What you means with powerful satellite? Satellite CPU processor power?
*

Transponder for Ku Band. It's either way, increase transponder power or increase dish size. But Malaysian laws prevented bigger dish size. To increase transponder power, you need more power supply using bigger solar panel, means heavier satellite, more fuel needed to maintain lifespan & ultimately total cost will be higher.

Seeing more and more channels being brought in, i'm not surprised they have started the anamorphic hd transmission style, 1440x1080i at much reduced resolution and bitrate, and the best thing is we cant really notice by just looking at the tv, unless your eyes are really good lol.
*

Already started?
How about it compare with your camcorder PQ brows.gif

If it's any consolation, it will record in SD too just to provide you subtitle in case you don't understand what they said. laugh.gif

Sorry, I don't have PVR. Can't comment further.

i have been complaining since 2007 to REMOVE the nasty subtitles in AXN and hallmark but nothing has been done.
they just don't have suitable people to do it technically.

The issue are with the dishes. No wonder they needed to change the dishes when we switched to b.yond. We can keep our existing 'new' dishes, they are trying to prevent ASTRO from giving out new ones.

quote from thestar

As such, AV Asia claimed it had suffered loss and damage as a result of being unable to commercialise its dishes.
The plaintiff is seeking RM1.3bil in damages for loss of potential commercialisation and RM4.41mil in damages for research and development.
It is also seeking an injunction to restrain Measat from further supplying its customers any satellite dishes.
*

The issue are with technology to reduce rain fade, which are LNB+dish.
AV Asia was originally propose this solution to Astro but they claimed that Astro has revealed their proposal to Tele System Electronics. Eventually Tele System Electronics has been selected as supplier, so AV Asia sues Astro for their 'loss of potential profits'.
Actually it's not related with byond box, but since Astro bundled their byond box with new LNB & dish, byond name appear.

- worth to upgrade ?
- the RM20 HD channel charge is compulsory right ?
any idea  hmm.gif
*

What's the words after Astro byond in the bracket?
You're an Astro Max customer right? For me, it's worth it. Current user only entitled to get PVR fee waived for 12 months, but you get 24 months.
HD services is optional, but this is for current offer to Astro Max customer, but you should read the letter throughly as I can see * which normally means terms & condition apply.
Another thing to consider is features for this PVR is slightly different from MAX, if you're used to MAX features. There are forumer posted back in V5 or in this V6 (couldn't remember) that you may want to read it first.

yea MAX user here .
after the bracket it stated all the accessories ( HDMI cable , dish , smart card )
i read all the term & condition .. it din mention abt the RM 20 HD channel  hmm.gif
so mean my astro channel is not HD ? or astro will automatically upgrade the channel to HD ? ( add the rm20 to my bill sleep.gif )
thx for the reply ...
*

If you're not subscribe to HD, you'll not get HD channel. Astro not upgrade their SD channel to HD, don't confuse. Your HDMI port also will not activate, means you can only use composite/component connection (S-Video not available in byond decoder).

“We are making Malaysians pay too much for too many things.” This includes broadband, mobile services and satellite TV.

He says YTL aims to change that even though it is facing world-class competition. “I can be very competitive when I have to,” Yeoh declares in an interview.
*

Let's see their pricing when they lunch broadband service next month. We can understand by then what their 'competitive' means.
btw, Sezmi content is not great either.

hello
i have a few questions i would like to ask, i just newly subscrive Astro Beyond and currently waiting for the technician to install it for (one-time pay - RM199) and RM86/Month
my questions is :

1: i have a Panasonic P42S10K (currently hooked to PC via HDMI2; left HDMI1 dedicated for Astro), can i make another output to other display such as PC Monitor (Acer H233H) via HDMI from Astro Decoder

2. sound output i would like to go to PC input via Optical In (it can be done?)
*

1. You need to buy HDMI splitter with HDCP capable.
2. Byond don't have optical out, only coax out for digital output. You need to buy converter if you still need to do that.

HD fee is compulsory if you want to change to byond with 12 months contract. Installation fee is waived if you return your old set.

Recording fee is compulsory if you change to PVR, but HD is optional. You also need to pay installation fee RM300.

wow, if astro has 2 million subscribers, then we will be paying RM12m easy cash for the government shocking.gif

Astro currently has nearly 3 million subscriber. (2.78 million as at July last year)
Your calculation is based on average RM100 per user, what if more than that brows.gif

So anyone already tune to hijrah TV? I'm don't have TV antenna to test it.
*

Already tuned using indoor antenna last night. Nothing special, just test channel. But being admin by PM's Department, I didn't expect more. More or less like RTM but with more specific target audience.
I don't know it is available in DVB-T or not as I don't have the tuner. But the term "100% digital" is incorrect though. I highly doubt it will be available in HD.
