Went to Sin Hup Kee in Bdr Puteri, food was so so only and service a bit slow (tak cukup org i guessed) and don't know the price coz ppl belanja.

Added on January 25, 2012, 7:07 amWent to Moon Palace for dinner with friends yesterday and as its new and during CNY period its packed. As we are merely walk-in, luckily just have one table available. I would say food is below average and quite pricey. have you seen a steamed chicken completely soaked with the chicken soup which the whole dish is tasteless.
However, service is quite fast although it is packed.
After that went to Kayu for yumcha and roti canai

Went to "I love hokkien mee" in Bdr puteri ,,taste ok but portion sikit leh, ordered for 2person but the quantity enuff for one person only

Expensive -Yes but still cheaper than KL Petaling St & Imbi wan..Those already RM9/pax haha.

BTW, Have you all notice that min hawker food in Puchong now RM4.50? Last year stil can find RM4..damn after CNY - RM0.50 liao

Puchong, a town situated in the state of Selangor, Malaysia, used to be famous for tin-mining and rubber estate back in the 60′s. Its location in between KL and Putrajaya, as well as its close proximity to Petaling Jaya (PJ) has made it an ideal residential suburb in the recent past. Together with the rapid increase in property and development is the mushrooming of food outlets to satisfy the picky taste buds of Puchong residents. Picky, because residents here always go for value-for-money meals – nothing overly fancy or pretentious, but just good and delicious food. I have been a proud resident of Puchong for the past 1.5 years and I must say that the food scene in Puchong changes faster than one can blink! Some of the restaurants that I used to go have gone under within a year, while some have survived and prospered.



Here is a list of restaurants that I have visited so far, arranged according to category for your browsing convenience. The list is not conclusive, nor is it final, because I will keep on adding new places to it regularly. Food hunt in Puchong shall be made easy with this list!

Chinese Food



1. Taste Good Restaurant at Bandar Puteri Puchong -Their butter and pumpkin crabs are a must-try! A fuss-free and casual Chinese ‘dai chow’ restaurant with seafood and more. Price: About RM20/pax depending on seafood ordered.

2. Chi Ka Yin Hakka Food at Bandar Puteri Puchong – For a healthy and home-cooked meal of traditional Hakka dishes, this may be the place for you. Fried Spring Roll is a hit! Price: Around RM20/pax average.

3. Ah Kad Kar Halal Dim Sum and Soups at Bandar Puteri Puchong – Finally, Halal dim sum and soups to satisfy the larger crowd. Price: Dim sum starts from RM3/plate.



4. Jin Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum at Bandar Puchong Jaya – Good quality dim sum at an above-average price. Steamed dim sum is fresh, and Golden Bun is a must-try. Price: ~RM20/pax.

5. East Wang Zhao Kopitiam at Bandar Puchong Jaya -A neighbourhood cafe with hearty porridge and flavourful ‘siew chao’. Our default cafe when we are at lost of what to eat. Price: From RM5 per pax.

6. 1 Puchong Cafe at Pusat Bandar Puchong (opposite IOI Mall) – An alternative for cheap hawker-style food. Recommended stall would be Lanna Thai, serving Thai food. Price: Starting from RM6/dish.



7. Mo Sang Kor Bak Kut Teh at Bandar Puteri Puchong – An expensive version of BKT served in porcelain bowls instead of claypot. Go to this place if you have a small appetite or be prepared to splurge. Price: RM10/bowl.

8. Yap Chuan Bak Kut Teh at Bandar Puchong Utama – Delicious Bak Kut Teh served in claypot. Also famous for Dry BKT. Bigger portion and cheaper than Mo Sang Kor. Price: RM9/claypot.

9. Puchong Yong Tau Foo at Kampung Baru Puchong – One of the best Yong Tau Foo places I’ve been. This place is so good that it’s almost the signature restaurant to represent Puchong. Must try! Price: RM1.50 and above per piece.



10. Mama Kitchen at Bandar Puteri Puchong – Recommended for their signature claypot Lou She Fun and Roasted Pork noodles.

11. Cheong Wah Seafood Restaurant at Bandar Puchong Jaya – Comfortable dining environment with reasonably priced dishes. Recommended dishes are Nestum prawns and Beancurd with Minced Meat. Price: ~RM20/pax.

12. Restoran Kong Sai Village Chicken Rice at Bandar Puteri Puchong – Old-fashioned village chicken with smooth and tender meat. Don’t forget the Braised pork with yam and chicken feet salad! Price: ~RM10/pax.



