just want to share...im developing(ecehh...hehe) free blogspot regarding HD channels in Malaysia....so, anybody got any idea wut to put?

9 HD already have + 6 Malay HD = 15 HD channel this year???

That sounds about right. AEC and Vaanavil should be next. Then Astro will have to deal with the Chinese and Indian channels and asking them for HD feeds.

This is good news because that will push OTA channels (Media Prima and RTM) to change their transmission to HD. This means that everything else down the production line will have to be upgraded.

Seeing more and more channels being brought in, i'm not surprised they have started the anamorphic hd transmission style, 1440x1080i at much reduced resolution and bitrate, and the best thing is we cant really notice by just looking at the tv, unless your eyes are really good lol.

This is because the 1080i HDV format uses non-square pixel dimensions to record video images, but when played through an HD television the HDV video is stretched out to fill a standard 1920x1080 frame. Why do 1080i cameras do this? Full-resolution 1920x1080 video would mean a bandwidth that would exceed the mini DV tape's capabilities. It would simply be too large a file.

no idea... your only best bet is to break the encryption to get the digital transmitted audio/video... like what happened to directv... their mtv hd channel, Palladia is at that resolution, around 5-6Mbps average.

do you think the 6 malay hd channel are in family package, mustika or preview?

Believe it or not, ESPN STAR SPORTS signed the legendary, our own Shebby Singh on an exclusive contract to appear on their channel..
yup..Shebby Singh only on ESPN STAR SPORTS..either Astro didnt think he was good enough or astro think they have better guys(which they most CERTAINLY DONT) Shebby wont be appearing on Astro's in-house shows anytime soon..

so the next new HD channels coming are 720 and 830?

Wow.. sound great. I wonder what malay program astro will put in all 6 new HD channel. Why not just lunch discovery HD first. 
Maybe astro need to lunch new satellite next year regarding an increasing of new HD channel.

30 HD channels of what? 12Mbps each?...so if they were to deploy what US is doing, you could get 60HD channels in the future lol

Juz like i campaigned long ago,,, just change the codec of sd channels to h.264, abis crita..
