Why are you all excited about Al-Hijrah? If you want a preview, tune to Astro Oasis. It will be more or less the same

How is it possible FTA  HD without the box ? maybe they mean HD quality not FTA HD ! I stand corrected.

TV AlHijrah mula bersiaran semalam

     

KUALA LUMPUR: Stesen televisyen percuma tempatan pertama bercirikan Islam, TV AlHijrah, dipancarkan secara rasmi semalam melalui siaran ujiannya menerusi lima pemancar di Lembah Klang, Johor, Terengganu, Sabah dan Sarawak.

Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom berkata, buat permulaan, rancangan yang disiarkan di stesen televisyen berkenaan dapat dinikmati kira-kira 46 peratus penduduk negara ini sebelum menemui penonton sepenuhnya pada 7 Disember ini iaitu bersamaan dengan 1 Hijrah.


Beliau berkata, pihaknya bangga berikutan stesen televisyen berkenaan berjaya disiapkan dalam tempoh hanya empat bulan berbanding stesen televisyen lain yang mengambil masa lebih panjang sehingga 15 bulan untuk disiapkan.


Katanya, TV AlHijrah yang bersiaran dalam format Definisi Tinggi (HD) dengan peralatan canggih dan mempunyai pengurusan aset media tanpa pita, berjaya disediakan KUB Telekomunikasi Sdn Bhd dengan nilai kontrak RM29.5 juta.


“TV AlHijrah yang beroperasi di Kompleks Pusat Islam juga mempunyai sistem bilik berita moden dan sistem otomasi serba canggih, memudahkan aliran kerja kerana ia tidak membabitkan bilangan pekerja ramai berbanding stesen televisyen lain selain rancangannya turut dipantau barisan panel agama.


“Sistem Pengurusan Aset Media yang digunakan juga berdasarkan sistem digunakan stesen seperti ESPN, National Geographic Channel dan AlJazeera,” katanya selepas melancarkan TV AlHijrah bersama Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif TV AlHijrah Media Corporation, Bukhari Che Muda dan Pengerusi TV AlHijrah Media Corporation, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusof Noor,di pusat penyiarannya di Kompleks Pusat Islam, di sini, semalam.

Astro under fire in Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR, Tuesday 2 November 2010 (Bernama) — Paid-television service provider Astro came under the Parliament spotlight today when MPs expressed disappointment over its services and exorbitant charges.

Poor reception during bad weather, charges that have doubled, lack of efficient service from Astro staff were among the main issues raised during the winding-up on the debate on the Supply Bill 2011 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Apart from Datuk Lilah Yasin (BN-Jempol), Deputy Speaker Datuk Ronald Kiandee was also critical of the Astro services, claiming that the Astro response to problems was poor when he had reported disrupted services to his house in Kota Kinabalu.

“I myself lodged a report to Astro in Kota Kinabalu three months ago but so far no one has turned up. In this matter, I agree with Jempol (Lilah),” Ronald told Deputy Information, Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum who was winding up the debate on the Supply Bill 2011 for his ministry.

Joseph said Astro used the KU-Band technology and that the company was in the process of overcoming the problems, especially related to poor service during bad weather.

He said, however, that being a country with a tropical climate, uncertain weather and heavy rain could not be avoided.

“As for the poor maintenance service and quality of service, I will immediately get Astro to act,” Joseph said.

As for packages offered by Astro, Joseph said there were various packages and customers could choose packages, according to their needs and preference.

Wee Choo Keong (Wangsa Maju-independent) and Ismail Kassim (BN-Arau) asked why Astro was allowed to monopolise all 118 channels when the company was not offering efficient services although its packages were highly priced.

heck..i wonder how T Ananda Krishnan feels when he is watching his favourite show and then suddenly it rains and he doesnt get reception? or his astro is struck by lightning? haha..sure he got a store full of backup..

In his reply, Deputy Minister Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum said the Government had no plans to pressure Astro to give rebates to subscribers when the service was interrupted due to poor weather.

If capacity is limited, how they want to add more channel on next year? Is it no more new channel next year? 

capacity limited? measat 3A still have 6 extra ku transponders sitting pretty ready for astro to hire

each transponder is capable of transmitting 13 astro quality SD channel using DVB-S

for sure it will be benefited to astro if all SD channels are using DVB-S2 + Mpeg4 for transmision, saving 30% on  overall capacity

but astro must hurry up and change all old DVB-S decoder to byond box

no can do!

byond boxes are purposely crippled to only receive measat3/3A ku band signal, unless you hack your byond box

Dont forget more channels are needed for coming asian games, so be prepared for more WORST PQ soon.

byond box can't receive C-band signal, as I mentioned previously it is programed to lock in KU-band signal only
