phoenix's mobility means ntg when the mutas force an engagement...
and dun forget the splash from the mutas when they reach a critical mass...

archons are still not as good as colossus for sure as colossus have the range advantage...
its a good transition from colossus tech for sure...
something need to be done to carriers to get it more play...
i dun mean balance but rather builds etc...
too underused even in late game...

4 gate, blink, dt, robo, stargate, k4g...
dun expand in PvP so simply...

basically unless u have colossus, u cant expand...
with colossus, i get a higher chance to def the nexus with micro...
if ur opponent expand too fast, jz tech to colo and kill him =p
basically in PvP both of u have the same units, he spend 400 on nexus and somemore on probes where u can use those resource to pump ur army bigger and kill him thumbup.gif

hmmm it would depends actually...
3gate blink is relatively stable vs most builds...
if u go 3gate robo and ur opponent go blink, u are save to expand and tech to colossus after that...
if u wanna 1 base him on 3 gate robo, a good protoss will know to abuse that by going to ur base and blinking around forcing u to base trade which is a risk due to the mobility of stalkers...

i would suggest gate core gate gate robo (immortal chrono -> 2obs with 1 to his base) then expand and get like 1 more immortal till u can afford robo support to colossus...
from there drop a 2nd robo (double robo) and get 5-7 colossus with lance and go kill him with probe to pylon along the way...

^ that is the basic, situation depends based on games, maps, skill lvl etc

Basically why u need obs in ur base: -
- if he go blink, he is 1 building away from DT so u need obs not to die to DT (some use DT for vision and blink up ur ramp denying ur forcefields
- if u have obs, u can know when is he coming to atk u, it is very important information
- if u have obs, u can deny information from his obs
- if u have obs, u can deny his obs from blinking into ur base etc as tat will give him vision

for ur lvl i think tat is the best as u can defend 4 gate using 3 gate but tat is soooo micro intensive.

usually even if it fails rite, it is not the end...
use ur DT for map control and deny the zerg's 3rd while u expand...
from there get blink...
depending on ur micro, u can snipe the overseers and let ur DT go all out...
and if he go mutas? well archons from there...
i like some DT with my army as they kill lings so so fast when u isolate them wit FFs

btw: DT move faster than overseers
