1.0.1.001 Aug 11 2010 v2.1s2 just updated today on my b.yond pvr.

Mine is still 2.0.1.002 Jun 02 2010 v2.0s. Try restart a few times already but got nothing. 
Maybe this update just for Byond PVR.

Anyone here using byond external HDD got this new update?

u seem so scared..dont worry la bro..a lot of the things u experiencing rite now is normal when u 1sy get ur Byond..
u just need to pandai2 godek and discover urself this Byond thingy..
let me try answer some of ur problems..

TV1 TV2 TV3 all look bad..not becuase of Byond but because ur eyes has seen HD quality and only know u see the difference..
its been crap all along only that we dont realise it..and make sure u use HDMI cable for better quality..the cable provided by astro would do..
ur channel 952,953 not there is probably because u have not fully updated..yes the astro staff say 15 minutes, but since u are a new user, u need it to update a bit longer..just leave in standby mode for 45minutes to an hour, when u are not watching..the latest version is

to check ur setting try do this home>settings>insatllation setting>enetr pin code 0000>then HD settings..set to 720p or 1080i..if u are a sports fan, better set to 720p for better quality..

,about the tv1,2,3,i think its not my eyes,bcause watch tv1,2,3 at normal tv,it looks better than astro tv1,2,3

i already did that settings from 1080i to 720p..urm..i can't see any major differences,but that time i watch axn,din't try sport channel to spot the differences,will try it again l8ter.

i guess both decoders having different software numbers. normal b.yond start with 2..... and pvr start with 1.....

u mean u compare astro tv1 tv2 tv3 with normal tv u use antenna ? of course la bro..astro is not as good as normal tv
also if u compare old bxed CRT tv with LCD/plasma tv..CRT looks better for SD channels..

not much difference between 720p with 1080i..its not as u will see wow kababoom difference..
just little differences..people say its better..my plasma got stuck2 using 1080i..so better i use 720p..

Not sure byond can support HD radio or not

HD radio can producing significantly improved sound vs. that of conventional AM or FM radio.

BBC HD: improved picture quality?

The BBC has confirmed that, following criticism of worsening picture quality on its HD channel, it has switched to variable bit-rate encoding.

Last year the Beeb introduced new high-definition encoders which cut the broadcast bit-rate by 40 per cent, down from 16Mbit/sec to 9.7Mbit/sec. This brought howls of protest from some viewers, who complained to the BBC Trust and formed the BBC HD Quality Campaign Group.

Initially the BBC admitted there were teething problems with the new encoders. Subsequently, after further tests were carried out, it claimed that HD picture quality had not been compromised, saying that no technical fault could be found.

But now, following a meeting in April between the HD Quality Campaign Group, the Head of BBC HD, Danielle Nagler, and Head of Technology, Andy Quested, the Beeb has switched to variable bit-rate (VBR) encoding. (You can read more about the visit in this BBC blog).

What does this mean? Well basically, it's a process which maintains a similar average bit-rate despite being able to allocate more bandwidth for more demanding scenes – such as fast-action sports like football –  when required.

"The BBC is pleased that viewers feel that this set of changes has enhanced their experience of HD," says a Corporation spokeswoman.

Critics of the previous encoding system say the new VBR system has resulted in a noticeable improvement in picture quality, particularly during recent FIFA World Cup 2010 broadcasts.
