QUOTE(azrin_kiko @ Nov 2 2010, 05:11 PM) Wider.. hehehe... BTW we still don't know al-Hijrah's policy when dealing with 4:3 content, either stretch or pillar... Sure they could have customize pillarbox to fill... You're joking? ![]() This post has been edited by Qash-M: Nov 2 2010, 07:19 PM |

QUOTE(Qash-M @ Nov 2 2010, 05:27 PM) where is the source from?well..it does not surprise me one bit..before this, it took a while after the launch of 8TV, ntv7, TV9 and others to come to astro..they didnt immediately come to air on astro.. and all this talk of petition and demonstration and so on..whats the use? we all know that this channel is being run under the PM Department authority..if they wanted it to be on Astro straight away, they would already put the plan into motion..so if the government say it wont be on Astro for now, then we Malaysians AS USUAL must accept and obey... There are still 3 HD channels to be unveiled by astro before the end of the year..lets move on and turn our attention to that..any one have any news on any progress made by astro or by any network regarding this? |

QUOTE Astro under fire in Parliament 2010-11-02 18:40 KUALA LUMPUR, Tuesday 2 November 2010 (Bernama) — Paid-television service provider Astro came under the Parliament spotlight today when MPs expressed disappointment over its services and exorbitant charges. Poor reception during bad weather, charges that have doubled, lack of efficient service from Astro staff were among the main issues raised during the winding-up on the debate on the Supply Bill 2011 in the Dewan Rakyat today. Apart from Datuk Lilah Yasin (BN-Jempol), Deputy Speaker Datuk Ronald Kiandee was also critical of the Astro services, claiming that the Astro response to problems was poor when he had reported disrupted services to his house in Kota Kinabalu. “I myself lodged a report to Astro in Kota Kinabalu three months ago but so far no one has turned up. In this matter, I agree with Jempol (Lilah),” Ronald told Deputy Information, Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum who was winding up the debate on the Supply Bill 2011 for his ministry. Joseph said Astro used the KU-Band technology and that the company was in the process of overcoming the problems, especially related to poor service during bad weather. He said, however, that being a country with a tropical climate, uncertain weather and heavy rain could not be avoided. “As for the poor maintenance service and quality of service, I will immediately get Astro to act,” Joseph said. As for packages offered by Astro, Joseph said there were various packages and customers could choose packages, according to their needs and preference. Wee Choo Keong (Wangsa Maju-independent) and Ismail Kassim (BN-Arau) asked why Astro was allowed to monopolise all 118 channels when the company was not offering efficient services although its packages were highly priced. Joseph said apart from Astro, nine more licences were issued to broadcast stations but they have not started their operations. — Bernama http://www.mysinchew.com/node/47499 Even YB also make report on rainfade issue with KU-Band. ![]() This post has been edited by Qash-M: Nov 2 2010, 10:31 PM |

QUOTE(minimize @ Nov 3 2010, 12:40 AM) actually..it was not a YB that has still to receive the astro service help..its the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.. for God's sake astro!!! in the parliament, when the YB fight like little kids, this guy will tell them to shut up or be suspended from Parliament..so YB and even the Prime Minster has to listen to this guy..in parliament only lah..but him complaining that astro has not come to repair his astro after 3 months of the report, it is a BIG EMBARRASSMENT for Astro..really it is..I was actually waiting for a big name figure in the country to actually complain about Astro..my theory is that Astro is not only watched by normal people like us..but all the YB2, Ministers heck I even think the Prime Minister watches astro..or at least his family or grandchildren..so imagine them nagging to their grandpa coz astro no service during rain..cannot watch Upin and Ipin.. If these big name figures start complaining then there is a chance for astro to buck up really..I know people will say that astro has the full backing of the government..but actually who are those people in the government that back them..? I can assure u something..not everyone that sits in the parliament are backing astro..its those who have shares and interest to astro or its other interest that will always back up astro..its those YB that will lose millions if astro suffers that are backing astro till they die no matter what..only when they lose their shares or lose in general election will they also join us in protesting against astro.. heck..i wonder how T Ananda Krishnan feels when he is watching his favourite show and then suddenly it rains and he doesnt get reception? or his astro is struck by lightning? haha..sure he got a store full of backup.. There u are !!! Astro cannot take more channels simply bcos all capacity leased to others like Bigtv just why we see one channel has to go and give way for another! Astro is not the least shaken abt anything. I still wonder if Alhijrah can start overnight wat is happening to the 9 companioes having licence to operate ? Astro gives the worst deals in expensive packages. Pls leave AK he has nothing to do with Astro's operations.Astro believes in just keeping some happy and pleased. It is trying hard to become a Tutor for the country. This MP I respect him to bring the issues up and I wonder wat happened to the other oppositions , PKR and DAP never touch Astro !! Selangor can mmake astro behave !!! HD fees must be aboilished and Family pack must be at not more then RM20 for the screwed up channels offered.

Hopefully other satellite companies that want to start broadcasting maybe get Discovery HD as #1 must have...
Also: QUOTE In his reply, Deputy Minister Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum said the Government had no plans to pressure Astro to give rebates to subscribers when the service was interrupted due to poor weather. This post has been edited by Qash-M: Nov 3 2010, 02:06 PM |

Hi All,
Just wanted to check. I connected my beyond decoder with HDMI output to TV and Red & White cable for audio to my speaker system. It was working till recently whereby, no sound is coming from my speaker and then I switched the audio setting to TV and the sound comes from the TV but from the speaker. I have tested the speaker with TV alone and it works but not from the decoder. Any solutions for this? |

QUOTE(minimize @ Nov 3 2010, 02:14 PM) If capacity is limited, how they want to add more channel on next year? Is it no more new channel next year? Well, AXN Beyond HD feed is from TelStar 18, so, Astro have to "hijack" other satellite. Maybe they have to take remaining channel on Measat 3/3a before Measat 4. each transponder is capable of transmitting 13 astro quality SD channel using DVB-S |
