Love Song - Fukuyama Masaharu has aged and it shows, but still charming, plus he plays guitar in this. I've always liked to see his musician side being showcased in dramas. The lead girl, Fujiwara Sakura makes her acting debut, the interesting part - she's also a singer-songwriter in real life so I bet we'll be mesmerized by her singing in this. As for the plot, I'm glad getsu9 takes on a different direction by bringing together an ex-musician who is still troubled by his past and a lonely stuttering girl together. I just hope they don't force any romance between them because I can't see it happening (Fukuyama is 47 and Sakura's 20). It's going to be hella weird. The background music is nice too so first episode won me and I'm curious what comes next.
Juhan Shuttai! - A good comedy take on the world of manga. After a stunning performance in Tenno no Ryoriban, Kuroki Haru is a pleasure to watch here, playing a role so diferent and hilarious. Her passion for judo and over-excitement about everything else don't feel forced. Odagiri Joe plays a more subdued fellow editor in the manga company. The characters are kinda comical and expect over-exaggeration, but at least, the comedy actually works and it's quite fun to watch.
Doctor Car - Gouriki Ayame in yet another mediocre drama. I wonder if her agency is really trying to help her at all. The role is not bad, a single mother and a doctor (it should spell inspiring character and boost her popularity) but the it doesn't help when they make the antagonist act like a spoiled brat. A fully grown up doctor acting like a child (in the bad way) turned me off that I skipped most of the premiere. The plot's similar to Doctor Heli (Code Blue) but lacks inspiration and the way they handled the characters are just so bad. Dropped after first episode. Japanese drama producers need to stop making shows like this.
Watashi wa Kekkon Dekinain Jyanakute, Shinain desu - A rom-com about a middle aged single woman looking for the right one. Rehashed plot and predictable but still funny. It's nice to see Nakatani Miki play a light hearted character and falling head over heels for her first love. What's also interesting is they include Fujiki Naohito's character who's sarcastic but actually a professional in relationships so he begins mentoring her. I'm usually turned off by this kind of genre and I'm not the target audience either but it's quite enjoyable so far.
Sekai Ichi Muzukashii Koi - Hmm....not my type of drama. It's like Kdrama rich guy looking for a partner
Hi no Ko - Yusuke Santamaria is doing a good job as this overly nice but suspicious neighbor of Kajima's family. Strange things start occurring at Kajima's household and makes us wonder whether Yusuke is involved in the sinister happenings. It's disturbing and has a good amount of suspense.
Kakkou no Tamago wa Dare no Mono (WOWOW) - Didn't realize it's Keigo Higashino's work until halfway. It's up to ep3 and 3 more to go. So far, the pacing is kinda slow but not to the point of making me wanna drop it. I'm also having some trouble caring that much for Tsuchiya Tao's character, there's not much that can make me like her or root for her. But the mystery of her identity is making me stay. I do really want to find out who she really is and I sure hope the revelation is worth 6 episodes.
Looking forward to Hayako Sensei (Matsushita Nao cut her hair in over 15 years
