Well, I probably don't really feel the up & down because I wasn't as up to date as u guys.. like, I don't join jdrama forums like d-addicts or jdorama. .. user posted image ..I know.. tongue.gif
so even after those glory days, there's still many good jdrama I haven't watch, so I can still feel the awesomeness..kinda.. laugh.gif

speaking of glory days, I never get to finish Shimokita Glory Days..lol

Added on November 30, 2010, 6:47 pmurmm, well for me, I have nothing against Korean, HK, etc drama.. I just like Japanese most, and I think it's enough for me, no need to go into other..

Unubore Deka [2010]

good stuff. the hero is brilliant, but i think he model himself too much after Jim Carey.

the 1-4 episodes are very predictable, but new faces of beauty of villain for every single episode make it up. 5-10 episodes are good, though the villain characters replace with much more old women. the finale are very good indeed.

lot of funny moments and dialogues. but TBH i didnt get it much because too much of pop /cultural references. love the Unubore routine dance (though admittedly seem very gay-ish and idiotic)

also watched Joker and Hotaru no Hikari 2 of same batch of drama, but Unubore Deka are clearly the better one..

7/10..

haha
its true jdrama glory days are over
but jdrama is the first asian drama that really turn into fever/big phenomena here
if you remember 1999/2000 like that when GTO was aired on TV3...its was an instant hit!.. then followed by Beach Boys..etc
then come hana kimi, gokusen etc... not forgetting movie like Battle Royale
but i guess now is korean fever...haha
miss those days

Couldn't agree more, I dig things that I like and I don't care if they are trendy or not thumbup.gif. In fact my first jdramas addiction goes back to dubbing days (Oshin, Akantare and Moero Attack lol! Hahaha I'm old tongue.gif).

And yes, I use to buy boxsets! Actually its one of the reason of my interest in jdramas, because back in my college days when downloading is unheard of (haha!) jdrama boxsets were relatively easy to get (and cheap too! laugh.gif ). Was kinda weekly routine to go down Jusco and buy jdrama series (and yes Jusco had d cheapest price among all lol). I didn't buy them anymore now, d main reason being the subtitles were terrible! Fansubs are way better alternatives, so yeah who can be blamed eh laugh.gif

i still remember watching JDrama boxset days, yes, the subtitle are terrible. poor translation and use BM of Standard 3. but still, im hooked.

last year, i bought 2 boxsets of old drama. very cheap, RM 5 each. but, after watched few minutes, i decided to download it for another copy. cant stand with the poor subtitle (and the quality of picture).

Takashi Sorimachi and Nanako Matsushima are my favourite stars back then. but Sorimachi these days is always involved in mediocre /not so successful drama /film, while Matsushima is just content with minor supporting role. they're real life couple.

Agree. I remember the urge to volunteer as a subtitle editor everytime I watch them laugh.gif . They are so pathetically made, even machine translations are way better haha. And wahh RM5 only! I guess my boxsets qualify to be given free then ahahaha laugh.gif .

Didn't know they're real life couple hohoho. I like Yutaka Takenouchi more than Sorimachi and for me they are still leagues ahead of nowadays' younger actors.

Atami No Sousakan [2010]

love the basic story, quite refreshing than typical JDrama. the ending are quite mind boggling. funny moments here and there. but, overall its just an average show. 5/10.

That's the thing.. We don't know for sure who knows what.. There's something fishy about the waitress, i guess the fortune teller know stuff too since Shinonome Mai told her, and she left for there. And there were some fishy scenes, like the 'lady-pimp' with her suicide attempts, history of the residents relationship, easter egg? red herring? umm.. they really adds up to the mystery rather than helping viewers to understand clearer.. laugh.gif
And what's with the "2". Some say it's about 2 worlds.. Some say there are actually 2 culprit, Shinonome & someone, could even be the detective.. Some say the whole place is the purgatory world and there were all dead. Some say the smoke monster was just..oh wait that's a different show.. tongue.gif

Love the mystery and the psychology, but like you, I'm also not that into the show that I want to dig more of it.. laugh.gif

^overall its ok la, i reconsider my rating, ill give 6.5 out of 10.. gave me something different than typical JDrama.. the idea are great, just execution are so-so, the ending are rather poor.. having said that, if they make the SP to give us better conclusion, ill definitely watch it..

That's why I choose it. I read the synopsis, and it sounded interesting to me.. so, the hell with ratings.. laugh.gif

Naah, to me shows like this better end with a cliffhanger. Unless there's an additional mindfcuk in the SP.

just finished Iryu season 3. The last few episodes were kinda rush this time esp the last triple operations. Overall enjoyed the show hope....just hope no more season 4 for this. Good show must put it to the end when it is good.

Now watching Jyou Ou 3 special edition. The battle to become top PRO begin again! Not so much fun as season 2 but still enjoyable although it's 18-rated and it's midnight show....
