama is quite slow, but it's not that bad.. (but i know the rating is low)
no one watch sprout?? im at ep4 now (yes.. im slow) and im going to watch piece too (Johnnys Jr.~~~~)
GTO ep 11 disappointing me much.. it's very lame for me, i keep forward the video. hope the SP wont give me the same feeling.
I watched first episode of Kekkon Shinai. Well it reflects the reality of the Japanese society where the unmarried rate are getting higher. 天海祐希 as the main character.. well, her image really fits into this kind of story.
Interesting first episode and guess I will continue follow this drama. Long time didn't see Tamaki Hiroshi actings already.

Amami Yuki in there, my fav 40 something actress, beautiful lady.. this one more to romance, drama or comedy? she was in possibly same theme drama Around 40.. a bunch of 40 something ladies, talking and worrying about their marriage, late marriage, love, future, careers etc..
i'll watch Going My Home tonight. expect a good thing. Abe Hiroshi and Yamaguchi Tomoko (Long Vacation)..

Not really, is about modern society where marriage is not something necessary anymore, even though they still want to get married somehow...
Yeah, almost similar characteristics in Around 40... she always portrays the example of independent, successful beautiful woman.
I think more towards romance with slight comedy.
Please go ahead and watch Going My Home and tells us how was it.

just watched first epi of Going My Home and random stuffs I noticed:
First episode is so LONG!
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
A bit draggy for my liking but it's a slice of life kinda drama so I'll bear with it. So Abe-san really has to go all out and consume tonnes of mayonnaise for his role haha Ma-kun from 'mayonnaise', poor him. I like mayo too lolz so it's ok. Eat anything you want with them! Nothing wrong with that.
I can see lots of tasty food gonna be showcased in this drama in the future. Great cooking lessons from his wife. Daughter is a bit on the weirdo sixth-sense type though. And why is there so little of Miyazaki Aoi?
Anyways, my verdict for now is that this is not for people who likes fast-paced dramas. They really take their time showing different characters' lives, mainly Abe Hiroshi's of course.

agreed. its very slow pace drama, but mind u most of my favourite jdrama are slow paced.
the first 45min, i felt there's almost non story. no conflicts, no dramas, pointless. but i think the acting are top notch, with some comedic reliefs.
overall the im disappointed. but i can bear another episode and see it from there. im a big Abe Hiroshi fan..

ep1 of Kekkon Shinai really is similar to Watashi ga renai dekinai riyuu, the whole setup and theme too. So far it's okay. I like all three main leads, so that's plus.
As for tokyo airport, I was just browsing through and the moment Kyoko Fukada speaks Engrish, I can't stand any longer. If I were the pilot, I wouldn't be able to catch what she's saying I hope the real control tower officers have good and fluent english at least.
Call me slow, I just finished GTO. Yes, the 1999 version. Better late than never. Very great drama., Very motivational drama to me. Although it is not so sad as 1 litre of tears but some part in the drama is really touching. Why la I dont watch it earlier.
its typical work procedural jdrama. a young rookie, tough supervisor /senior /boss, made a mistake on first day. hiding a tragedy in a past..
and i dont understand their engrish command. overall its weak and nothing interesting. unless u interested in how air traffic controller works in airport tower.
i think i'll drop my interest..

I already finished watching Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu..
I have mixed feelings about this drama...sometime I can relate with the stories but sometime it give the annoyed vibe with the storyline... some episode look well written.. some of the episode felt really rush to wrap up... I dunno if I shud recommend this drama...definitely note great but not really bad... If i need to evaluate the act between the actresses i feel Yoshitaka Yuriko as Ogura Saki done a great job portray her character compare to Karina and Oshima Yuko..chemistry between the characters Ok la believable..that's all..

I will give 3/5 stars..
I kinda like the drama though, maybe coz I find myself similar to Karina's character, the way she thinks/feels about certain things. The others were so-so. But the plus is the music and overall setting (i like vibrantly coloured setup/scenes). The music really helps (OST is great).
Akumu-chan is i think NOT for me. Kinda disappointed that kitagawa keiko is in something like that (could've chosen better roles?) I do admit I didn't watch the first episode yet, just browsed through and though Gackt is there and that's rare, I still find it not attractive (which is why it's still there, untouched).
Perfect Blue is so-so too, but I'll give it a shot and continue for now. The same goes with Tokyo Airport, Going My Home. Still waiting subs for Resident, Monsters, Priceless and etc. Kekkon Shinai is watchable, though not as good as Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu. My personal opinion.
I watched Double Face Special last weekend. It was still without subs but it's not hard to get the whole point. If you've watched Hong Kong movie - Internal Affairs or the Hollywood remake The Departed, then this is exactly similar. It's just the Japanese remake of the movie. Am waiting for the drama version.
ive watched the first episode of all these new dramas..
Going My Home boring at first, but i like it when watch it for 2nd time.. will definitely following it..
Koukou Nyushi nice build up though the main issue are quite silly (high school proud, entrance exam). always like Nagasawa Masami .. will definitely keep my interest..
Ooku Tanjou nice period shogun drama. the casting are strong. got a massive potential. probably the best so far this season.
Akumu Chan the story are nice, but i think i'll pass this one..
Tokyo Airport too ordinary. will drop my interest.
Perfect Blue far below average, nothing interest me..
will try Tokyo Zenryoku Shoujo, Katsu Makete, Hitori Shizuka, Osozaki no Himawari and Priceless later..
so many dramas to watch.. i havent finished my keizoku marathon.
can share where usually is your source for these dramas?
I bought 6 Jap drama series DVD from a video shop in shopping center. But only watched 3 series, the other are a bit boring, couldn't finish it, no mode to watch, wasted money.
You should watch Akumu-chan. You will see the other side of Keiko chan hahahaha.
on my list to watch but it will take time to finish and give my feedback..hehehe..so many dramas to watch from japan to korea to Taiwan to US... seems like no life huh