13. Hon Kee Porridge at Bandar Puteri Puchong – My default place for a good bowl of smooth and heartwarming porridge with raw slices of fish fillet. Price: RM5.50 onwards per bowl.

14. Restoran Taiping Lang at Bandar Puchong Jaya – The place to go for a taste of home-cooked food just like that of grandma’s. Healthy food with daily soup served. Price: ~RM15/pax.

Japanese Food



1. Kikyo Japanese Restaurant at Bandar Puteri Puchong – One of the cheapest Japanese buffet around Klang Valley. Reasonably good quality with food prepared upon order. Price: RM36.90/pax for buffet.

2. Kissaten Restaurant at IOI Boulevard – Has a wide range of menu available, including bento, ramen, udon as well as pasta. A recommended dish to try is the Pork Burger. Go during lunch for cheaper sets. Price: RM20-30/pax.

Balinese Food



1. Bumbu Bali Restaurant at Bandar Puteri Puchong – One of the famous Balinese restaurants in Puchong, serving huge portion and delicious Balinese food that is sure to satisfy even a big-eater.





Malay Food



1. Restoran Ikan Bakar Sekinchan at Bandar Puteri Puchong – Newly opened grilled fish place in town. Fish served tasted more like steamed rather than grilled fish, but the assam gravy was quite nice to go with rice. Price: ~RM10/fish.





Noodles

1. Super Kitchen Chilly Pan Mee at Bandar Puteri Puchong – Explosively hot and spicy chilli pan mee that is sure to make you sweat. Price: RM5.50/bowl

2. Bao Bao Pan Mee at Bandar Puchong Jaya – A fuss-free Pan mee chain restaurant that serves a hearty bowl of soup with flour noodles. Not exactly the best but at least a place to satisfy that undying pan mee cravings? Price: Less than RM10/pax

3. Hahasiu Pan Mee at Bandar Puchong Jaya – Not only delicious pan mee but generous portion of dessert too! My personal favourites are Chili Pan Mee and Herbal Chicken Pan Mee. Price: ~RM6/bowl.

4. Kafe Mee Jawa at Jalan Puchong – One of the better Mee Jawa around with a comfortable dining environment and a nostalgic feeling. Price: From RM8/bowl.





Steamboat / BBQ

1. I Love U Shabu-Shabu next to IOI Mall – A comfortable and hygienic steamboat place with individual hot pot and plenty of variety. All types of fish and meat balls available as well as unlimited cuts of pork, beef or chicken slices. Price: RM26.80-28.80 per person



2. Bar-B-Q Plaza at IOI Mall – Grill your own meat here, served in sets. Not exactly the best BBQ place but at least it has a comfortable environment and a delicious BBQ dip! Price: ~RM20++/set.





Western Food



1. Stadt German Restaurant at Bandar Puteri Puchong – For a place priding itself for steak, I enjoyed the pork ribs here more. Relatively cheaper German food but with a slightly smaller portion. Price: About RM20-30 per main course.

2. Steak Out at Bandar Puteri Puchong – Generous portion of pork ribs and steak served with a casual dining ambiance. Price: RM30-40 for steak.



3. The Pork Place at IOI Boulevard (opposite IOI Mall) – The only place in Puchong that serves only pork. Recommended order is Pork Burger with juicy and tender patty. Price: RM19/burger.

4. Vintage Restaurant at IOI Boulevard (opposite IOI Mall) – A restaurant with average food served in a nice and quiet ambience. Price: From RM20 per dish.

Indian / Mamak

1. Nasi Kandar Pelita next to IOI Mall – The place for a plate of wet and spicy Nasi Kandar, or if you love bread, Roti Naan here is good too! Price: RM2 for Naan, RM6++ for Nasi Kandar (depending on dishes).



2. Kanna Curry House at Bandar Puchong Jaya – A good place for cheap banana leaf rice with unlimited rice, side dishes and gravy.







Coffee/ Tea / Snacks



1. Pacific Coffee Company at IOI Boulevard (opposite IOI Mall) – Very comfortable place for coffee, magazines and wi-fi without the usual crowd. Price: ~RM12 per cuppa.

2. Pappa Rich at IOI Boulevard (opposite IOI Mall) – My default choice for steamed bread with kaya and butter, as well as a good glass of ‘teh tarik’. Price: Less than RM10 for bread and coffee/tea.

3. Teh Tarik Place at IOI Mall – For a good cup of teh tarik just before movie at the cinemas next door.
