if u play long enough u would know where the opponent scouts are coming from if they just click on ur base, just scout using their route instead of urs. ie, xelnaga cavern,jungle basin, check xelnaga tower. if he gambles on 4v4 map then theres nth u can say. i think flying to island is not a good option 1)u can only carry few scvs, 2)long flying time, 3) lack of building space, 4) u dun hav access to expansion. i guess the other option is just cancel building action with ur rax scv and dun engage until u produce enough scv. i dunno if autorepair is fast enough or not, ai might be just too stupid&slow,remember u lose 1 dps per repair. attack ground @ melee range is still faster than ur scv moving around to repair or manually microing them.

it is hard to justify @ late game. it all come down to ur micro n gameplay
cuz during late game any unit will oso come out, there is no hard counter to a unit to win the game instantly |

again& again, all the units combination u guys mentioned doesnt seem possible to get in a normal game, it is surely ur fault somewhere if the toss can come out with stalkers ,void rays and immortals outside ur walled in 1 base.
However, yeah it is one of the way(voidray) for the protoss to counter terran who wall in, i've avoided wall in using buildings like rax or supply nowadays, although 100 or 150 mineral might be cheap but it is annoying to lose 2 supply and get supply blocked or a rax, probably ur 1st rax with addons or even worse, with upgrades still pending. another reason not to wall in early vs toss is to avoid losing ur 1st supply depot to proxy gateway

just brute force mmm n train ur micro n macro 1st, they're still 1 solid strat, once u get ur mechanics right then only worry about ur strats.

i dun think tosses do tat unless they're playing something like 4 gates, or zergs who reserve larva
